Welcome to our holiday home "Bei Schmedte"!

In August 2016 we opened our holiday home in Monschau-Kalterherberg in the Eifel. The former farmhouse with barn was completely renovated between March 2015 and July 2016 and extensively converted into a modern and cozy holiday home on two floors with about 110 square meters of living space. It is located about 300 meters from the center in a quiet location. Parking is available directly at the house, bicycles can be safely parked in the barn.
The Hohe Venn (high moorland) and the Eifel National Park are just a few minutes away. Many beautiful hiking and biking trails (RurUfer cycle path, Vennbahnradweg) lead directly past our place.

Our equipment:

The house is centrally heated with a modern pellet stove. Wood pellets must be refilled occasionally.

Fully furnished country kitchen with all the usual electrical appliances (oven, dishwasher, ceramic hob with hood, large fridge ,, microwave, toaster, coffee machines, etc.) and a basic set of spices, Spültabs etc. Big table for seven people.

Cozy living room with reading corner, couch, satellite TV (40 "), Bluray player, radio, electric fireplace.

Three bedrooms (one a walk-through room) with a total of 7 beds on two floors (2 double beds, 3 single beds in the children's room). The bedroom on the ground floor also has a spacious washing area. All beds / bedding (except extra bed) including the mattresses are suitable for allergy sufferers. Maximum occupancy: 4 adults, 3 children (1 additional cot possible).

Two bathrooms incl. WC, some with underfloor heating, bathtub, walk-in shower, changing table

Play area with many games, Lego, Playmobil, wooden blocks and a Wii. Games room with pool billiards, table football and darts. There is also a large selection of board games in the living room. Even if the sun does not shine, there should be no boredom.
Outside there is a garden trampoline, slackline, children's swing, small playhouse, sandpit and vehicles.

On the furnished terrace you can play garden chess and a large charcoal grill is available.

WLAN with a transfer rate of 16 Mbps is included.

In addition, a washing machine, dryer, ironing board, iron and a freezer, as well as a travel cot and 2 children's high chairs are available free of charge. High quality linen and towels are provided.

The village center with supermarket, bakery, butcher, pizzeria, bistro, restaurant, bank, post office and family doctor is about 300 meters away.

When planning your leisure time activities, we will gladly assist you on request together with our partner MTB-Guide-Eifel / Eifel-Outdoor-Aktiv - The leisure specialist in the Eifel.

Our cottage in a quiet location is designed especially for families with children, recreation seekers and active vacationers. For stag and hen parties and similar occasions, the house is not suitable.

Außergewöhnliches Ferienhaus

Optimal für größere Familie oder kleinen Freundeskreis - alles liebevoll renoviert und eingerichtet. Die Gastgeber sehr freundlich und direkt erreichbar, wenn es Fragen gibt...wir haben unseren Wochenendaufenthalt sehr genossen - in der kälteren Jahreszeit tragen die vorhandenen Öfen zu noch mehr Gemütlichkeit bei - ein schöner Ort in der Eifel...

Gastvrij, mooie ligging

Een gastvrij welkom door de eigenaar, en een heel fijn huis met onze kinderen, die veel buiten in de ruime tuin konden spelen en ook binnen in de spelkamer met tafelvoetbal en poolbiljart. Nabij Monschau en een mooie uitvalsbasis voor veel bezienswaardigheden in de omgeving

Comfortable home near Monschau but far from tourists

Jochen's holiday house was a comfortable place to stay away from the throngs of tourists but still be close enough to Monschau for us to visit it as often as we wanted. The food around us was good, the pizza restaurant was excellent and extremely affordable. We've gotten a taste for Bitburger beer, thanks to Jochen's introduction to it and we will be buying it at home from now on too. The house is amazing, a great place to spend a day when it's raining with all the games to play with the family and we really unwound. The neighbourhood was beautiful, neat, clean and very friendly - everyone we met greeted us. Our only gripe is that we can't move there permanently. Other things we did were to go to Aachen's cathedral, the Lindt factory, Monschau and the local waffle shop at the abandoned rail (with the rail bikes) which was a short walk across the border into Belgium. Thank you Jochen for an incredible holiday and your wonderful hospitality.

