About this property

Oceanfront Large Beach Estate w/ Pool. Surfers Paradise. Sleeps 16+

CASA DEL SURFISTA is a unique and elegant home designed and built by local artist and architect Gustavo Jasso. Gustavo's use of organic materials and tropical style has turned our property into a relaxing, comfortable getaway. The house, completed in the fall of 2009, is sited on 1.5 acres with 330 feet of oceanfront. The walled property affords incredible privacy. All Inclusive pricing is available. Our caretaker Flora is a CHEF! She loves to cook and offers cooking classes as well. Perfect for family reunions, 4-5 families or 4-5 couples. 4 tradiotnal bedrooms with Air Conditioning and full private bath. 5th bedroom is an open air loft that sleeps 6 with it's own full bathroom. Perfect for all the cousins to bunk up together.

"Adventures with Serafin" (our caretaker) are also available. Here are a few choices:
1. Isla Ixtpa for snorkeling (30min away)- half day excursion
2. Crocodile Conservatory (30min away)- half day excursion
3. Natural Hot Springs and Mud Bath (20min away)-as long as you like
4. Shopping in Zihuatanejo in local market (30min away)- half day excursion
5. Road trip to Patzcuaro (3hrs each way-far but worth it)-full day
6. Visit to Serafin ranch in Uruapan (3hrs each way)-full day

The main palapa is open air and includes two living rooms, two baths and a dining room and kitchen. The pool wraps around the lower living area. There is a huge bedroom loft above with its own bath. The loft has 3 kings or 6 twins. These can be adjusted to fit your needs. We have a bedroom nook off of the living room with it's own bath. We have a separate one room cabana that has a king plus to sleeper sofas. It can sleep 2-4 people and has air conditioning. The other 3 bedrooms are king room with air-conditioning and their own private bath. The upstairs bedroom has 2 sleeper sofas as well. This room can sleep 2-6. Our home has one and a half acres of land and has 330 feet of beachfront in La Saladitas. It is extremely quiet and private with a wall around the entire property. Most days you will be the only one on the beach. We have created a private beach around the pool area as well.

SURFING at La Saladitas is a great place. We are one mile to the well known break La Saladitas (aka the wave machine) claiming the longest lefts in Mexico. La Saladitas is a great longboarder wave and great for kids. We also have a beach break right in front of the house if you are a shortboarder. Twenty minutes away is The Ranch. We have onsite caretaker named Flora and Serafin that live on property, and can be hired to prepare meals or take you fun adventures.
As for surfboards, we rent soft tops at our house but we suggest renting boards at Lourdes for convenience.
YOGA RETREATS can be arranged for an additional fee. We have an instructor from the US who will come down and personalize your yoga vacation. She is available at anytime with advanced notice. She does amazing Thai massage as well.

All inclusive rates available. This would include all your meals, food preparation and clean up by Flora. Call or email to get rates. Flora also offers cooking classes!

Beautiful setting and home
Felix (the on-site caretaker) and family were lovely and helpful. The tour of their outdoor kitchen was awesome and they made us feel welcome and safe. -the kids loved sleeping outside in the loft -the pool & pool floats were great, even when an Iguana took a dip in our pool (and Felix expertly got him out) -grounds were well maintained, landscaping was beautiful -beach was super accessible and surf boards/ boogey boards were super fun -various lounge areas in the main house were comfy

Sun & Surf Paradise
This place is awesome ! Right on the beach, good waves in front, great waves 200m down the beach , and world class waves just a 5 min. drive to Saladita. The Cook/Housekeeper is a must with super authentic and fresh Mexican cuisine- There is also a pizza oven. The rooms are comfortable and private, the Palapa is perfect for chilling. Great pool for relaxing as well. This place is very private. Our group never wanted to leave this Paradise.

Peaceful and fun getaway
This open air beachfront house is so magical! Beginning every morning with freshly made coffee while looking at the surf and having a delicious breakfast made by the lovely caretakers is the best way to start the day! Then you can either surf or go for a walk along the beautiful quiet beach or just sit and read alongside the large and very clean pool or have an activity organized for you like yoga or a trip into Troncones for some fun and shopping by Pam's wonderful staff. Come home later for an open-air massage all arranged for you! The prepared food is fresh and fantastic! If, like me you prefer to sleep in an air-conditioned room there are 4 of those on the property - very comfortable beds, nice linens and clean and bright with lovely large bathrooms. The property itself is right on a peaceful stretch of beach with a large grassy area surrounding the home if the kids want to play and lots of gorgeous spots to sit and relax or play board games and have fun with friends and family. The others I was with raved about the surfing to be done right in front of the house! Pam and her staff are very communicative and helpful with any questions you may have about the home, activities, food, airport - anything so you will feel comfortable and happy and at peace in this beautiful getaway!!

