About this property

Cozy Cottage Retreat on Little Wappinger Creek with Spring Fed Swimming Pond

Originally a homestead from the1800's this cottage on the Little Wappinger Creek is a charmer a mile from the Taconic Parkway. Just 15 minutes from both Red Hook and Rhinebeck our cottage was recently re-imagined by an interior designer and has all the coziness of a welcomed retreat and is a perfect outpost to explore the Hudson Valley. Our home has 2 bedrooms, one full and one 1/2 bath, a full eat-in kitchen with dining table and breakfast bar as well as a deck to enjoy the pristine nature and abundant wildlife. Whether your up visiting Bard College, taking in a weekend retreat at Omega Institute or just exploring the region the Creek Cottage is your home away from home.

The Space

You'll find comfy throws and pillow, memory foam beds, a wood burning stove and an outdoor fire pit with plenty of split wood and kindling. The kitchen has been updated with a modern stove and refrigerator and enough kitchenware to make a great meal. Pop some popcorn and cozy up to the 60" TV or turn off the world and work on your novel while musing the running creek outside your window.

Rustic Romantic with Modern Amenities
My wife and I booked Joe and Paula's place as an anniversary getaway and it was perfect. Upon entering, we immediately felt the warmth and welcome of the house. It's beautiful, with well thought out details that make it feel truly special, wonderful grounds, and a kitchen with everything you need. Paula and Joe were always available when needed and left us to ourselves when not. The area is near a number of cute towns with excellent restaurants, antiquing and shopping as well as hiking and other outdoor activities. There are also a number of arts and cultural events -- we went to a music festival in Woodstock and there are theater and visual arts venues in the area as well. We even went for a walk near the house and came upon a farm store and distillery up the road so there's lots to discover in the area. All in all, Joe and Paula's place is the kind of place we dream of living -- we really didn't want to leave and will surely book again the next time we're in the area.

lovely cabin in the woods!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Paula & Joe’s cabin. It was perfect for the two of us and had all the amenities we needed and more. The cabin is lovely and tastefully decorated. A perfect escape. We would definitely stay there again.

Paula originally from Massachusetts went to school here in the Hudson Valley and fell in love with the area and promised herself she would someday move here. She and her partner lived the city life pursuing careers in the arts for 20 years and found the opportunity to make her promise come true. We have enjoyed opening our homestead to friends and guests for the past 10 years.
