Beautiful area, bring snow chains for driveway if ice and snow are expected
We enjoyed our stay in the property. The king size bed is on a loft that has no door, it is in the same room as the bunk beds (no privacy). There are no curtains on the windows so you’ll be up with the sun. The cabin is in a beautiful area with wonderful views. It was little more rustic that we expected, there are lots of water stains on walls logs and beams, but it was dry and well heated. There was a lot of snow while we were there and the driveway is steep. I have a 4 wheel drive SUV and got stuck at the bottom of the driveway. I had to shovel the driveway and break up a lot of ice to get out, it took a couple of hours. After that experience we parked at the top of the driveway. The beds were comfortable, the linens were nice, towels were good quality and plentiful. The hearth is in need of repair and the fireplace could use some updating. It was functional but made the house smell like a campfire. The WiFi was fast and reliable, water pressure was good and water was hot. Jacuzzi w worked well. Water from the tap was a little cloudy, we stuck to bottled water for drinking. Some of the drawers in the kitchen need repairs. It met the needs of our family of 6 and was reasonably priced compared to the top of the mountain resort options. If staying in the winter months I definitely recommend snow tires, 4 wheel drive or chains. The neighborhood approach and driveway would be a problem for regular cars and trucks.

Great place to gather
This was a perfect house for four friends to gather for a long weekend. The house had everything we need - beds were comfy, living space made for great conversations, and the hot tub was in good working order. The privacy of the beautiful wooded location was also excellent, and it was easy to take long walks on the road.

West Virginia Retreat
This cabin is an excellent combination of privacy and convenience. The cabin is in a subdivision on a hillside within 2 miles of the entrance to Snowshoe Mountain resort. Access is via a very well-maintained gravel road which has little traffic. This road is great for dog walking and short hikes right from the cabin. The cabin is very private with no other cabins visible from the property. Bird watching off the back deck was excellent. Wi-fi and satellite TV are included and worked well. The hot tub was a nice place to relax at the end of the day. We didn't use the fireplace but it should be nice in the fall or winter. From the cabin it's easy to reach many attractions in this area including the Cass Railway, all types of hiking and biking trails, the Highland Scenic Highway, the Cranberry Wilderness and the Greenbrier River. Although there are restaurants at Snowshoe, we found it best to just cook our meals in the cabin. If that's your plan, just remember that the nearest large grocery store is about 30 minutes away. All in all, the Moose Lodge is highly recommended for those who want to enjoy outdoor recreation from a comfortable base.

Perfect mountain vaca
Great cabin. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Good accessibility - road to cabin and driveway in very good shape. Kitchen was reasonably stocked. Beds very comfortable. Most destinations we visited were very mellow since it was skiing off-season, but that also made it a relaxing vacation. Very close to Snowshoe, Cass Railroad and Marlinton. Great hiking opportunities nearby. Identified over 20 species of birds right from the deck. Highly recommend this cozy cabin!

If you like to work on your vacation- stay in this rental
VRBO advertising prides themselves on offering vacation rentals without work. To put it short, three out of our five days at the rental were spent fixing the amenities that were advertised. The hot tub was dirty. The wood for the fireplace that was advertised was completely soaked and unchoppable. The internet was not working which we had to troubleshoot. The TV did not work which we had to wait around for the service providers and cancel our travel plans and hiking plans. Additionally service people showed up at the door unannounced after we had cancelled them. We were not dressed and relaxing. The host seemed put out by all of our requests which were merely what we had been promised when selecting this rental. I have attempted to communicate with the host since our return and his unwillingness to makes things right has led me to move up the chain at VRBO- I am extremely displeased. It is honestly sad that this host cannot relate to his guests having to take care of his vacation rental, otherwise he would have made it right.

Amazing Autumn Cabin Trip
Can't recommend this property enough! The surroundings are beautiful and the cabin is super cozy. It was comfortable and clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook multiple meals. It can be tricky to find since you're out in the middle of nowhere and there's no service, but it's well worth it.