Girls Trip
Amazing! Magical property right on the beach. There were 10 of us traveling from all of the US. Each of us were blown away by the beauty of the house, pool and beach front. Everything was so easy and if you needed anything there was always prompt help. The outdoor sleeping in the open palapa was just an incredible experience! Even the girls that wanted walls loved the outdoor sleeping under the netting!! if you just wanted to lounge by the pool read a book or have a cocktail or if you wanted to surf or fish everything was easy to get to and navigate. Meals were all delicious and cook made accommodations for people with food restrictions. Everything was homemade! Everyone on the trip had a very special vacation and can’t wait to book again! I highly recommend this property over others along the beach. As it’s very private but easily accessible. Everyone is already planning for next years trip!

Extraordinary amazing place for our family vacation!
Our family of 9 adults and 4 children gathered together at Pam’s beautiful home. The main open air living area looked out over the ocean. So many comfy spots for hanging out! The beach just steps away. The grounds were beautiful. Grass all around. We played football and baseball catch on the grass. The pool was nice and big and we spent a lot of time swimming. There’s a shallow spot on one end and a shallow edge all along long one side of pool. My son surfs and the surfing right in front of the house was great for him and our beginning surfers. Body surfing and boogie board surfing was so much fun too. My husband and I slept up in the loft area under netting and I fell asleep to the roaring ocean every night. Beds were very comfy. The full bathroom in loft was a wonderful plus. The little casita next to the main house fit my daughter and husband and 3 kids. The side couches were perfect beds for them (ages 10, 8, 7). And I liked how close it was to the main house. The other 3 bedrooms are just a very short walk from main house. All bedrooms had beautiful bathrooms and showers that felt like you were outside. There was also an outdoor shower near the steps going up to top bedroom. Beds and linens were extremely comfortable. Now on to the food! We had all meals served and they were so delicious. Ari was an amazing cook. We choose 8:00, 1:00 and 7:00 for meal times, but Ari is flexible and will do whatever works for your family. Fresh tortillas at every meal. Fresh juices and many different kinds of salsas. Ari offered to have a tortilla making session for the kids (and adults) and that was so much fun. My granddaughter came to love tortillas and asked Ari to make her 5 for the plane ride home!! Felix and Karen live on the property close to the front gate. Karen did all the daily cleaning of bedrooms and helped Ari in the kitchen. Felix did all the dishes and helped run the house. Felix cut down fresh coconuts for us. Tony also ran the house and scheduled our horseback riding tour one day. He also called 5 masseuses to come to the house. Pam was very quick to respond to my many questions! I gave her a list of groceries and they were here when we arrived. Pam’s home was built with much love and thoughtfulness. It was cozy with beautiful views and I hope to return in 2 years with our family.

Truly Magical
I can't begin to say how wonderful and honestly magical our stay was. This property is an escape to a private paradise where all your needs are met. There is really no need to even leave. The caretakers/cook Flora and Serafin took care of all 15 of us with personal attention to everyone from 13 year olds to adults. I can't recommend hiring them more. Their attention made the beautiful property beyond relaxing. The listing doesn't even do the property justice. It was spotlessly clean. The accommodations were exactly as described. The beds, linens and towels are comfortable. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. The beach is private and seems like your own personal slice of heaven. The owner was easy to communicate with and responsive to all questions. I cannot wait to plan the next trip there!

Wonderful surfing paradise
The Casa del Surfista is an extremely welcome surprise in the Northern Guerrero beaches, the house commands a 50 meter ocean front with a beach side pool and 4 double rooms and a 5 bedroom “tapanco” over the main common areas that works perfectly for teens and kids. The staff is a couple, Flora and Serafin, who provide the local flavor to the place, both with Flora’s amazing cooking and their friendly chatter. We had an amazing time and will surely find the time to repeat this trip in the future.

