About this property
Paradis en Berry
Welcome to the land of Georges Sand, in her beloved countryside.
Escape to our beautiful Berry house, a century-old former farm located in the heart of the countryside, near Argenton-sur-Creuse, offering absolute peace and tranquility. Renovated while preserving its authenticity, this charming home provides a perfect, rejuvenating setting for your vacation or a creative retreat.
Nestled on half a hectare of land dotted with fruit trees, it boasts a stunning view of the surrounding valleys.
For two years, we renovated this old house, unobtrusively, while ensuring no compromise on comfort. We offer travelers internet access, a television, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, a hairdryer, and a plancha to enjoy the outdoors to the fullest.
Relax by our heated pool (3x10 meters) during the summer season (from mid-May to mid-September), or warm up by the fireplace on cool evenings (firewood provided). The house is equipped with both a wood stove and an electric boiler for optimal comfort throughout the year.
All floors are original, and most of our furniture has been sourced locally.
A home with character and soul, timeless in nature.
Book your stay now and let yourself be charmed by the beauty of Berry!
Things to see and do in the area:
A hiking trail passes by the house, leading you to discover old washhouses scattered in the greenery.
Argenton-sur-Creuse, just 7 minutes by car, is a postcard-perfect town of 5,000 residents, often called "the Venice of Berry." Nestled by the Creuse River, it feels like time has stood still. You’ll find a cinema, a performance hall, sports facilities, and charming local shops. Its covered market is one of the most beautiful in France, offering exceptional local produce. Its gallery houses are truly unique in the world. Warning: You may fall deeply in love with it. Bonus: A train station with direct daily connections to Paris.
The closest beach to the house is Moulin Rouge beach (1.5 km), perfect for soaking up the sun, swimming, and enjoying a picnic by the Creuse River. Additionally, you'll find the beaches of Montcocu (18 km) and Chenet (7 km) nearby, offering more lovely spots to relax and swim.
The Himalayan bridge of Cuzion, built for the passage of the Olympic flame in 2024, is an engineering marvel suspended above the valley. This spectacular bridge not only offers an impressive view of the surrounding landscape, but also symbolizes a historic moment tied to the Olympic Games. Perfect for an emotional walk, it's a unique spot where nature and sport meet, providing a memorable experience for all visitors.
Gargilesse-Dampierre, listed among France’s most beautiful villages, truly deserves its title. It is enchanting both in summer and winter. Georges Sand didn’t make a mistake when she chose to set up her second home here, which you can visit during the season. Many artists have settled here, and no visit can exhaust its beauty, which feels like it belongs to another time.
The Menoux Church: Its interior walls were completely painted in the 1970s by Bolivian artist Jorge Carrasco in a surprising psychedelic style. The fascinating painter's studio, where he experimented with various techniques, is open to visitors year-round.
The Eguzon Lake, nestled in nature, is an ideal spot for water sports enthusiasts. Whether you're into sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, pedalo, or even tubing, this lake offers countless ways to enjoy the water and the stunning surrounding scenery. It’s the perfect place to relax or have fun, alone or with family, in an exceptional natural setting.
The ruins of Crozant, located in the charming village of Crozant, are a true historical treasure not to be missed. Perched on a hill, they offer breathtaking views of the Creuse Valley and the confluence of the rivers. These medieval ruins, blending history and nature, transport visitors to the past while being surrounded by stunning landscapes. A must-visit for history and panoramic lovers.
Châteauroux: Just 25 minutes away, enjoy all the attractions, restaurants, and shops of a major city, with a renowned national performing arts venue, Equinoxe.
