About this property

Fisherman's Retreat Cabin #2 ON THE RIVER!!!!!

The Polar Express starts soon. Ask about 1 night stays Sunday thru Thursday. We are on the Tuckasegee River a mile from downtown in the BearHunter Campground. We would be considered a tiny home or park model cabin. Guests have said it is big enough for your family of 4 to not feel cramped. Located in the Great Smoky Mountains, we are close to hiking, rafting, tubing, and kayaking. You'll feel right at home if you enjoy any of these activities, or just want to relax and enjoy the river view. Fishing from the deck is definitely a plus. Our quaint little town has been voted one of the top 10 small towns to visit with local breweries and The Great Smoky Mtn Railroad.
The space
Convenient river access near by makes it your Fisherman' Retreat. A maximum of 4 guests is our policy. NO MORE! We are pet friendly (dogs only) with prior approval. A $50 non refundable fee per pet is due on arrival in cash. Pets must be crated when you are out.
The bedroom has a queen size bed and the other sleeping space is a loft with headroom only. It has a full size bed mattress and is accessible by ladder only. Great for kids or young adults. Towels (1 set per person) and linens are provided free, so you don't have to worry about bringing them with you, unless you don't use a towel more than once. (Sorry) A full galley kitchen is well stocked with all the pots and pans, dishes, glasses and utensils you will need. Bring your paper products, including garbage bags, dish soaps and any other necessities for cooking. There is salt & pepper and some spices but that's it. Coffee filters are provided for the regular full size coffee pot.
Guest access
You have access to the entire Cabin. It is located in the Bear Hunter Campground, although you're not really there for the campground. Sorry no fire pit.
No grill, however you may bring your own.
Other things to note
*The pet fee is for allowing pets to visit. It is to compensate for all the extra cleaning that is takes. It is not a damage fee. If your pet does damage because it has not been crated or watched, you will be requested to pay for the damage.
*Please be honest if you break something. If something is missing or damaged I will turn it in to VRBO and request payment for it.
Please care for our place and things like you care for your own or better. We try hard to provide for our guests and appreciate your understanding.
There is no wifi in the campground at the cabins.

Fantastic Getaway Cabin

I recently stayed at this fantastic cabin and couldn't have asked for a better spot for a guys' getaway. The cabin itself was clean and well-maintained, offering all the comforts we needed. The views of the river were therapeutic and relaxing, providing a perfect backdrop for our relaxation and activities. The location was ideal, with great restaurants a short drive away - perfect for grabbing a bite after a day of fun. Plus, the nearby casino added an extra layer of excitement to our trip, making it easy to mix a little thrill with our downtime. Overall, the cabin was a fantastic choice for our weekend. Highly recommended for any group looking to unwind and enjoy some quality time together!

Excellent rental property

It was a pleasure doing business with the owner . She was very welcoming to us into her rental home. She was available for any questions or concerns regarding our stay . Very considerate to all our needs for our rental home and stayed in contact with us during our stay making sure all our needs were met. We will definitely be returning for all our stays in the mountains. I’m so thankful that I had the pleasure of renting from such a kind and caring person and I can’t wait to return to her rental property. Thank you for such a lovely weekend and I look forward to returning to your rental again.

River property

Property was nicely decorated and had small window unit like A/C in living room and air didn’t circulate well which made bedroom super hot!!! Left air on high to try to cool bedroom but then was freeezing in living room air problem made it uncomfortable to be anywhere.

I have been hosting for over 15 years. We started with with The Cottage which is now a full time rental. It's been a great experience and we have made lifetime friends through our rentals. We now have 6 rentals 3 have now become long term for less work, (we have retired.) The 3 cabins on the river are short term. We love hosting!

Why they chose this property

We chose the Cabins on the river because of the fishing and scenery from the back porch. You can experience the ambiance of the river while sipping a cup of coffee or your favorite cold beverage. The convenience of being able to fish from the porch is an added plus too.

What makes this property unique

The fact that you never even have to leave the porch to fish is great with children.
