We loved our stay at this property. The house was beautiful. When we needed assistance, our host, Devonnte, responded quite quickly. We highly recommend this charming house if you're visiting Muskegon
The house is as described, nicely decorated, and very convenient to downtown Muskegon. The neighborhood it is located in is quite varied. One street up is the beautiful historic area and houses while the houses on either side of the rental are in pretty bad condition, one may even have been boarded up. I never felt unsafe, but I also never felt totally comfortable either. Overall, my family and I did enjoy this house for our stay, the kids really enjoyed the game table and having their own spaces in the house.
We stayed at Bright Side Bungalow for our Michigan Adventure trip. We were close to Lake Michigan and the Muskegon South Pierhead Lighthouse. We were 15 minutes from Michigan Adventure and three miles from Hank's Tavern (YUM!)
The Bungalow was so cute. The second floor was perfect for the teenagers and the game table was used for hours by the 5th graders while the adults took advantage of the porch and living room.
Devonnte was easy to work with and responded quickly to questions.
We highly recommend Bright Side Bungalow.
Our stay was just ok. There were some minor issues that we didnāt raise at the time such as no hand soap in bathroom, we ran out of toilet paper the last day. I realize these likely would have been resolved if we said something, but since they were little things we let it go.
However after checking out we were requested to pay a cleaning fee for pets. They claimed our dog left so much dog hair they had to bring in extra cleaners and vacuum 3 times, wash the linens āseveralā times, and wipe down every surface, including changing air and furnace filters.
This was after only a 3 night stay. When I asked to see a billing invoice for the extra cleaning fees incurred, I was told they own their own cleaning company. I was also told I was charged this pet fee because I didnāt disclose upon booking that I had a pet, even though the property is listed as pet friendly. The property manager sent photos, which show some hair on the rug, their dirty baseboards, and a stain on their floor, not from us.
The house itself was just ok. The yard was fenced in, but the gate didnāt even latch, so a dog could easily escape. Also the grass was un-mowed and was about ankle high. There are houses in the neighborhood close by that are boarded up but a block or two away the houses are much nicer.
The stay here wasnāt bad but I definitely do not recommend staying here unless you want to incur excessive cleaning fees.

Beware
The online pictures here do not give an accurate depiction of the disaster that awaits you. The house is OLD - which is fine - but itās FULL of insects. Spiders, rolly pollies, ear wigs, all of them. The upstairs appealed to me since we traveled with kids, but it was so infested with spiders my kids couldnāt sleep up there. They tried, but our daughter woke up with spiders in the bed. The couches downstairs, āleatherā ones, were so torn up that they were painful to sit on. I had to purchase beach towels to tuck into the them so we could sit. The house had obviously not been cleaned. We found trash in the primary bedroom. Hair - both human and animal - coated the linens and I had to wash everything before we could sleep. Hair, hair ties and crusted toothpaste were found in the bathroom. And the cherry to top it off - a rat trap in the kitchen cabinets. Speaking of, the kitchen was horribly stocked. You canāt offer a family sized home and then not stock it so a family could cook there. The house is in a rough neighborhood next to an abandoned property. The back yard offers a tarp covered fire pit. No chairs in sight, so pack camp chairs if you plan to try to enjoy it. The only perk was the washer/dryer set since I had to wash EVERYTHING.
Prior to our stay the host was lovely and easy to work with. Iām so disappointed our trip went the way it did.
We had a great stay in this beautifully updated home. The house was the perfect size for the four of us. My teenage kids loved their room upstairs. Very quiet and safe neighborhood that is very close to anything you would need. The host is ready and willing if you have any issues. We all enjoyed using the fire pit to enjoy some sāmores before heading home. If we are able to visit again , we know where we will be staying.
We enjoyed our stay at this nicely updated home. The neighborhood was great and very safe. It was a great location for a lot of different activities with grocery stores nearby. My teens loved the game table--it was being used constantly while we were there. Everything is new and very clean. Host was easy to communicate with and very responsive to any issue. The only negative is the stairs to the upstairs have a low ceiling so my tall teenage boys had a little trouble, but that wasn't a big deal. If we come come back to the area, we would definitely look at staying here again.