Mexican wilderness on the coast
The property worked perfectly for a friends surf trip to mexico. Palapa accommodated our group of 20 quite comfortable during the day. One thing of note while they advertise 5 bedrooms one of the rooms is not a bedroom but a daybed outside in the palapa. So only 4 true bedrooms that have 4 walls, a bath room and air conditioning. We had rented another house so we had to send the guests who were slated for the 5th bedroom to the other house. Other than that the location is great with no other people around. It’s very remote which was exactly what we wanted. The food was pretty good and very authentic. Overall it was great for my 50th birthday party.

Magical
We are a group of friends who go on an annual surf trip and this is by far the most special vacation rental we have stayed in. Most of your time is spent outdoors because the main structure is the palapa which opens directly to the pool and beach. We were a large group and many of the group slept outdoors in the beds in the palapa and were comfortable. Because it is outdoors you have to coexist with wildlife, including bats (and guano) but the bats keep the bugs away! The weather was perfect, and the sunsets are incredible. There is a beach surf break right in front of the house and it is good for both longboarding and shortboarding. It is also a short car ride away (or 1.5 mile walk) from La Saladita which is an amazing longboarding break with surf rentals. But by far the best part of the experience is Flora and Serafin, the caretakers who live on the property and put so much thought and care into making the place beautiful and comfortable. You can ask them for help with anything you need (water, toilet paper). And if you choose to have Flora cook for your group, you will be blown away. Flora’s food is fresh and varied and incredibly delicious (down to the homemade tortillas). You will love it here!

Paradise Found!
This property is fantastic, it feels like a piece of paradise in the middle of the nowhere. The main palapa is spacious and has lots of different seating spaces, the pool and lounge chairs are great and the hammock and day beds were in constant use! The bedrooms are well appointed and comfortable, with air conditioning and amenities. The surf break at La Saladita is about a 5 minute drive away, we had a car and used it to drive our kids to surf lessons there every morning. Tip: take water shoes! Access to the beach is rocky, water shoes are very useful.

A surfer's paradise!
I have stayed several times at Casa del Surfista. This house is one of my favorite spots in the world! My favorite thing about the house is the indoor/outdoor living aspect. Because of the open air design of the house, I feel like I am outside, enjoying the fresh, warm ocean air the entire time that I am there. I am not a fan of air conditioning (although it's available in the casitas), and I never need air conditioning in the house because the house takes advantage of ocean breezes and fans (when necessary). The whole property feels clean and well maintained. I love the scenic pool that overlooks the ocean for a post-surf dip. Another reason that I love spending a vacation at Casa del Surfista is because it is one of the most relaxing ways to spend a week. The caretakers who are also amazing cooks, do all of my meals. There is nothing better than waking up to a breakfast (and coffee) already cooked and a delicious dinner waiting for me when I get home from surfing. I don't spend endless time searching out restaurants and spending money on food that isn't good. I love to return to the house after surfing and read and relax without worrying about the next meal. On my last visit there was a new addition to the property; the "taco bar." Flora, one of the caretakers, cooks up homemade tortillas and tacos at the open-air taco bar and wood-fired stove. It was delicious! I have been to Casa del Surfista several times with my family and/or large groups. The house is ideal for families or groups. Again, because you have someone to cook and clean for you, all you have to do is enjoy and relax. And there is plenty of room for a lot of people. The hanging bed which overlooks the ocean is a great way to spend an afternoon reading or napping. During my last stay my husband I and slept in the "shark room," which is located in a different building from the main house. It is a beautiful, modern room. In keeping with the rest of the property, the bathroom has an open air aspect. The window in the shower is open and overlooks the expansive jungle area inland from the beach. It feels like showering outdoors, but in a private bath. It's amazing! Lastly, I love that I can choose to surf the long break at La Salitida, or even directly in front of the house where I have the wave all to myself! I really can't say enough about how much I love this house. I just wish I could go more often!

unique, restful, beautiful setting
Location: We flew into ZIH. Renting cars was challenging and frustrating. Pam , the owner helped us out with this. The drive was about 1 hour with the last 20 mins on a very bumpy road. The property and views - gorgeous and - quite private. Maybe due to the time of year the beach was partly sand with rocks making it challenging to walk very far with out good footwear. Right in front of the home was a nice sandbar, so we could walk out and play in the waves or surf. We made trips to Los Llamos , a close town for some provisions, Playa Salidita for surfing, and Troncones. Most of us were happy to hang out right at the Home with the beach and pool. Home: quite well described previously, very impressive and for almost a week we had 17 people- 9 kids and 8 adults. We all fit well, and had enough areas to enable privacy. I think it is important to note that the main villa is open air as described, we loved spending the days outside, with the beautiful ocean view. We did have some bugs spiders and bats. I view this a part of the experience of spending so much time outside in the warm climate. If you are looking for a closed off, paved, indoor, or less natural environment - better to stay elsewhere. The rooms were comfortable and if you wanted the a/c was working - otherwise you can hear the ocean waves . The children slept in the main house without A/C and were very comfortable , it cooled down nicely at night. Food and organizing details: The owner Pam was efficient and helpful. The family that looked after the house and grounds and food were outstanding. The food absolutely delicious and very fresh. It was a luxury to have Flora and her family buy, prepare and clean up after the meals. Definite benefit if you know spanish , which I don't, but my beginner spanish improved and I am committed to learning more so I can go back and visit Casa del Surfista.

