About this property

# 5. The Tipsy Turkey's Den - 1 Bedroom with Amazing Views

Cabin #5, like all our cabins, has been completely remodeled. It is nestled on a hill with literally some of the best valley views around! The duplex cabin is spacious, yet stylishly furnished and has a shared large porch with cabin #6. It also has it's own patio furniture, a wood-burning stove, full-size fridge and fully-loaded kitchen complete with granite counter tops, a 40" flat screen TV, Wi-Fi, microwave, Keurig coffee machine with pods, creamer, and sugar included, recessed lighting, ceiling fan and an AC/heater to make your stay even more comfortable.

This is the perfect duplex for a larger family of four! The kids can do their thing in Cabin #5, while mom and dad can kick it old school next door in Cabin #6! So close, yet so NOT far enough away? Don't worry, we can get you set up in a much larger, more private cabin elsewhere on the property! Sorry kids, one day you'll understand!
Unlike Duplex Cabin 3 and 4, Cabin 5 and 6 have their own separate bedrooms, plus a full kitchen. Similarly, all four duplex cabins have the TVs mounted in the bedrooms, so no couch action here! We're getting right down to business with a movie in bed!
Speaking of getting down to business...we knew if we built it, they would eventually come! This cabin is one of 11 to choose from at the San Diego Mountain Lodge located at Hideout Mountain- a boutique retreat destination on 40 acres of unspoiled nature with an unbelievably cool, one-of-a-kind historic bar and grill called Josie’s Hideout Saloon. Open Friday-Sunday till 5pm, with live music every weekend, weather permitting. Ask us about renting out Josie's Hideout Saloon for your next epic once-a-year event, wedding, reunion, corporate retreat/training or biker get together! No gathering too small! Your live music stage awaits! Delicious catering options, DJs, fog machine, disco balls? What are you waiting for?! Sound exciting enough? Keep reading for more details!

Don't think our backcountry locals are the only wildlife around here! This place is full of wild animals like deer, fox, raccoons, bats, ground squirrels and chipmunks. Keep a steady eye open for rattlesnakes, badgers and mountain lions, oh my! Just make some noise so they know you're coming. Be not afraid, they're honestly much more scared of us than we are of them! Once night falls, keep your ear's peeled for our local pack of coyotes(or a wise owl!) while you star gaze under some of the darkest skies in San Diego County!
We're also very proud to be a birder's paradise with more woodland birds here than you can shake a stick at!
How about a chance to see(and hear!) turkeys, owls, scrub jays, cardinals, wood peckers, hawks, vultures and even the Western Tanager to name a few! Stroll the grounds and let us know what you discover! We love to encourage our guests to unplug and unwind, but in case you want to Netflix and chill, we have all the modern comforts of home covered here too.

Before you turn in for the night, don't forget there is a community fire pit down by Josie's Backyard to enjoy the incredible night sky, offering the perfect place to meet other interesting guests and enjoy a nightcap after a day of local activities with your loved ones. Firewood might be available for purchase on site, otherwise Lake Henshaw is your closet market for anything you might need. If Lake Henshaw is closed, try Santa Ysabel Roadside 79, down the 79 going back towards the town of Santa Ysabel. They're a well-stocked convenient store that stays open till 9 on the weekdays and 10 on Fri./Sat.

So now you see how Hideout Mountain really can put the "wild" back into YOUR life and is thee go-to for the ultimate getaway destination for custom-made festivals, weddings, specialized retreats, corporate meetings, team building, course trainings, family reunions, anniversaries or simply just a romantic weekend with the one you love! Why not invite your friends and make it more the merrier! Get lost together, and more often!
Between our 11 cabins, 2 retro campers and the historic 5 bedroom Adobe Lake View Retreat House, in total we have over 26 beds that could potentially accommodate over 21 couples and up to 5 singles for a total of nearly 50 people with a few couch crashers! With our expanding campground and RV spaces, at least 50 more people tent camping could potentially join in on a unique event here just waiting to be organized! Hit us up with any questions. We want to help make your wildest Hideout dreams come true.

Relaxing weekday getaway
We stayed two nights in cabin #5. Nicely upgraded and very clean. Great view of countryside and part of lake Henshaw. Very peaceful Thursday, but got a bit busier as Friday afternoon weekend folks rolled in. Close to lake, Julian, outdoor activities, and good restaurants.

Cozy cabin, perfect for couples!
My boyfriend and I stayed here for our Anniversary weekend and this little cabin was perfect! Amazing views, picnic tables and hammock chairs out front, wood burning stove, full kitchen. We had to salvage our own kindling wood outside because there were only large logs inside. Would recommend this to my friends and would definitely stay here again!

Great cabin!
Small but very well appointed. Very clean, great location. Walked down to Josie’s Hideout Sunday afternoon for a burger and music. Cabin is just about half way between Santa Ysabel and Julian and lots of hiking trails nearby.
