About this property

Bayfield Farmhouse Sleeps 16 - 4 bdrm/2 baths king

Lake Superior Vacation offers Onion River Ranch and Meadow Cabin as serene family-friendly, Fido too, vacation stays. Nestled between Bayfield & Washburn, the Farmhouse and Meadow Cabin are a close 1/2 mile from long sandy beaches of Lake Superiors with public access, & a short drive to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. This is Michael's childhood home, where he raised his boys in their elementary years, and now vacations with them. So much to offer with this location.

Family friendly with lots of character.

Our host was prompt with any questions. We appreciated how well it worked out well with our families dogs. The place had lots of room for everyone and we enjoyed our stay very much!

Plenty of room

Really liked location between Bayfield and Washburn. Plenty to see and do. House needs a few updates but there is plenty of room. May have been the time of year but everything felt damp. Maybe a couple of dehumidifiers would help. Host was very good and prompt about responding to us. We couldn’t find a coffee maker and he made sure we had one as soon as possible.

Great "Base Camp" for an Apostle Island Adventure

This is a spacious house for you to use for a northern Wisconsin experience. We stayed here with our family of 4 and 2 friends. There was plenty of room for all of us. The kids loved the "game room" in the garage and the location was convenient for all of the Apostle Islands Adventuring you would like to do. While everything was clean, this is a north woods home/cabin. If you are looking for the Ritz Carlton type accommodations this is not for you. If you want a lot of room and show your kids what homes were like in the 70's and 80's this is a good place. On a side note, the Apostle Islands were amazing. We took our 21ft boat with us and got some "decent weather days" to get out to the islands although we could have used a bigger boat. There are a ton of tour boats in the area and a ferry to Madeline Island which is cool too. Definitely worth checking this pat of the country out for a vacation.

Some hiccups but overall nice stay

We ended up having some unseasonably hot weather while we were there with temperatures close to 100 degrees during the day and only down to 80 at night. The AC's were not able to cool every room with those types of temps, so that was our only hiccup. The property manager answered quickly with any questions we had (the internet went out, which was CenturyLinks's fault, not his and he immediately figured out what was going on for us), so that part was great. Lots of room. Being able to bring our dogs was pretty awesome too.

House was uninhabitable

When we arrived, house was 36 degrees and heat wasn’t working. We waited an hour for maintenance and we’re told the LP tank was empty. My husband does HVAC and knew it would take 24 hours for the house to warm up so we had to get our children to a hotel. The owner did not want to issue a refund and was extremely rude to me. Even without having a 4 month old baby and toddlers, it’s unacceptable to expect anyone to stay in a house that is a few degrees above freezing!