Beautiful view
Cabin is in a beautiful place, the scenery and the rain made for a nice relaxing weekend. We went up in hurricane Ian and unfortunately the phone service and wifi service were completely out, and definitely no Verizon cell service, but it was nice to have a quiet weekend off-the-grid. Beds were clean and very comfortable. Kitchen well equipped. Definitely enjoyed our stay.

Solitude in the mountains.
Beautiful view from a quiet secluded cabin down a quiet gravel road. All things functioned well and made our stay just perfect. Biked the Greenbrier river trail and hiked trails on the Highland scenic highway. Did the 400 steps at Falls of Hills but it was so worth it. So get out there and enjoy "Wild Wonderful West Virginia".

Beautiful, quiet and comfy
We very much enjoyed our stay. The property was beautiful and quiet and enjoyed using the hot tub and appreciated all the amenities that were provided such as the grill and all the kitchen accoutrements. It was a wonderful get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and a great place to take day trips to other areas such as the new river gorge in Green Bank in Cass in other waterfall hunting

Beautiful property in the mountains of West Virginia. Beautiful sunsets, hiking, absence of people and no phone service unless you really want to connect via suppied internet. Bring a cooler of food/drink and you won't have to leave. There is a well supplied little store a few miles away in the event you didn't bring something.

Perfect mountain retreat
This property was exactly what my family was hoping for! The house is incredibly cozy and the property was perfect for exploring. We spent 3 nights and never left the property as the adults and children alike were content staying put and embracing the much needed relaxation this property offers. We had one minor issue with the water when we first arrived, but Jim was easy to get ahold of and had his maintenance guy there in less than an hour. If you are looking for a rustic and peaceful retreat in the mountains, this place is perfect for just that!

Over all, pleasant stay.
My wife and I are both small business owners and needed a quiet getaway with our dogs. This cabin differently provided that. The location is tucked away in the mountain with the closest neighbor being over 300yrds away, downhill, and great areas to walk and enjoy nature. Pros Interior comfort: The decor/ambiance is as advertised. Had all cookware needed to cook meals, although I would have brought a knife sharpener had I known how dull the knives would be. There are plenty of blankets to be found for lounging on the sofa and the sofas are cozy, as is the king bed upstairs. ** can not comment on other beds as we did not use them. You will find all the tools needed to keep a roaring fire with more than enough wood available. If you are looking to have a dip in the hot tube, set the temp several hours before you want t get in, it takes a while to get up there, at least in winter. Cons The doors and windows are drafty causing a bit of an extra chill in winter but keeping a steady fire will help. The property manager had a note on the thermostat requesting we not raise temp above 55, this did hit us the wrong way as it made us feel the manager/owner was trying to be cheap and lower operating costs at the expense of our comfort. I did keep a fire going at all times and used the space heater upstairs, but at night when it hit the teens outside it was too cold for comfort (remember the drafty doors and windows) so I did end up raising the thermostat to 63 to even out the comfort level, this worked great. There are also two leaking glass pains above the sliding doors when it rains. be ready to get some bowls or towels to catch the drops. The overall visit was what we needed and helped us reset and be ready to come home and get back to things.

Great cabin at a great location!
Great, cozy cabin in the mountains, only a short drive to Snowshoe. Amenities are great, from hot showers to a nice fireplace. Cabin is spacious with plenty of sleeping areas. We are not skiers, but we enjoyed the hiking and the sightseeing. And yes, the creek and the waterfall are a must. Finally, Jim was very accommodating, great communication!

I love to spend quality time with my family at Snowshoe. It's my second home. I wish I could live there full time!

Why they chose this property

I love Snowshoe for it's beautiful mountains and lots of snow! It's the best resort in the Mid-Atlantic. It's worth the drive! Our cabin is located in a very private subdivision that is only 2 miles to the entrance and 10 minutes from the top of the mountain.

What makes this property unique

Creek with Waterfall on property. Awesome view of a the mountains and a pasture. You can go sledding in the back yard in the winter and exploring/hiking during the summer.
