Off the Grid

If you’re looking for a vacation to take you out of the rat race and just clear your mind. This cozy cabin is the place to go. It is 30 minutes from the main highway so plan accordingly with food and such, but once you’re there, there is no reason to leave. Great experience and the host was very informative. Looking forward to next time.

What a lovely little cabin. This was exactly as presented online and had extra amenities that weren’t listed. The view out the windows of the cabin was across a meadow with a creek running through it and green tree covered mountains in the background. In three days we saw elk in the meadow 5 times. Excellent common areas and air hockey was a fan favorite too. Highly recommended!

3 Day Stay

This was a quaint little cabin. It is pretty small but had all the amenities, even some bear spray. There are 4 beds for 8 people and one bathroom. Not much of a front or back porch. The master bed was memory foam and felt like a soap dish. Some of the windows do not have coverings. It is at least a 25 minute drive to the highway. Then an hour in either direction for a town. So it is isolated. Overall it was an ok stay.

Amazing birthday/New Years getaway

Amazing experience. This cabin is about as off the grid as you can get, without being completely isolated. If you want secluded and private this is your spot. The interior is modern and well layed out. Comfortable. Clean. Stocked with everything you could need. The host was easy to contact and very thorough with check in and check out procedures. We stayed for 2 night. Dec 30th and 31st. While the temps outside were cold, the snow was beautiful and cabin was warm. The fireplace was all set up and ready to light when we arrived. It's a short 1 hr drive to The Great Sand Dunes National park and Zapata falls. A perfect distance for a 1 day trip. Our kids loved the loft area and the air hockey table. It was an overall amazing experience for our sons birthday and a quiet New Years Eve. Would definitely recommend!! 10/10

Beautiful, immaculate, and contemporary cabin in lovely wilderness.

First of all, Nicole was an absolutely fabulous VRBO host, going out of her way to make sure that everything was perfect (which it was). Thanks, Nicole! The cabin is beautiful… feels brand new, huge ceiling and 360 views of beautiful surrounding mountains and meadows. Our kiddos loved playing air hockey in the loft upstairs, and we loved cooking with the brand new appliances. Fiber internet is lightning fast… easy to work, stream, etc. with zero issues. Forbes Ranch is lovely… it was about 20 minutes from the highway to the property… you are at the foot of the San Luis Valley and Spanish Peaks regions. We would definitely recommend to friends and family, and hope to return again soon. Many thanks, Nicole and Family!!! :)

Gorgeous location; beautiful home!

This modern cabin is tucked deep in Forbes Park past the fire damaged areas and the big meadow. The pristine forest borders the lot with aspen, fir and pine mingling with native grasses and wildflowers in the backyard. The house feels new and spacious with a stone fireplace, a cathedral ceiling that highlights the wooden beams and paneling. The kitchen is bright and convenient. Upstairs there is a loft that overlooks the main room. Three beds and an air hockey table provide plenty of room for all the kids and their friends, while a private bedroom downstairs is perfect for mom and dad. Overall, our stay was perfect. A couple of improvements would be a more clearly marked driveway and a bear-safe trash dumpster. Highly recommend!

Hello and thank you for considering a memorable stay at our treasured Lovato family cabin! We have enjoyed the sights, sounds, adventures, and relaxation that our cabin in beautiful southern CO offers and want to extend this treasure to share with other families and guests to experience.

As 6th generation Colorado natives whose family originates from the San Luis Valley, we are moved by the mystic energy, connection and recharge that the area provides. We are confident that you will as well!

Welcome, we know that you will love it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

This is not a regular old commercial property but a loved and cared for family cabin. Because our cabin is loved, you will appreciate the thoughtful touches and comfort that it provides from comfy linens, an equipped kitchen to prepare delicious meals, a fun loft area for the kiddos to hang out and share laughs, and a wonderful family room for enjoying a fire and actually spending quality time together like the good old days before technology. But, if you must indulge in technology the cabin has a desk and WiFi for logging into Zoom meetings to make your co-workers super jealous and catching up on that Netflix show you haven't been able to make time for.

What makes this property unique

Enjoy the benefits of the off-the-grid feel with all of the wonderful accommodations of home. Use the cabin as a great retreat with great hiking just steps outside the door or leverage the 30 minute drive out of Forbes Park to enjoy an adventure to the beautiful Zapata Falls, surf the Great Sand Dunes, fish tales at a lake, a relaxing trip to the hot springs, to wrestle a gator at the Gator Farm (not really, but you can hold one if you dare), learn the history of the area at the Fort Garland Museum, catch a scenic train ride in Alamosa.....the possibilities are endless!
