About this property

Stone's Throw Bungalow ~ Walk to Plays, Licensed/Legal, Private Entrance, Garden

Just a stone's throw to the plaza, a licensed one-bedroom vacation rental suite is tucked behind one of Ashland's charming craftsman-style bungalows. Your private gated entrance, located behind the house, opens onto a peaceful garden and quaint patio - a wonderful place to enjoy morning coffee and a book, or a glass of wine in the evening. In the summer and fall, help yourself to the ripe tomatoes, fresh herbs and fruit growing in the garden. The owner has lovingly created a sanctuary-like space within the town's premier historic district. Step back in time and enjoy a quiet retreat away from TVs and phones. (FREE, high-speed, reliable, password-protected Wifi is available for your laptop should you wish.)

Your separate, attached one-bedroom retreat awaits and features fine linens, a private bath and a fully-stocked kitchenette including organic tea, coffee, cream and sugar. Step inside: a cool, restful palette adorns a tastefully furnished room that includes period pieces such as an arts-and-crafts style armoire. You'll find a quiet, comfortable bedroom that overlooks an enchanted, fragrant flower garden. This inviting space features wood and tile floors, a ceiling fan, a silent A/C and heating unit, wall and space heaters, and plenty of windows so that you can take advantage of the abundant natural light and fresh mountain air. The bungalow is kept exceptionally clean using homemade, environmentally-friendly cleaners and a HEPA air purifier. Sorry, no smoking or pets.

The on-site owner has been a resident of Ashland for the past 23 years. Your privacy is my utmost priority. If desired, I would be happy to guide you nearby hiking and biking trails, farmer's markets, wineries, hot springs and locally-grown organic food. I am also happy to supply you with anything you need during your stay.

Ashland highlights such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Lithia Park, Cabaret Theater, downtown plaza, restaurants, shops, and movie theaters are all within a lovely 10 - 15 minute walk. You'll stroll through a level, shaded historic neighborhood and cross a bridge over the gentle waters of Ashland Creek on your way there!

To maximize your privacy, cleaning services are not included as part of your stay. Fresh linens will be provided to those guests staying one week or longer. The Stone's Throw Bungalow is an eco-friendly establishment. We encourage walking, biking, carpooling, bus riding, conservation, recycling and other practices that lessen your impact on the earth during your stay.

Three is a Charm
This is our third time at stones throw cottage. We love everything about it, the amenities, the snacks, all the little things that make it perfect. Not to mention the garden, which is tranquil and so private!

Ashland Road Trip
Very nice small apartment, owners were very accommodating. The only negative comment is: if staying more than two days or more, please have more towels in bath.

A lovely home away from home
It felt like we had everything we needed. There was a refreshing simplicity to the set up. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches on food that was provided. The garden was lovely and the tomatoes were delicious. Many thanks and we look forward to a future stay.

Enjoyed our stay
We stayed at the cottage for 2 nights to attend Shakespeare plays and enjoy Ashland. It was a very good experience. It was comfortable, clean and well appointed. the garden was a wonderful place to enjoy morning coffee or a glass of wine later on. The bed was comfortable, the A/C was efficient, and parking was off street. I definitely recommend this place and long and it doesn’t interfere with the dates we want to return ;).

This place is so beautifully decorated and designed. The design of the garden gives you privacy as you sit out enjoying your coffee in the morning or a drink in the evening. The bungalow is fully equipped to meet all your vacation needs. The owner greets you with such warmth and overwhelming hospitality. My husband and I are already planning on when we can return. Loved our stay.

Really enjoyed our stay at Stone's Throw. In immaculate condition, practical kitchen area, shower was hot and bed was great. The garden area really made a difference offering an outdoor relaxing and dining area. Very serene atmosphere. Took about 15-20 minutes to walk downtown. Our host was most accommodating. A perfect stay.

Very Comfortable Stay
The property was appointed with comfortable furnishings and the lighting was very good. We drove to the theatre and found adequate parking early before the performances. We actually enjoyed the dining more than the performances. The description of the property is accurate and it was sparkling clean.

Lovely place and garden
The location was great just a 15 minute walk to dt and the theater. The interior was beautifully designed and outfitted, very comfortable bed, quiet, and small. The best of all was the garden which we used as our living room. Coffee in the morning when it warmed up, reading and chatting. Really gorgeous and well maintained.

Backyard Sanctuary
I stayed for 2 weeks while working in the area and this bungalow was the perfect quiet retreat to come home to. I especially enjoyed the comfy bed, and the cotton bed linens make all the difference. The garden was lovely and I enjoyed having my coffee outside, and I the birds singing. The bungalow feels very private, even with all the curtains open.

Lovely garden
The property is quite nice. There is a modest, but quite adequate kitchen. The bed is very comfortable! There is a large outdoor space right outside of the door, with a separate area enclosed by landscape, for the unit. The area has seating, surrounded by trees and beautiful plantings and herbs. Overall a really nice place to stay!

A little slice of heaven!
This place was amazing! The mini-kitchen had everything you needed to cook some small meals. The shower had great water pressure. The bed was very comfortable. One of my favorites was the beautiful garden area! Plenty of space to sit and relax and enjoy the wonderful sights and smells of the garden. . . so peaceful! I WILL be back!!

Shakespeare Festival
I stayed at Stone's Throw for a week while attending the Shakespeare Festival. The property was perfect for me; it was clean, private, with a well stocked kitchen, and a nice walk to the theaters. Karin was helpful and available for anything I needed. The outdoor area is perfect for morning coffee, and a delight for gardeners. There are many good restaurants nearby (moderate walk or car), and day trips to Crater Lake and/or Oregon Caves. Highly recommended!

Lovely place to stay!
The bungalow is very charming and the English Garden is wonderful. Karin has carefully furnished with everything you will need for your stay. The bed is very, very comfortable. We chose not to walk to the plays since we are in our 70's. Karin suggested using the public parking next to the theater (we used the 2nd level) and we paid $3.00 to park all day. That worked perfectly. Would highly recommend Stone's Throw for your stay in Ashland.

Above and Beyond
We were one mile away from our destination, when we were t-boned by a vehicle… not a great way to start. Even as we were dealing with the aftermath of the accident, Karin and Guy swung into action and helped us find dinner, and get to our play on time. They checked in on us every day, as we alternated between trying to make progress on our insurance claim, and also tried to enjoy Ashland. Their place is a refuge, but so are they, as people. We can’t thank them enough for all of the help and support!

Perfect Sanctuary
My daughter and I stayed here in June 2011 for four nights while attending workshops at OSF. It's a lovely 15-20 minute walk to the theaters - helpful exercise when enjoying the many great restaurants in Ashland! The cottage is beautifully appointed and the garden is a little slice of paradise. Nights were completely quiet and we always felt totally safe, even while walking home after late shows. Karin has that rare and perfect balance of concern and respect for her guests' privacy, and we look forward to returning to her hospitality.

Stone's Throw Bungalow
My husband and I had a wonderful time at STB. It was as nice as advertised and pictured, the property was very clean. The owner provided extra amenities - coffee and cream, water, oranges, a bottle of wine. The garden was just lovely and very comfortable to sit in at evening time (or during the day in cooler weather). We used the gas grill and had a great meal from the Ashland Food Co-Op, which the owner recommended. We walked into town at least a couple of times each day (about 15-20 minutes). The neighborhood was very pretty. The owner was very friendly and helpful.
