About this property

Borrow an 850 acre estate and a 7 bedroom house.

Frank Soule Lodge is a newly restored Adirondack style house renovated to capture a vintage style unique to every room.

We know gathering with a large group can be an exciting chance to reconnect, so we’ve designed the first floor to be your place to unwind and hang out. Sit down with one of your favorite books in the reading chairs near the main entrance, lounge with your friends around the stone fireplace and put on your favorite movie, or spend an evening playing board games in our surprisingly spacious shuffleboard room.

No matter where you turn, you’ll find something new to discover. Cook a large meal in the generously sized kitchen with double oven or mix a drink at the bar with separate under counter drink fridges. Gather for a feast in the dining area or soak in the sun from the lakeview sitting room, your options are endless. And when you’re ready for some alone time we recommend making your way to your private bedroom to enjoy the views just outside your window. Every room provides its own unique perspective of the wilderness and wildlife around you.

If you’re looking to really enjoy the outdoors then be sure to make use of your own private dock, newly installed fire pit, or the outdoor patio with grill. These are the places where the real magic happens.

Whether you choose to spend your quality time exploring the deep blue shores of 50 acre Lake Vanderkamp, walking with the sounds of the birds throughout our nine miles of hiking trails, or taking in the hint of pine that emanates from the lodge's recently renovated exposed pine beams, we want you to enjoy every moment of your stay with us.

Let us show you how to get slow and we know you’ll never want to leave.

Perfect!

We loved our stay!! We had ten adults and three babies under the age of two. The space was perfect for the amount of people we had. We plan to come back in the future and had zero complaints!

Great No Matter What the Weather

Vanderkamp was the ideal setting for small family 50th Anniversay celebration. Although the weather wasn’t perfect, we were able to be outside for 2 of our 4 days – hiking, paddleboarding, canoeing, fishing, and playing yard games. Off the dock it was very weedy and mucky, but it was fun to watch the fish and snakes. Inside there was ample room to either be together or find quiet places to read or relax. The kitchen was WELL-stocked with dishes, glasses, mugs, and silverware. The cooking equipment was good quality, but there weren’t many large pots for a group of 14. We had our own chef who brought a blender, wok, big kettle (for corn) and serving platters. Our group had various levels of mobility and appreciated no stairs getting in the front door. From that entrance, it was a gentle slope down to the beautiful fire pit. There were downstairs bedrooms; one with a bathroom that was wheelchair accessible. Being an old building, the stairs to the second floor were steep. The ensuite bathroom had a high tub. We’d suggest installing a grab bar. The staff at Vanderkamp was wonderful. Sally answered pre-visit questions quickly. On site, Jim brought us an extra coffee maker (drip) and fishing poles. He told us to use anything we see – just put it back when you leave. The lodge was beautifully furnished and many amenities like soap, shampoo, and trash bags were provided. It was the perfect place for our nature-loving couple to celebrate 50 years together.

Beautiful and relaxing

We had extended family stay at this beautiful property. It had everything we needed and more! I will say the pictures don't do it justice for how big the lodge is and how beautiful the property in general is. We were all amazed and couldn't recommend it more! Every detail was just perfect and beyond expectation and we would definitely recommend for families with members of all ages (we ranged in age from 11 months old up into 70s).

Great Retreat

Wonderful property that was so beautiful and peaceful. We had 16 guests and plenty of room. We appreciate all the small touches, the well stocked kitchen, fishing poles and numerous boats. The manager was super friendly and had great communication. We can't wait to return!

Secluded lake retreat

Gathered here with large group for family reunion. Variety of indoor and outdoor spaces with seating for all to be together. Big comfortable bedrooms. Teens loved the shuffleboard table. Little kids loved the secret closet turned into comfortable hideout with tent. Explored the serene lake in the row boat every day. Cooked in well-appointed kitchen. Strolled the grounds. It was a magical getaway! Would love to book again someday.

Great stay

The house is really comfortable and well appointed. Plenty of supplies in the kitchen to make meals. Lots of cozy hangout spaces around the house. The pond was a lot of fun for boating and fishing (although a little mucky for much swimming). Within a 30-45 drive, we went to Green Lake State park (awesome swimming and trails) and Fort Rickey zoo (charming). Our only minor complaint is about the mattresses. Several in our party found them extremely soft to the extent that they were having backaches and chose instead to sleep on padding on the floor. I would recommend the owners look at the mattresses large motel chains have, which are firmer and broadly comfortable, and buy similar mattresses. However, overall our stay was still fantastic. * Other small points for the owners: 1. Green and Red trails, which are not maintained, should be marked on the trail map as such. 2. Consider putting blinds in the dining room. I love the sun in there, but it's extremely bright in there sometimes. Thanks!

Perfect for big groups with a range of ages!

We chose the lodge at VanderKamp to celebrate a 50 year wedding anniversary and it was near perfection. The lodge at VanderKamp was exactly as advertised. Communication with the host was easy and responsive. Having access to a lake with kayaks, canoes and standup paddleboards kept our crew of all ages entertained and cool. Our visited coincided with a very hot spell when the AC was broken. The host was really responsive in providing as many fans as possible to keep air moving and helping to cool the house overnight. Great memories were made thanks to the lodge at VanderKamp. My own kiddos are already asking for a repeat visit.

Perfect for a Low Key Bachelorette Party!

Stayed here in July 2022 for a low key, lake hang bachelorette party and the Frank Soule Lodge was perfect! Many bedrooms to accommodate for a larger party, a beautiful kitchen and dinning room for group dinners, and of course great views of the lake made for a wonderful weekend. The folks at Vanderkamp couldn't have been kinder and were very responsive when we needed to get in touch with them for a couple of things. 10/10, would recommend and would absolutely come back!

Beautiful place for a family reunion

We really enjoyed our time at VanderKamp. Everything was beautiful, new, and very clean. There was plenty of space and privacy for everyone but also large common areas that allowed for catching up, cooking, and eating together. The kitchen was well stocked. It was lovely to be able to hike on the grounds and the kids enjoyed the simple pleasures of throwing pebbles into the partially frozen lake. The owner was helpful and responsive. Everything was exactly as described and pictured. Definitely recommend!