Luxury Private Beach Vacation
CASA DEL SURFISTA is gorgeous!! We had an amazing girls trip. The villa was spacious and had so much beautiful outdoor space, our group of 6 people had plenty of room to spread out. We spent our days relaxing by the pool and could not have been happier with the whole experience. The caretakers, Flora and Sarafine, are simply wonderful in every way and Flora is a fabulous cook. Her meals are delicious. She made breakfast, lunch and dinners for us every day and we enjoyed every meal. The house is extraordinary - gorgeous architecturally, and completely open to the ocean. And of course, the setting cannot be beat. Pam, the owner, helped us schedule Natalie, a fantastic yoga instructor and masseuse to come to the house. It doesn’t get any closer to Paradise!

We were in La Saladita for our wedding and had 49 guests, who came in from all over the country and Columbia. We rented 5 properties on the beach, but evey morning we started with a big breakfast at Casa Surfista. Flora and her family did a great job and were very nice. The pool was so nice and clean and the rooms were as well. Thanks for helping create some wonderful memories for all of us! ❤️

Stunning beach palace w/incredible staff, a dream!
Casa del Surfista is an all around incredible rental if you have a large group. Everything about it felt like a dream -- relaxing in the daybed and hammocks just steps from the shoreline, practicing yoga by the beautiful pool and watching sunsets from the cozy living spaces, basking in the incredible architecture of the bedrooms and bathrooms...you couldn't ask for a better space for a yoga retreat, family reunion, or group getaway. Our favorite part of all however was the staff. Flora cooked the most incredible meals every single day and Sarafim had us laughing every second, with incredible stories of his heritage and the history of Saladita. It was a true family, homey feel with a paradise backdrop and all our needs were more than covered. There's no wifi which we enjoyed, keeping us present and disconnected from the digital world, because why would you have your attention anywhere else?! Thank you to everyone for giving us the trip of a lifetime. What an amazing trip!

Everything is perfect at casa del surfista. Highly recommended for families, groups, couples, etc
We had an amazing stay at this house. When we first pulled up, my jaw literally dropped, the grounds & property are so stunning. The property is comprised of a few different buildings, with some of the “cabinas” (aka: sleeping quarters) separate from the living & dining space, giving everyone plenty of privacy. I stayed in one of the modern bungalows, which has a California King-sized bed, A/C and private bath. While we were there, there was also an onsite chef & caretaker who was incredible. Food was delicious (handmade tortillas on the chimnea every night!!) and service wonderful. Unlike many VRBO’s or vacation rentals, where you still have to do some “chores” (cook/clean up after meals, make your bed, etc), the staff took care of all of that. This felt more like a hotel or retreat space. We didn’t have to think about meals, cleaning, making our beds, or anything. Heaven! What I loved most was that there was ample space for us to hang out during the day—comfortable lounge chairs, hammock, hanging beds, cozy alcoves, etc—around the pool and facing the ocean. The place is incredibly well-designed, with an eye toward a natural aesthetic. The pool has a larger shallow part to it, which would be perfect for little kids to splash in—though we mostly made use of it for a quick dip after surfing. Surfing in La Saladita, which is a quick drive or 20 min walk is amazing—I was in longboard heaven!! I hope to return very soon!

This wonderful beachfront home is beyond compare. Days of surfing empty waves and sleeping in open air palapa with the sound of surf to lull you to sleep. Caretakers are wonderful and food authentic and fantastic. Very spacious lounging areas and various hammocks and hanging bed to gaze out to the ocean. Very clean and multiple showers to choose from. The grounds are beautiful with flowers and greenery to appeal to the senses. Very private and safe to enjoy the property without concern. This is truly the most dreamy vacation home ever.

