Ophelia's Villa: Waterfront Luxury with Private Pool

SPRING AND SUMMER DATES ARE FILLING UP Welcome to Ophelia’s Villa, a custom designed 3 level home on a waterfront lagoon lot in a quiet residential area in Maya Beach and only 300 yards from beach access points in Placencia. The villa will provide a space for connection, relaxation, and stunning sunrise and sunset views. We love Maya Beach for the beach community vibe, fine dining, beach bars and resorts in a beautiful area of Placencia. Maya Beach is only 6 miles from the vibrant Placencia Village and is a jumping-off point for many of the fantastic excursions Belize has to offer.

*Placencia is located in southern Belize and requires a short domestic flight or a scenic 2.5hr drive from from the int’l airport in Belize City. We can assist with options.

The home features 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, large eat in open concept kitchen and dining room, and comfortable living area. The large primary suite, located on the second level offers amazing waterfront views as well as a semi-private covered veranda. The resort style pool with large deck and outdoor shower overlooks the water and beautiful Maya Mountains.


The large open rooftop deck with lounge couches and bar with barstools, provides the perfect place for relaxing while offering a panoramic view off the lagoon, mountains and a front row spot to watch both the sunrise and sunset as well as manatee, dolphins, and other wildlife.


Ophelia’s Villa is more than a vacation rental. We provide an experience for our guests through personal touches, details, and enhancements such as private cooking, arrival grocery shopping, massages, photography options, and more. We have a local team dedicated to ensuring it is cleaned and maintained to the highest standards and to make your stay an incredible experience. We are hospitality experts.


Ground Level:
Enjoy your private resort style pool with tanning ledge, lounge chairs, umbrellas, pool floats, and a shady hammock hangout area. You will also have access to a pool bathroom and outdoor shower complete with hot/cold water. Night stargazing from the shower is encouraged.

Guests can enjoy complimentary bicycles, fishing poles, 2 double kayaks, and lifejackets. If you enjoy grilling, we have a Belizean drum grill for all the fish you will catch. If your group enjoys games, we created a Caribbean style game room with giant jenga, large connect 4, hook & ring toss, dart board, and a regulation size horseshoe pit. If you enjoy working out, we have a covered outdoor workout area with yoga mats and blocks, weights, and exercise roller.

2nd Level:
3 beautifully appointed bedrooms, one with ensuite bath, can be found on the 2nd level. 2 queen bedrooms and one bedroom with 2 sets of twin beds. An open-concept chef kitchen, dining area and living area with sofa and a large Roku TV. The TV stands converts to a twin Murphy bed for an extra sleeping space. There is a large waterfront veranda on the main level with an outdoor dining space, sofa, and chairs so you can relax and enjoy the views.


3rd Level Rooftop Deck

Rooftop deck with a large sofa, chairs, coffee table, high-top bar and barstools all offering a stunning view of the sunrise and sunset. The rooftop deck is equipped with night time lighting that elevates the mood and vibe.

The villa has lots of stairs and railings. The pool area is NOT gated and guests have unobstructed access to the Placencia Lagoon. These areas pose risk to unattended small children and non-swimmers. The villa is unsuitable for elderly or infirm and is wheelchair inaccessible.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE PRIOR TO BOOKING:

OUR LOCAL TEAM:
Our local team does not live on property. However, our team is on property 2-3 days a week maintaining landscaping, pool, and exterior maintenance. At check-in, we provide visibility to the days you can expect the team to be onsite. They will never go inside the villa without permission.

NOISE EXPECTATIONS:
This is a home to enjoy nature and each other, not a party house. We do have neighbors and voices carry, especially in the shores of the lagoon and directly to our immediate neighbors ears. Please keep outdoor noise and poolside music at a low level.

No amplified music outside after 8pm, and excessive late night noise after 9pm will not be tolerated by our community of neighbors (who are our friends). Unplug and enjoy the sounds of the birds, the breeze, fish jumping in the lagoon and the rustling of the trees.

ENVIRONMENT SENSORS
To ensure you have a wonderful stay we have environment sensors. They Monitor temperature, humidity, noise, smoke helping us keep our home and neighborhood safe, healthy, and comfortable. As we respect your privacy, we chose a device that is 100% privacy safe. It is camera-free (we have NO cameras on our property) and does not record any sounds, images, or personal data.

We will notify you if any environmental conditions need to be addressed, such as noise decibels exceeding the pre-approved threshold or excess humidity in the home.

VISITING A DEVELOPING COUNTRY
Belize is a developing country with limited infrastructure and a finite amount of resources. We ask that our guests be mindful of the following things during their stay.

AIR CONDITIONING UNITS
PLEASE DO NOT leave air conditioning units running during the day if you are not home. The house holds the cold air and units can be turned on upon your return. Turning off A/C units helps tremendously in conserving energy. There is a finite amount of electricity in Belize and when the country reaches capacity loading shedding may occur resulting in unplanned power outages.

SEPTIC SYSTEM
The Villa operates with a sensitive septic system, like many accommodations in Belize. We ask that you be mindful of our sensitive septic systems during your visit. Flush only natural waste (poop and pee only) down the toilet. Septic systems in Belize are even sensitive to toilet tissue.

Waste baskets with lids are provided for toilet tissue garbage collection occurs twice a week. We also have an outdoor garbage container to place garbage between collection days.

About Placencia, Belize

Placencia is a beach resort on the Caribbean coast of Belize. It’s at the southern tip of the Placencia Peninsula, known for its palm-lined beaches. Between the peninsula and the mainland, Placencia Lagoon is home to manatees, dolphins, and abundance of wildlife. Offshore, there are dive sites on the coral Belize Barrier Reef.

Placencia is home to the Garífuna community of Seine Bight, which is a hub for traditional drumming and dance.

We love the Placencia Peninsula as it is more laid back than our neighbor to the north, San Pedro/Ambergris Caye. The location is the perfect spot to easily explore the sea adventures (snorkeling, diving, island hopping) as well as inland adventures (zip lining, hiking, cave tubing, Mayan Ruins, and waterfalls to name a few. Come experience the perfect Caribbean destination.

All international flights coming into Belize land at the Belize City Airport (BZE). Our full time concierge will work with you to arrange transportation from BZE to the property. Getting from BZE to the villa is easy with 3 options available: domestic flight, rental car, private shuttle.

Seaweed season on the Caribbean coastline (Cancun area to Belize) is May to October. If you are visiting during those months, you could encounter sargassum seaweed on the beaches and/or in the water. While we can’t control the sargassum, we CAN promise you will NOT experience the sargassum at Ophelia’s Villa. The sargassum doesn’t show up on the lagoon side so our guests do not have to look at or smell the sargassum.
