Pet Policy:

Here at Open Hearth Inn we welcome your four-legged family member. However, we ask you to help us with the following pet rules while staying with us.

1. Please don't leave your pet in the rooms unattended.

Why? Because they miss you and from our experience of being professional hosts since the 90's, when they are lonely they howl or bark causing others to lose the quiet enjoyment on the property. Lonely pets also use the bed or other furniture to snuggle on while you are away. This is super tough for our housekeepers to remedy because blankets or comforters need to be washed or replaced, also furnishings can take hours to remove hair from so we can present a clean space for the next guest.

Maine is a very pet friendly place and since you brought them on vacation we hope you keep them with you so they can enjoy "Vacation Land" as much as humans do.

2. Please pick up all the poop/excrement they may have.

3. Please have your pup on a leash when enjoying the common areas.

4. Please try to refrain your dog from barking.

We have dog treats, extra poo bags and a water bowl in the common room.

*There will be an additional cleaning fee charged if your pet makes a mess of the room or the bedding. We hope that you and your four-legged family member have a great stay here at Open Hearth Inn.

No other notes. Feel free to ask any questions. :)

Hiking in Acadia

We stayed in apartment 16 and found it roomy and comfortable for the 3 of us. Great proximity to Mt Desert Island and lobster! I was concerned about being close to the airstrip, but it wasn't loud. People staying upstairs were courteous, but you definitely wake up whenever they start walking around upstairs. We enjoyed the hotub, fire pit with cute s'mores kits and snacks. So glad to have laundry available after all that hiking and biking!

Good Place Near Bar Harbor and Acadia

If you want a vacation in Bar Harbor and Acadia but don't want to pay Bar Harbor prices, this place just over the bridge will do the job. The small cabins are typical for Maine. They are small but cozy with full kitchens and a parking spot. There's also a good bakery across the street. It's about a 15 minute drive to Bar Harbor and the visitor center in Acadia.

Adequate comfortable apartment

Good location and adequate. Essentials were there but lacking in detail. No instructions on the heating system so you have to go through trial and error. Same with the tv set. The door lock was not working well so it was a challenge every time we used it. No fan or vent for the stove. Pretty obvious amateur renovation done. Clean and basically comfortable certainly not luxurious.

Best kept secret

Very cute property that was way more convenient to Bar Harbor than I thought it would be. Place was immaculate and spacious, they had free hot tub free laundry and a fire pit. The staff was warm friendly and quite available. We only stayed one night, but left there wishing we had stayed a week or two. Bonus - there is a cute little bakery right across the street where they sell homemade everything with coffee. Score!

What a fantastic property! We had such a great time. Location as as-advertised. The cabin was quite roomy and exceeded our expectations. Very convenient to Acadia National Park. My kids loved the outdoor common area.

Disappointing and very dirty

It was very disappointing. The condition of the apartment is old and unkempt. In the morning we found mouse droppings on the kitchen counter and on the floor. This is not the kind of place that should be rented. It was a bad experience
