The lack of adequate air conditioning made it so we could not stay there and had to find other lodging for the two nights we had planned to stay there.
If the owner refunds our payment as he said
He would and fixes the Air Conditioning I could recommend it.
Thank you Joe for your communication and hospitality, along with the great place! Of course I can’t forget the amazing dinner with surprise birthday extras and karaoke at Kou, we won’t soon forget it! Thanks again!
This VRBO was just what we needed when in town for a wedding weekend. Property manager quick to respond & very helpful. Overall very happy with our stay.
We stayed here for my daughter’s birthday, as we were taking her to grand bear lodge. The place has a really cool feel and plenty of room for the family. Everything appeared very clean and organized. The only issue I came across were a few large bugs. I wasn’t too surprised considering it is directly next to the water, and I did let the owner know. Otherwise the stay was great, easy communication and access to the area. Wasn’t able to try to sushi restaurant since they were closed for a vacation but it sounds like it is a great place to eat.
Overall a good trip! Would recommend

We had a great time visiting the area and this apartment fit us perfectly. The owner was available and easy to contact, and the space was surprisingly quiet despite being located directly above a restaurant. (Side note, the sushi/hibachi restaurant was fantastic; We ate there twice and thoroughly enjoyed it!)
The place overall is very cool. Its an older building but was clean and mostly updated. There are a few things in the bedrooms that are kind of weird like light switches that are cut wrong and overlap and windows that aren't completely finished out. Beds are okay but not the most comfortable I've experienced on a VRBO. The atmosphere of the place is cool overall and could be an awesome place to stay with just a few small updates to some of the cosmetic things in the less trafficed areas.
Great location and had everything we needed. It is a little noisy from the Riverfront grill's outdoor patio but we expected that. Joe is great. Will try Koi (restaurant below unit) in the future - hear it is very good. Only complaint is that the water pressure and temperature control in both showers leave much to be desired. Joe seems aware of this issue so hopefully it will be resolved for future travelers.
Great location, place was as advertised - host was fantastic!
Stayed here with 5 total guests. Three bedrooms and the couches were perfect for a group of bikers! There was also an inflatable mattress which was VERY comfortable.
Plenty of room. Lots of counter space. Modern amenities in the kitchen. Two ovens!
The place is above a the owner's Sushi restaurant. We ate there twice and it is pretty excellent.
There is a bar next door with live music and a HUGE patio. It has a full kitchen and the food was great there as well.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
This was SUCH a cool space. We were enthralled when we got there and were in awe of the "cool" factor! But we ran into some snags...
1. The downstairs shower had no hot water...or so we thought. After much trial, error, and frustration, we figured out that if we ran hot water in the bathroom sink, we could get hot water in the shower. But only a light drizzle. Running the hot water in the sink took away from the water pressure in the shower.
2. Trying to get the ceiling fan on but the attached light off was a challenge in the back bedroom. We had to perform quite a balancing act to get to it. Longer cords would be much more convenient.
3. While cooking breakfast Sunday morning, we opened the microwave to discover a moldy, smelly container of queso. It smelled so bad we were afraid to use the microwave for fear our food would absorb the nasty smell.
4. Based on the microwave, the windowsills, room corners, closets, etc, the cleaning prior to our arrival had only been surface. We weren't comfortable using the couch covers or the blankets provided in the front room.
Pros:
Spacious 2 levels
Bathroom on each level
Nice kitchen area
Nice eating area w/ stools
Tasty restaurant downstairs
Provided toilets like soap, shampoo and towels
Fridge could store all our groceries
Couches were comfy
Nice lighting in the bathroom plus a make up mirror
Free parking available
Multiple restaurants in that street
Nice serene view of the river
Host was responsive to messages
Cons:
Shower turns cold after a short 7 minutes or so
Bathroom light went out and there was no quick fix for it.
No directions on how to work the lights or tv
Leather in the couches was peeling
No seasonings in the kitchen
No garbage in the bathrooms (ladies)
Sound of freight trains was distributed

The apparent was big, roomy, and clean. They had all necessary things you'd need in a kitchen, including little things you may forget like salt & pepper. The only things I did not like was the hot water only lasted about 10 mins and some pretty loud trains were passing from 1am - 3am
My girlfriends and I met in the middle (Peoria & Chicago) for a fun girls weekend; the place was so cool and there’s a fun bar next door. We ventured out to dinner at Thyme in Lasalle; would definitely meet there again.
