Monument Prize 2016 - Modernly restored property from 1728
This holiday home was built in 1728 and has only been completely renovated and restored by us ever since. With an award-winning architect, the monument office and a restorer, we restored everything in detail as it did in the 18th Century. Of course there is heating, bathrooms and WiFi from 2016 today. Experience a unique property in Wiesbaden-Auringen that won the Hessian Monument Protection Award 2016.

Beautifully restored 1728 timbered home.
Loved the home, the furnishings and the wonderful renovations to keep this historic home authentic. Lovely greeting from homeowner. We are headed back to stay there again this weekend!
Thank you so much from Alaska,

Overall it was fantastic to stay in a part of history, and even with renovations they kept the essence of the building and community. The kitchen, and bathroom was fantastic!! Bedrooms were a good size and had good lighting and windows for breeze.
The only thing I would see doing is downstairs having a larger sofa that turns into a bed might be a great option. Partly because since the stairs are original, not everyone can make it up and down safely. This could make that room into a living room suite, its big enough for a queen size sofa bed with all the furniture still in there.
The downstairs WC was a nice edition so not having to go upstairs unnecessarily. And the courtyard was fantastic to have, for breakfast and dinners without being in a public space.
Also the laundry was a blessing because we were there for over two weeks, so keeping things clean was a must.
The host family was gracious and welcoming, never once was there any issue with anything!!
The location was fantastic, parking was not hard at all, the village was easy to navigate once driving a few times and walks were fantastic in the evenings.
Overall I’m definitely saving the place for consideration for my next trip to Germany!!
We were in the Wiesbaden area for a few days, and this stay at Martin's property exceeded all of our expectations. The property itself was immaculately clean, and it was incredibly charming as well.
We parked close each night, and were able to go out and explore the surrounding countryside with ease. Martin was a gracious host, welcoming us to the property and providing us with great dinner recommendations nearby.
If we are back in Wiesbaden, we would live to stay here again!
This house dating from 1728 is located in a little village about 15 minutes from Wiesbaden by car. It has been restored with care and updated with a modern kitchen a half bath downstairs and a a full bath upstairs. Getting through the gate takes some practice with the digital lock but after that you are back in the 18th century. The entire house is spotless. Getting up and down the stairs takes some care; its more like a ladder. Be careful getting luggage up and down. The bedding and linens are just fine. The beds are comfortable too. Its great to be able to live in an historic house like this, We had a great time.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Location
Noisy and extra costs not communicated.
Lodging on very noisy street very early in the morning. The VRBO hosts did not respect the guests by trying to be quiet (or educate their children to be respectful and quiet) in the morning or at night.
A "Spa tax" of 3 euro per night per person was expensive and a waste of time and money.
We would not recommend this location, or stay there again.
We arrived late in the day and the host had already provided us with all the particulars for arrival. So convenient !!! Home was super clean and hosts were very friendly and helpful. We would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the area. My daughters still talk about our visit here.
Wohnen mal anders.
The owners and property manager were extremely professional in the way they have everything set up. The booking and check in/out process was simple and clearly communicated. The welcome book in the house has so much wonderful information that helped us tremendously in making the best use of our time in our short 2-day stay. The house itself was amazing! I loved getting to imagine what it was like living there a couple hundred years ago! It’s historic for sure with the tiny stairs and leaning floors, old windows etc, but the restoration was done to perfection AND everything was modern and comfortable. Every amenity you could imagine from a beautiful huge modern shower to Netflix and WiFi and super comfy beds. I loved that it was on the same property as the owners and shared the courtyard to their main house with them. It was really nice getting to meet Martin’s wife when she was outside with her children. She spoke excellent English, by the way, which made conversation really easy and made us feel very welcomed there. We loved the neighborhood we were in- very quaint and peaceful but close enough to Wiesbaden to easily head into the city for the day. There was SO much in Wiesbaden! We enjoyed a huge farmers market right in the center of town, went to the store with the “World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock”, enjoyed lots of fun shops and ate and relaxed in the grass watching ducks by a pond at the park. There was so much to see and then we enjoyed dinner on our way back from the city at a beautiful countryside tavern that was recommended by the owners. It was wonderful coming back to rest after the day’s activities in this cozy home. There was so much more we would have loved to do if we had been able to stay longer. We really appreciate the wonderful hospitality. You won’t be disappointed with your experience renting from this sweet family!

Lovely Stay
We have a lovely stay at this historic home. The hosts were delightful and popped over shortly after we arrived to introduce themselves and made sure we didn't need anything. Later that evening they were throwing a small get together with some friends and invited us over for a drink. We agreed and had a delightful time. During the stay, we blew a breaker and the host came over and fixed it right away. The only person this house would not be good for would be someone with elderly family or children as the stairs are quite steep (as the host mentions).
