About this property

Located at the foot of the San Juan National Forest, this majestic vacation resort is a stone’s throw from breathtaking canyons, deserts, and rivers. Here, you can relive Old West Americana and enjoy access to all the attractions and outdoor offerings within the Animas River Valley.

NOTE:
he resort will be experiencing nearby construction directly across the street through September 2025. For the entire construction period, there will be a one-lane closure to the main road leading to the resort and a full closure periodically. Additionally, construction noise will be ongoing from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. You may encounter noise, dust, odors, and work crews during this time. If you have any questions, please reach out to the resort directly.

The resort will be undergoing renovations beginning Oct. 26, 2024 - Dec. 12, 2024. During this time, the resort amenities may not be available for use. Additionally, you may encounter noise, dust, odors, work crews, and limited parking. Dates are subject to change.

At Club Wyndham Durango, these spacious one-bedroom vacation resort suites comfortably sleep up to four guests at 380 square feet, and feature a private bedroom with one king bed and a queen sleeper sofa in the living area. A visit to Durango would not be complete without a ride on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, offering miles of beautiful mountain scenery and an education on the area's mining history.

Nice place

I would stay here again, the location in town is good and the room is as advertised. The only thing I didn't like is the owner told me after the fact that he isn't supposed to VRBO the property so I was told to say he and I were friends which made for an uncomfortable scenario at the front desk but it was fine in the end.

Inflexible, Overpriced, Dated Hotel Room

The location was convenient and it was fairly clean. Not much else positive I can say about this experience. We booked a two night stay so we could drop our son off at Fort Lewis College. The college postponed student move in a week due to Covid. We explained this to the host, even sent the letter we received from the college, and asked to change our reservation date and were told we could not. It wasn't an issue of availability, they had availability for the date we requested to change to. We knew it was non-refundable and never asked for a refund. We get that the Covid situation is difficult for everyone. It is for us as well. We had already taken time off work, booked our travel, etc. A little flexibility on their part would've gone a long way. My husband and I are both frequent business and personal travelers. We've had to change a few reservations during the pandemic and up until now hotels, resorts, airlines, etc. have all been very understanding. Rather than lose the entire amount we paid, which was much higher than other properties or hotels in the area, my husband and son decided to go for a couple days to get to know Durango since he will be going to school there and I planned to take him the following week for move in. Despite the fact that my husband and son's names were on the reservation from the beginning, I booked it so it was technically in my name and we were charged a substantial fee to change it into my husband's name so the two of them could check in without me. This was an expensive and frustrating experience that could've been avoided had we just booked a normal hotel in the area. There are several to choose from. The following week when move in was allowed, my son and I stayed at a nice hotel that was 1/3 of the price of this VRBO, just as clean and conveniently located and more updated. It's a shame that properties like this one give such a bad reputation to VRBO. We stayed in a wonderful VRBO property in Telluride last year that was beautiful, modern, and easy to check into. That made us more comfortable trying it again but after this experience I doubt we will take another chance with VRBO.
