Amazing property

Idyllic, peaceful home away from home. Muted and complimentary colours invite the ocean into your home. Impressive attention to detail in the design, the cleanliness and the little extras provided for guests which you may not have thought of-like umbrella, rain poncho and boots-so thoughtful! Communication with Robin was excellent. No lack of outdoor space including a warm sun room for cool nights. Extremely private. Loved the hot tub and outdoor shower! A fabulous week. Best sunrise ever!

Awesome place. We loved the view and the house. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed. Perfect size for the two of us. Very nicely decorated and comfortable. The house does have only one shower and no bathroom in the master bedroom, but the view of the sunrise more than makes up for it! Robin and Pierre were very responsive and helpful - great hosts!

Peaceful Bayside Beachhouse Vacation!

The Bayside Beach house was great! The water view, The hot tub, the location to close hiking and paddling, The charming character of the house, the dart board, and the accommodating Host, were all wonderful! We are so glad we stayed there and had such a great time!

A little slice of heaven

Beautiful and private beach location. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking. The spacious first floor set up allowed for 2 cooks to navigate comfortably. We also appreciated the variety of outdoor sitting areas for shade or sun! Many bird and wildlife sightings topped off a great experience.

Fantastic Getaway

Thanks so much for the use of your beautiful beach house! We had a great stay here. Made wonderful use of your hot tub - what a great addition. Beautiful Spot, met all our needs and more

We had a great stay at this house. It certainly didn't hurt that the weather was close to perfect...cloudless 70 degree days and mild warm evenings. Access to our planned activities was ideal -15 minutes away from Cumberland mountain biking and hiking, and less than an hour from Qualicum and Rathtrevor beaches. And when not on the move, the house was a perfect respite to kick back, paddle board (launch from the beach), and wind down in the hot tub. The place has more than enough spots to congregate as a group, or find some solitude on property.

Everything exceeded our expectations. The house was equipped with everything we needed - great kitchen, big soaker tub, covered hot tub, lots of patio space, comfortable couches and bed. The ocean view was amazing. We loved our stay and will definitely be back soon.

Beautiful beach house and amazing ocean views!

The Bayside Beach House is gorgeously decorated with the comfort of vacationers in mind. Endless beach and ocean views from every window, especially from the sun porch and the expansive decks and even from the fabulous jacuzzi gazebo. Inside, the lovely kitchen is stocked with everything you could need and the bedrooms are comfortable and oh so pretty. We could not stop commenting on how peaceful and happy this home and location made our family! Thank you for creating such a delightful Island getaway.

A peaceful retreat

I highly recommend this property. The house is as beautiful as the listing suggests, and the setting is gorgeous. The house was spacious and clean, and the views are quite extraordinary. Robin and Pierre are very helpful and responsive owners. We look forward to a return trip.

Bayside Bliss

We absolutely loved our stay at Bayside. It is so charmingly and thoughtfully designed, and Robin and Pierre have done an amazing job of creating a relaxed yet elegant getaway. We particularly enjoyed the very well appointed chef’s kitchen, the luxurious linens, and of course the waterfront hot tub. We even managed a cold swim off the beach (in November)! We are already recommending it to all our friends.

Excellent!

Robin and Pierre have spared no details. This was one of the best vacation rentals we have visited and we can’t wait to go back and enjoy the lovely living spaces, amazing decks, beach, and hot tub — not to mention the great amenities in nearby Comox and Courtenay. Five stars!

Charming and relaxing

This place exceeded our expectations. We arrived to a charming and relaxing atmosphere. The wood stove was already going and the place was pleasantly toasty. The large windows drew your gaze to the ocean. We loved watching the sealife. The place was very well stocked. We cooked and baked and had all the dishes and utensils we needed. The decor was beautiful and there were so many details that we were still finding interesting little things on the last day of our 3 night stay. The owner Robin was great. She struck that great balance of being there if we needed anything but was unobtrusive. We look forward to coming again one day.

Relaxing stay in a beautiful place

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at the Bayside Beach House. Fabulous location, awesome views and unique character home with all the amenities. Hot tub was so relaxing and we enjoyed building fires indoors and out. Great hosts - bottle of wine and birthday banner were thoughtful extras. Would highly recommend :)

Great Getaway

My wife and I were looking for a relaxing place to get away and the beachhouse is a great place to do that. The house is beautifully laid out with lots of room and we made great use of the hot tub.

Like a beach house from a movie

I don't mean to gush, but this house could not have been more perfect. It truly was the epitome of a charming beach house—so cozy and charming, so many different spots for lounging on the porch—and Robin and Pierre thought of every detail. It was like they read our mind at every turn. It's the little things that really make a place feel comfortable: SO many towels, a basket full of water shoes, super comfortable beds, fresh herbs growing in the garden. We went in the ocean every day (the tide just comes right up to the dock, practically) and Cumberland and Denman Island made for great day trips just a quick car ride away. Really was such a dreamy getaway for four friends looking for some quality time and we really appreciated having such an amazing spot. We'll be back for sure!

Perfect getaway

We rented Robin and Pierre's Beach house as a quiet family getaway and we couldn't have been happier with our choice! Communication with the hosts was fantastic, and the view was out of this world. You can tell a lot of love went into updating this house. It had a wonderful rustic secluded feel, while also having all the modern creature comforts you could need. The large windows, French doors, and glass sunroom take full advantage of the gorgeous ocean view. Waking up to the sun rising over the water, and ending the night listening to the crash of the waves from the hot tub or patio chairs was a dream. Would definitly stay here again and highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

About the host

Hosted by Robin & Pierre

We first fell in love with our beach house on Baynes Sound in 2006 and, over the course of two years, transformed it into the elegant oceanfront vacation home of our dreams.

We met in Montreal in 2003. Robin was from West Vancouver, a Marketing Director for Clinique with a background in art and interior design. She designed home interiors and restaurants on the mainland. Pierre, originally trained as a professional carpenter, was a fixture in Montreal’s film industry for his expertise in special effects. We were married in Vancouver in 2004 and moved to Union Bay shortly after.

Robin had travelled extensively during her 20 years with Clinique, and the time she spent staying in top hotels has informed her design expertise. Pierre’s skill and eye for detail was honed over many years of building things that needed to be just so. Together, we have a penchant for creating spaces that are both beautiful and functional.

Most of the materials used in the beach house’s renovation were refurbished and reused, such as the gorgeous floor boards, salvaged from the walls of an old home on the Island and refinished to a honeyed gleam by Pierre. Patio bricks are recycled from a house in Courtenay torn down by Habitat for Humanity. The result is not only environmentally conscious, but gives the beach house an elegant old world charm, while offering all the modern conveniences.

Why they chose this property

We chose the charming hamlet of historic Union Bay for our Bayside Beach House because it is so convenient to urban amenities in nearby Courtenay/Comox, and we were drawn to the artisan community in the Comox Valley, which was designated one of seven Cultural Capitals of Canada in 2007.

What makes this property unique

We pride ourselves on having thought of everything a vacationer could possibly want, from the most comfortable linens, beds and couches, Netflix and full sound system, to a fully equipped kitchen and large harvest dining table. These are the things we enjoy when we stay at our property, just the two of us or with friends and family.

We also love outdoor space you can use to the fullest no matter what the weather’s like, which is why we put in the expansive brick patio with its barbeque, built a cabana complete with hot tub, outdoor shower, and chandelier, and created two beach bonfire pits and put a brick barbeque down on the beach as well. There’s also a little herb garden for cooks to use. No wonder our Guests find the Bayside Beach House as irresistible as we do.