Super Ferienhaus

Der Aufenthalt war perfekt. Das Haus hat absolut alles, was man für einen kleinen Urlaub mit der Familie braucht. Der Garten ist groß und bietet viele Möglichkeiten zum spielen für die kleinen, außerdem sind Fahrzeuge für Kinder vorhanden und natürlich der Highlight: das riesige Trampolin! Wir haben leider viele regnerische Tage erwischt und da hat unsere kleine über die Spielecke besonders gefreut. Das Haus eignet sich auch sehr gut für Aufenthalte mit Großeltern, da das Wohnzimmer, die Küche, Bäder und ein von dem Schlafzimmern, sich im Erdgeschoss finden. Die zentrale Heizung sorgt für eine sehr angenehme Temperatur im Haus. Die Kommunikation mit der Familie Leyendecker war von sehr freundlich und unkompliziert. Alles in allem, sehr bequem und total familienfreundlich, für große und kleine. Wir empfehlen das Haus auf jeden Fall!

Schönes Wohnen und Leben

Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit. Das Haus bietet sehr viel Platz und Rückzugsorte an. Alles war sehr sauber und in einem äußerst guten Zustand. Zudem ist es überaus Kinderfreundlich. Die Lage ist wirklich top und man ist sehr schnell im Grünen. Wir würden sehr gastfreundlich begrüßt und fühlten uns sehr willkommen.

Well equiped and lovely house

We had an great stay in holiday home Schmedte. The house was spotless clean, very well equiped and cosy. The owners are excellent hosts. The house is great in all seasons, we stayed in winter and there was plenty of entertainment for both adults and children and the house was lovely and warm. We can only recommend. Sehr gute Wohnung für Familie mit Kindern

Die Wohnung bietet ausreichen Platz für 5 Personen und allen Komfort für einen entspannten Aufenthalt. Sie ist sehr gut und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und, da nahezu neuwertig renoviert, in sehr gutem, sehr sauberen Zustand. Es gibt allerlei interessante, abwechslungsreiche Möglichkeiten der Freizeitgestaltung, sowohl draußen im Garten oder der nähern Umgebung, als auch im Haus. Die Auswahl an Sielen. Büchern, DVD und CD, sowie Spielgeräten in Haus und Garten, ist mehr als ausreichend. Auch Fans von elektronischen Spielen (WII) finden eine gute Auswahl. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und haben den einen oder anderen guten Tipp für Aktivitäten in der Umgebung. Wir haben uns rundum wohl und gut aufgehoben gefühlt in der Unterkunft. Wegen der Summe der Annehmlichkeiten ist die Untkunft sehr empfehlenswert, insbesondere für Familien mit Kindern ab ca. 3 Jahre. Eine Bewertung mit 5 von 5 Sternen ist sicherlich angemessen.

Traumhafter Kurzurlaub inkl. Schnee

Die Beschreibung des Hauses trifft zu 100% zu. Es ist einfach ein toll gelegenes, mit viel Liebe renoviertes Haus, welches den Charme der Vergangenheit nicht verloren hat. Der Wohn- Essbereich mit dem modernen Pelletofen, die Küche inkl. der Ausstattung die keine Wünsche offen lässt, bis zum Wohnzimmer mit gemütlicher Couch, Sessel, TV, Spielekonsole und heimeligem Elektrokamin. Zwei Bäder auf dem neusten Stand sowie gemütliche Schlafzimmer mit bequemen Betten. Hier passte einfach alles. Noch zu erwähnen ist das Spielezimmer mit Billiard, Kicker, Dart und riesen 4-gewinnt. So kann man -auch als Erwachsener- auch einen trüben Nachmittag vergessen. Wer lieber Brett- oder Kartenspiele bevorzugt, findet im Wohnzimmer ebenfalls eine reichhaltige Auswahl. Eine tadellose Sauberkeit sowie der freundliche & herzliche Empfang durch den Vermieter Herrn Leyendecker, runden das ganze Wochenende ab.