Absolutely Amazing
This was honestly one of the best vacations we have had. There were 14 of us staying here, ranging in age from 12 - 60 years old. It simply worked out perfectly for our extended family. The layout of the buildings was ideal; the 3 adult couples stayed in the 3 lovely bedrooms in one building, the 6 kids stayed all together in another separate building, and there was still room for 6 more people in the upstairs loft of the main building. The main building was ideal for lounging around the pool, eating all together, or relaxing under cover. The grounds were beautiful and it was easy to "escape" to a quiet area if you wanted to, whether it was to the hammock or the swinging bed overlooking the beach. The beach right out front was perfect for beginning to intermediate surfers, and perfect for boogie boarding (we took our own). The beach access was so easy, and the area for playing in the water directly in front of the home is all sandy bottom. We also had the absolute pleasure of meeting the Hernandez family who are the caretakers and who we hired to cook breakfasts and dinners for us. They were so lovely and the cooking was fabulous; all authentic Mexican food and they were always accommodating if needed. They were always so happy to help, and they became an integral part of our experience there. I can't imagine trying to arrange all the food for 14 people, grocery shop and cook the meals. They took care of all of this, allowing us to just enjoy and play all day. This property is fairly remote, which we loved. There is no WIFI (Yeah) but you could walk 2-3 km down the beach and hang out at a local restaurant to have WIFI if you wanted to. I would highly recommend this destination if you are looking for a beautiful location, you are an active family, or if you just want to relax in an unbelievably beautiful setting. We simply loved everything about it.

WE FINISHED OUR HOUSE IN LA SALADITA IN 2009.. WE PICKED THIS AREA BECAUSE OF THE WAVES, THE PEOPLE AND THE BEAUTY OF THE LANDSCAPE. OUR HOUSE TOOK 2 YEARS TO BUILD. ALOT OF THOUGHT AND TIME WENT INTO ALL THE DETAILS OF OUT HOUSE. WE WANTED A VERY ORGANIC STYLE HOUSE WITH A FEELING OF CALM AS SOON AS YOU WALK IN THE DOOR. THE DOWNSTAIRS IS VERY BRIGHT AND HAPPY. OUR UPSTAIRS LOFT HAS WOODEN FLOORS AND WITH THE PALAPA ROOF IT HAS A JAPANESE ZEN FEELING. JUST RECENTLY WE FINISHED THE MODERN CABINA THAT HAS A VERY MINIMLAIST FEEL TO IT. RECENTLY WE HAVE BEEN GROWING SOME FRUIT TREES, RAISNG CHICKENS AND A FEW OTHER ORGANIC ITEMS AS WE ARE MOVING INTO MORE OF A SMALL ECO RESORT FEELING. FLORA DOES A LOT OF FARM TO TABLE STYLE COOKING. WE ARE SO EXCITED TO HELP HER PURSUE HER LOVE OF MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY THROUGH HER FOOD.

Why they chose this property

LA SALADITA IS A UNIQUE AREA. IT IS WELL KNOW BY SURFERS BUT HAS SO MUCH MORE TO OFFER. IT IS A VERY QUIET AREA NOT OVERBUILT AND EXTREMELEY BEAUTIFUL. THE WEATHER IS VERY CONSISTENT EVEN IN THE WINTER. THE TEMPERATURE IS ALWAYS BETWEEN 80-90 DEGREES. THE WATER IS ALWAYS IN THE 80'S. THE LOCAL PEOPLE ARE VERY NICE AND IF YOU SPEAK SPANISH THEY WILL TALK WITH YOU ALL DAY. THERE ARE ALSO MANY BREAKS TO CHOOSE FROM. TAKE A PANGA TO THE RANCH AND PALO ALTO, SURF SALADITAS OR SURF OUR WAVE INFRONT OF THE HOUSE. THERE ARE WAVES IN TRONCONES AND IXTAPA AS WELL IF YOU WANT TO EXPLORE THE COAST.

What makes this property unique

SURF YOUR OWN PRIVATE BREAK IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE
PRIVATE YOGA & PILATES PLATFORM ON THE BEACH OVERLOOKING THE WAVES
1.5 ACRES ON THE BEACH FOR LOTS OF PRIVACY
ENDLESS WALKING ON THE BEACH IN ANY DIRECTION
PERFECT FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES - SHALLOW END AT THE POOL WITH LOTS OF SHADY AREAS
PRIVATE WHITE BEACH UP AT THE POOL AREA
