About this property

Welcome to Briar Glen Cottage. Fully remodeled house in rural East Texas. Come sit in the rockers on the porch and enjoy the quiet. You may see deer in the yard or the neighbor’s yard. Enjoy dinner on the patio, swing in the hammock, build a fire in the fire pit or stay in and watch Direct TV. Children have their own secret playroom. Close to First Monday in Canton. About 40 minutes to Lindale and Tyler. Callender Lake is the best kept secret in East Tx. The community offers a fishing pier (about 3/10 mile away), boat launch, swim area and park, each of which are a short distance away, on a private 365 acre lake. Bring your water toys! Great vacation getaway!!

This is a rural location so you may see a couple of friendly neighborhood dogs. There may be other loose dogs in the neighborhood as well. Also, depending on your cell phone carrier, your signal may be weak which may require you to step outside.

Briar Glen Cottage comfortably sleeps 8 people. We can accommodate two more people, but if so, they would need to sleep on the floor. If you wish to add up to two more people, there will be an additional charge of $20 per person per night. We require that you let us know about any additional guests when you book. Any unauthorized overnight guests will be grounds for cancellation through VRBO for failing to abide by our House Rules.

Please be considerate of our great neighbors by keeping quiet hours from 9 PM to 8 AM.

Trusted venue

Holiday overflow stayed in this trusted venue for the third year. We think of it as a second home, just 5 minutes from Grandma’s house. Always welcoming, the cottage was decorated for Christmas and absolutely charming. Can’t wait for next year!

Nice rural getaway

Spacious living areas and well equipped kitchen as well as a nice outdoor space for hanging out. The owner left us a firewood bundle for the firepit and we really enjoyed that one night. The community is gated and locked and the house comes with one key card, so if you weren't planning for your whole group to be together all the time, then this will make for a logistical challenge. For us, we were all one pack, so it wasn't a problem.

Everything Wonderful

We rented this home to have family over during the eclipse. The property was beautifully decorated, comfortable, and located in a great place. Anything we needed had been thought of. Beautiful home

Our family enjoyed Christmas at this lovely place. The entire house had been decorated for the holidays, including a beautiful tree. We enjoyed the fire pit at night and the porch in the day. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to cook our Christmas dinner. The grounds were well kept and we even enjoyed some deer across the street.

Comfy and cozy cottage in the woods!

We felt right at home in this lovely home. The owner was very accommodating. She went out of her way to bring us a gate key when we left ours at the house. The adorable seasonal decor made the home feel welcoming. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked. The king size bed in the master was comfortable. Each morning we woke up to deer in the front yard. It was peaceful and quiet. It was the perfect retreat during a crazy wedding weekend. We look forward to returning in warmer weather to enjoy the lake.

Perfect getaway!

This property was beautiful! The house was immaculate with everything we could have needed. The area is quite peaceful, we loved watching the deer roam the yard. Super comfy beds, too! Perfect for our friends trip to Canton. This one will stay on our list for sure!

We had 7 women staying here for an annual retreat. The house is so cute and comfortable. We loved all the details. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. Communication was clear and quick. We definitely want to come back!

Comfortable and very clean home!

The beds were great, plenty of hot water, house is probably the best stocked vrbo ever! We were there for First Monday Trade Days. Pretty country road drive for about 30 minutes, enjoyed the trip there and back. People in the neighborhood were real friendly. Loved the outdoor pit area.

Lovely rural cottage

We had such a wonderful stay at this cottage and it was just what we had hoped. Very clean home, comfortable beds, and a great living room with large sofa for our group. Kitchen had all the supplies needed to cook some meals; we found some great restaurants in Tyler and Athens, too, about 20 or 30 minutes away. Our visit was during Christmas as we were visiting family nearby and the seasonal decorations were above and beyond, so cute!! It made our time away from home (and some very stressful travel) fun, comfortable, and relaxing. We appreciated the host's excellent directions and communication! 😁

My husband and I have owned property in this neighborhood since 2009. We purchased this house in August of 2021. It was our desire to offer a quiet haven to guests but allow them to still be close to Canton and the other beautiful places in East Texas. We live just half a mile away. We just moved here permanently from Richardson, Tx in February 2021. We love the rural setting, the beautiful sunsets over the lake and the quiet country life here.

Why they chose this property

If you need to escape city life, this is the place to be. The cottage sets in the back of the subdivision with only two immediate neighbors. The community is gated. The trees are gorgeous and the fishing pier is just a 2 minute drive away (or walkable) for beautiful sunsets. You can also hang out at the public beach, children’s park or bring your own boat to launch. Callender Lake is a small private 365 acre lake. You could also bring your own canoes or kayaks.
