Words cant describe how beautiful and special this location is. We enjoyed every second of our stay. The lovely hosts really have something amazing here. They put so much love and care into every detail of their property and it shows. We will definitely come back every year. Especially since my now fiance proposed in front of the lake.
From the moment we entered this neighborhood and property we knew we would thoroughly enjoy our stay. The views and wildlife are magical, and the house is a true work of art. The owners are extremely attentive to details to ensure your stay is above yours and your dog’s expectations. It’s comfortable and well-stocked with a spa-like feel. The large pond is beautiful day and night, with more than ample spaces supplied with places to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Main Street Sonora and surrounding area is chock-full of tasty places to eat, drink, shop and learn about the gold rush. Thank you to our most excellent hosts, Lisa and Brandon, for a wonderful stay. We will be back!
There’s so much I could say but I want my review to be helpful to others when choosing this property because you should!! Lisa and her husband Brendan are amazing people and have a gorgeous hidden gem. They left us great recommendations on what to do in the area and we’re very attentive. My boyfriend proposed to me during our stay and they brought us treats! The Sonora birds nest will be a recurring trip for us! Even though our stay was during the crazy rain we were cozy and loved the views, at night you can hear the creek and it perfect. If you’re going in the cooler months make sure to bring warm clothes! It does get chilly and Lisa does make sure you know this which we appreciated! Thank you so much for the best trip ever!! - The future Mr and Mrs Christensen
Lovely place for a couple to get away. Beautiful scenery and lots to do in the area. Enjoyed the history and wildlife of the area. Our puppy really seemed to enjoy the new smells. Great place to stargaze while you listening to the crickets and frogs in the background.
This cabin has to be one of the best places I’ve stayed hands down. It is clean, new feeling and utterly the most charming space. It has a view of a pond with wildlife all the live long day. I pick the spot specifically to hide from all the 4th fireworks due to having a pooch that hates fireworks. “The nest” is just perfect and I loved everything about it. I do plan to return, hopefully next year for the fourth. And Lisa was just awesome. Very responsive and very kind. She convey consistently kindness in her communication with me. 10 out of 10 for everything!!! Thank you soooo much for a wonderful experience!!!
This place was just as magical in person as in the pictures! I loved the seclusion of the location. The hosts are kind and attentive. The kitchen is well stocked for simple cooking and BBQing. The decor is fun and enchanting. The bed is super comfy. There is a fire table to enjoy while viewing the stars, or you could just lay in bed to enjoy them as there is a skylight right above the bed. I would highly recommend this location for a great, relaxing stay !
We really enjoyed our time at this property and hobbit house. Close to many fun adventures but hard for us to want to leave the property to venture out because it's so peaceful and private. Loved the wildlife that visit the pond. A great place to get away from the everyday.
We stayed for three nights and loved every minute of our time here. The birds and baby ducklings were so wonderful. We just sat on the top deck and listened and watched them. The morning sun and evening sun on the top deck was perfect for enjoying a beverage and just being still. Our hosts were very thoughtful and checked in on us via text to make sure we had everything we needed. My husband and I were glad to spend our 32nd anniversary at this beautiful place!
This house was made for someone like me. Charming in all the right ways. We brought my senior dog along, and the sweet amenities (snacks, beds, blankets) were much appreciated. The view was lovely with just the sounds of the creek and birds to accompany our days. A nice place to get away from the hustle of the city. Host was very responsive throughout the whole process. This was what we were looking for. Thank you!
We had the best weekend stay here with our dog! The space is so quaint and charming and they have filled all the rooms with such sweet little touches all around. The rock wall shower was so cool! They have nice appliances and plenty of wall outlets both upstairs & downstairs. It was so fun to lay in bed and watch all the animal activity around the pond in the mornings.
The hosts were so gracious and helpful with suggestions of where to do and what to do. They even let us use their sleds for a snow day! They were always quick with their responses and wonderful hosts!
If you are looking for a sweet little getaway, this is the spot! I would love to come back again!
Thank you for such a nice weekend in your magical space!

Our kids are now 11 and 16 and we love to travel and explore. We really enjoy nature and slowing down. I'm a massage therapist, and Brendan is an Industrial Designer. We love to host and have been doing it for 6 years.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this property. Rolling oaks, seasonal pond, deer, geese, turkeys, osprey, fish, bobcats, foxes, coyotes and more. This is a historic gold mill pond. We've found artifacts from the gold rush and love to explore. The house is one of a kind. Featured in design magazines it is an earth build cob house. The views are amazing, the vibe is healing. Bring a book, and a hand to hold.
What makes this property unique
Close to Yosemite, Gold Country, Skiing and lots of fun towns.
