Stayed here the week my son got married. He lives in North Springfield and the wedding was at The Inn at Weathersfield. The location was perfect, just 3 miles from my son and only one mile from the Inn. Had to go back and forth multiple times, so this was super convenient. The house is large and has been updated with
modern conveniences, but still maintains it's original charm!
I loved everything about this house - the layout, the space, the history, the location. I booked this house almost a year ago as a birthday present to myself for my 60th birthday in June. My husband, son and his wife, and precious 5-year old granddaughter were able to join us, and my birthday was just about everything I could have hoped for. The house itself was perfect for us - space to spread out, a fully equipped kitchen for cooking, a long dining table to enjoy meals together, two separate living areas, and a lovely backyard for birdwatching and listening to the rush of the Black River below. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms spacious. We appreciated the laundry room, since we were at the house for a week. We also waded in the bracing waters of the river's edge just below the bridge several times and admired the beautiful river rocks. Perkinsville is within easy driving distance of so many places to explore. We drove all over Vermont, from Windsor to Rutland, and Burlington to Brattleboro, but concentrated mostly on the Windsor County area. We went to Bookstock in Woodstock, the strawberry festival at Wellwood Orchards, learned about maple syrup production at Sugarbush Farms, toured several old houses, had fabulous meals and drinks, including an excellent dinner at the Weatherfield Inn for my birthday, and hunted down every independent bookstore we could find. We even saw a bear from a safe distance in a cemetery. It was the trip of a lifetime.
Our overall stay was amazing. Beautiful place with everything you need for a short stay! Cynthia was very easy to reach when I needed help with something and was a joy to talk to. We thank you for the welcomed stay!
We loved our stay in the 1820 House! We are two families, 4 adults and 4 children ages 5-15. We came to go skiing at Magic Mountain in Londonderry, which was about a 30 minute drive from the house. This was easily the best outfitted rental house I've ever stayed in, in terms of kitchen supplies and cookware (we cook a lot!). It was great to have the two bathrooms AND two living rooms for different TV watching/reading preferences of our group. The bed configuration was perfect for us. My only wish was that it was easier to walk around the area--the road is busy and there's no sidewalk or bike lane, but we did find a path to a hiking trail that followed the Black River, which was beautiful in the snow! Also nighttime traffic could be loud at times, but just because the house is so close to the road. Beds were comfortable and everything worked great! Highly recommend. Also easy drives to Ludlow, Woodstock and Ascutney.
We had a nice time in the 1820 house. It was a good size for our 2 families of 4. It has large bedrooms and 2 living areas with televisions, which was nice, we used one for adults and one for kids. The kitchen was well stocked with a dual coffee pot (drip & pod) and also many creamers and sweeteners. The dining area has a large table that was able to fit our whole party of 8. The house is close to the street so you do hear the cars going by at night but overall we had a really good time and were comfortable there! Thank you for having us!!
The experience at the 1820 home was great. The touches of comfort included a pantry with some staples and all the amenities of a home away from home. Thank you for offering wonderful accommodations while we skied at Okemo.
had a fantastic time here on a ski trip with friends. house was the perfect size for our group and well stocked with everything we needed. Cynthia was very responsive and answered any of our questions quickly. Would definitely stay here again when we return to Vermont!
My husband and sons had a great weekend skiing while enjoying this lovely home. It’s a pretty old home that is well kept with lots of extras. Also bathrooms and kitchen were updated and nicely stocked with supplies as well as a lovely bottle wine (thank you!). Wonderful way to spend some bonding time together while keeping cozy from the frigid outdoor temps. Definitely a place to keep on our list!
Great house and rental experience, close to Okemo Mountain
We got lucky and found this new listing just in time for our ski trip to Okemo with another family. We were the first guests to stay in the home since Cynthia purchased it and listed it as a rental and I can honestly say, Cynthia thought of just about everything a rental could offer/provide their guests for a comfortable stay! With the listing being brand new, not all information or photos had been posted yet and our group had several questions. Cynthia was very responsive and easy to work with. The house is nicely furnished and stocked. Beds were comfortable and plenty of bath towels were provided, along with misc. supplies (which is not always the case with rentals). We felt there was plenty of room throughout the house for two families and we were all able to sit together at the dining table for dinners. A couple of things to note: The house is very close to the road and cars do travel at fast speeds, so we could hear traffic when in bed, especially since the two "adult" bedrooms face the front of the house. However, this became less of an issue each night after our first as we became more familiar with the sounds of cars. Also, if you have more than one SUV, you won't be able to fit both in the driveway and if they're full size ones, not in the attached garage either but don't worry, there is another driveway on the other side of the house for a vacant building next door which we utilized. Having access to the attached garage with power garage door opener, was super convenient plus having the laundry room/mud room directly off of it, was a perfect place to keep all of our ski boot bags. The house was only 20 minutes to Okemo and the ride was not bad at all. Since we skied both full days we were there and the other two days were travel days, we were not able to explore the area. Cynthia made us feel at home and welcomed us with a nice bottle of wine. We appreciate all that she has done to make this home a comfortable stay for her guests and we will definitely consider it again in the future.
