This house is spectacular! We usually like to be out and about, not spending much time "at home" while vacationing. But this house is a special, restorative property. Our kids loved it and so did we. They porch swing, playing board games after dark,.. amazing trip. absolutely stay
My husband and I stayed at this cottage as an early birthday present to each other. The location was perfect and centrally located for all of the activities we wanted to do. The cottage had amazing views with access to a very nice dock and beach area. The host, Jen, was wonderful to talk to and was always very quick to respond to any questions we had. She also made sure we had everything we needed at the cottage which made packing for the trip a breeze.
A gorgeous cabin that looks out over the lake; super-cozy (but also spacious) in winter and guessing it's breezy and beautiful in the summer with huge screen porch; lovely kitchen/dining/eating/lounging space on the first floor; high-performing wood stove; deluxe bath/bedroom suite upstairs. Insanely gorgeous sunrises. Beautiful woods and road walks in every direction. Quiet/private. Comforting/restorative. Modern and rustic. Super-welcoming host. All good!
Cozy, comfortable home overlooking Lake Champlain, just perfect for a quiet weekend. The house was surrounded on three sides with trees and shrubs, providing plenty of privacy. Garden flowers were still in bloom and the comfy swing on the screened porch was a nice feature, as was the wood burning Vermont stove in the living room.
House was just as pictured, and the gardens and views exceeded our expectations. We cooked for ourselves (terrific large propane grill) and enjoyed eating on the screened porch, then enjoyed the fire pit and beautiful night sky- no light pollution here! Be aware that there are no large grocery stores within a half- hour. We took advantage of our planned time on the Vermont side to do the majority of our grocery shopping in Burlington, which worked well. The Charlotte-Essex ferry (1.7 miles from the house) is efficient, ran like clockwork, and was an easy way to explore both sides of the lake. Communication with Jen was very easy and the local point of contact reached out by text to make sure our stay was going well, which was appreciated. The tweens enjoyed the ping pong table! I would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful property overlooking Lake Champlain! Lots of relaxing afternoons on the porch enjoying the views, followed by afternoon naps on the bed-swing, and some fun table tennis matches with the kids. Great kitchen and grill set-up made cooking a breeze. Lots of hiking trails nearby and we rented sea kayaks from another little town nearby to spend the day exploring the lake. Essex was a lovely little town with great access to a ferry to Vermont to wander around Burlington for the day.
If you’re looking for a picturesque, serene sanctuary from the stresses of modern life, without sacrificing modern amenities, this is your listing of choice.. Clean, recently remodeled, and quiet. All things we were looking for on our vacation. The screened in porch with ping pong table and hanging day bed was a favorite, in addition to the “bath house” with comfortable bed and the soothing sounds of nature coming from their beautiful garden. The hosts were kind and attentive. We’ll be back!
Such a beautiful and relaxing setting. Superbly clean, beautiful views, excellent communication with the host. Close to hiking in the Adirondacks & Green Mountains. Definitely recommended!!
My family just returned from a stay in this property and have nothing but good to say about it. The host was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the house is just wonderful: comfortable, private, well-stocked, with incredible outdoor areas and views. We had never been to this part of the country before and the location was perfect for exploring the area's many beautiful hikes and pretty drives. Very very happy we stayed there and enjoyed the experience through and through.
We cannot say enough great things about our wonderful trip & stay at this fabulous "hidden gem" ! The minute you arrive you are drawn into this warm & inviting home. Our April visit included a surprise Nor'Easter and we couldn't have felt more comfortable & relaxed. The only problem with this amazing & magical place is that we don't have more time to visit . We will be back as many chances we get !
The Crater Club house is absolutely wonderful. We spent three days in this cozy winter wooden cabin/house celebrating my partner's 50th birthday. First, I want to say that the communication with Jen was excellent. She always responded to my questions immediately. But even more impressive was how accommodating Jen was when I asked on the morning of our reservation if we could push our arrival date a day later because we had car trouble. She gave us an immediate and empathetic yes! When we arrived after dark the festive outdoor cafe lights were on and the heat was going. It was a warm welcome and we felt at home immediately. She also left us a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge with a birthday card to get the 50th birthday celebration going. How sweet! The house is beautiful and I can only imagine how fun it would be in the spring and summer time. The large porch and swing, swimming, bbq, sailing, etc. But as a winter getaway, it was great. We especially loved the upstairs master bedroom and bath. Extremely comfortable king-size bed. While laying in bed you get a great view of the lake. It was spectacular to wake up on my partner's birthday and watch the sunrise from our pillows. The extra-large bathtub was a major plus and the bubble bath provided was key. Who travels with bubble bath? Also, we took the Essex ferry one day and had a lovely day in Burlington. Very easy trip! It was too cold to hike but maybe next time. We will be back! Thank you Jen!
I would stayed at this cabin again, again and again. We had one of the best New Year's Eve celebration here. This place is cozy, warm, clean and very well equipped. The views are stunning and the hosts were incredible.
My wife and I absolutely loved our stay here. The location is incredible, and the house itself is cozy and modern.
The unobstructed views of Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains--especially at sunrise--from pretty much anywhere in the house are amazing. The property is quiet and cozy, and it has everything we needed. We especially loved the wood stove downstairs and the spacious master bathroom upstairs. The perfect spot to relax into vacation.
There is so much to do in the area as well, whether you want to be outdoors or enjoying the quaint little towns nearby. The ferry in Essex is a great way to venture to Burlington, and breathtaking views of the ADK High Peaks are right around the corner (drive west on Whallons Bay Road).
Even though we went in the winter and a lot of shops/restaurants were closed for most of our stay, there was still more than enough to keep us adventuring. We will definitely be back in the summer as well.
