About this property

Quaint Guest Cottage Overlooking Potts Harbor

Leave the stresses of everyday life behind and enjoy a relaxing vacation along the beautiful Maine coast, where the slogan 'The way life should be' holds true.

This hidden treasure located at the end of a peninsula, offers views of scenic harbors and spectacular sunsets. Wake to the sound of passing lobster boats, sip beverages on the deck overlooking the shore, and enjoy the fresh, cool summer breezes.

This 850 square foot guest cottage is located on the lower level of a family home. It is totally self-contained and has private entrance. The original structure was an addition to this charming 1927 summer home about 50 years ago and recently has been refurbished to include all the modern conveniences.

This cozy get away is economically priced and affords all the luxuries of a private rental. Comfortably sleeping 2 adults, a second all-purpose room contains a convertible couch for children or overnight guests, a full kitchen and dining section, and a living area with spectacular views.

Whether you are interested in dabbling in Maine's history, visiting lighthouses, taking excursions, or just enjoying the shore and eating lobster, this is the place for you. So sit back, relax, and remember days gone by, when life was simpler and vacations were a time for relaxation and renewal.

Very special space
My dog Pippa and I had a perfect 3-day escape in this cozy space. The view from daybreak to sunset is amazing! The location on the end of Pott’s Point is stunning. Very comfortable bed, lovely shower, great little kitchen area. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Absolutely will hope to stay again.

Unique and charming place
My friend and I stayed for four nights at this cottage by the sea. We found it to be larger than it appears in the photos with an extra room that the host willingly and quickly turned into a second bedroom. It was well appointed with all that we needed to cook most of our meals. The location at the provided local walking by the sea and short rides took us to many local preserves. I would highly recommend, the cabin, the location and the host who was very helpful and accommodating.

A Return to Bayberry Lodge
This was our second trip to Bayberry Lodge and we were again delighted with the location, the property, the caretakers and the community. This is a very comfortable accommodation with a spectacular view. My favorite part of our trip was spotting seals in Casco Bay from our window, hopping in my Kayak and giving "chase," with the seals definitely playing hide and seek with me. We hope to return again soon!

We had a lovely time. Quiet, sea breezes, dolphins, lobster boats, beach walks and sunshine. What more could you ask for. Our hosts were really nice and friendly, but not at all intrusive.Certainly a place to come back to!

Little Beauty on the Coast
My husband and I celebrated our 40th anniversary in this sweet little place right on Potts Harbor. It was perfect for the two of us with just the right amount of charm and the most beautiful views. Morning coffee was a daily ritual on the deck watching the fishing boats coming and going. Our hosts were friendly and very accommodating. We will go back in a heartbeat! Thank you so much.

Short Autumn Getaway
We booked the cottage for two nights and our only regret is not being able to stay longer. The listing and pictures don’t really do this place justice. It’s cozy and you can tell it’s been well loved and enjoyed for many years. The furnishings and layout make you feel like you are in a ship overlooking the open ocean. There was more square footage than we expected, if you have kids they could easily stay in the other room with what looked like a futon. The view is serene, and the accessibility to the Potts point preserve is incredibly convenient, especially since we were traveling with our dog. There were several restaurants still open and they were delicious. We cannot wait to stay again.

Great stay
My husband and I arrived late on a Saturday night. Ms Margaret waited up on us and gave us a tour of the cottage. We had a very enjoyable stay. The cottage is located right on the waters edge. Beautiful sunsets. It's a drive out but if u want privacy and a great view, this is the place.

At the Tip of the Peninsula
This is a unique property with a beautiful location on Casco Bay. The "cabin" (a dark wood-paneled apartment, reminiscent of a ship/captain's quarters) looks directly out on the water, where you can watch dramatic tides, birds, and the occasional seal. The hosts who run this property are very kind, and gracious but do not overwhelm and leave you to enjoy their wonderful property. We will definitely be returning again!

Spacious and quirky basement cottage apt with large windows overlooking casco bay.. enjoyed a complete nervous system reset gazing out of the windows and enjoying the view from the Adirondack chairs. Maine the way life should be
It was nice. Pretty busy one day with the mowing, gutter sales person there, septic company there and cleaning crew. The one day we invited friends over that we hadn’t seen in over two years. Otherwise at beautiful spot

Amazing sunsets
Right on the coat, great place to relax, walk along the rock formations on the shore, sunsets right outside our window. Not too far from the Main State Theater, Bailey Island, grocery market, and the cutest ice cream place just up the road. The host sent email with specific driving instructions ahead of time. only thing is ..take drinking water

Bayberry Ledge
We loved the location and peaceful atmosphere. It was perfectly located at the end of Potts Point a few steps away from the Potts Preserve. Woderful for "beachcombing". Beth's daughter was gracious and helpful with regard to the area and facilities. It's only a short drive to Brunswick or Bath, restaurants, etc. We definitely would go back again. I have only one suggestion. A more comfortable chair in the living area would be a definite improvement.

A little piece of heaven.
Wow!!! What a gem! We couldn't have been happier with our stay here in the cove. The views from the livingroom are spectacular. We enjoyed many sunsets sitting out front in our Adirondack chairs. Margaret and her family are wonderful hosts. If you are looking for a peaceful spot in this hectic world , this is the place for you. We look forward to returning.

My version of heaven
I and my dogs had a perfect stay. My definition of perfect: friendly but unobtrusive host and other guests; sea, sky, rocks and kelp; 25 minute drive from the closest town; great walking nearby; Maine’s timeless natural beauty. This is definitely the place to go if you enjoy your own company. It’s not the place to go if you need the things the modern world supplies at your fingertips. The ‘cottage’ is charming with spectacular views of the water. Ceilings are low! Shower has good pressure for a great shower – but an even lower ceiling so could be claustrophobic for some! Kitchen is small and well appointed and had everything I needed. Propane fireplace provides heat on chilly days. Welcome Book has tons of information of interest. As I said, perfect~

A secluded coastal experience
The property was first rate. The ocean views were overwhelming. The space was well appointed -- we could have stayed there for weeks, property provisioned. In that regard, be advised that it really IS 25 minutes to the nearest supermarket, so it does pay to plan ahead, unless multiple excursions into Brunswick is a part of your plan. We had limited (but friendly) interaction with out hosts, so this was an experience of delightful solitude. We reached the rental in the dark and so had a different experience with the host's directions than the usual one, I suspect. I suggested a couple of improvements that would have saved us some time and confusion, almost literally within sight of out destination (which, of course, I could not see). We'd love to return.

About the host

Hosted by Barbara Arnold

Host profile image
As a child this beautiful Maine home was owned by my grandparents. Grandpa built a separate unit, which is now what we refer to as our bungalow, so that all of his grandchildren and their families could enjoy the vacation home and he and Grandma could still keep their sanity! Growing up in this house made it a part of me, the sights and smells of the ocean, and the memories attached to them. So, in 2008, when the second generation needed to sell it, my husband and I bought it in order to maintain the family traditions.
The grandchildren are all grown now, some with grandchildren of their own but the traditions will carry on. We hope you can make some memories too, and enjoy this beautiful spot just as we do.
