Perfect for a family visit to the Carmel area, ideally 2 adults and 2 or 3 kids. This beautifully restored barn has a view of the Pacific, with Pebble Beach beyond. Think of a hotel suite, Central Coast style. It has a private sleeping area for adults and plenty of space for the kids. It includes a cooking/bar/dining space, three TVs for entertainment, outdoor private beer garden with fire pit, a full bathroom and on-property parking. Pt. Lobos State Reserve and Monastery Beach are both a short walk away! It is a fantastic place!

A slice of heaven
Our only complaint- we wished we had stayed longer! A seriously stunningly renovated barn in a beautiful location! Rich and Daryl, the hosts, are just wonderful and the barn is perfectly appointed! We just loved it! Cannot recommend more highly!

Beautiful barn in a great location
The barn is beautiful and well equipped. Kids loved the foosball table especially. Rich was a welcoming host and provided us with valuable advice and suggestions. The location near the nature reserve was great. Highly recommend.

Perfect Getaway with Amazing Hosts and Fun Amenities!
Our stay was absolutely perfect! The property was amazing, both inside and out. Rich and his wife were incredibly kind and welcoming hosts, making us feel right at home. The location was unbeatable—convenient and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Our family especially loved the open floor plan, the pool table, foosball table, and the outdoor grill. We would love to go back again!

The property is a large, comfortable, nicely decorated informal single space in a pastoral setting. Interior featured a kitchen area with counter, all the necessary appliances, dining table, lounging area and large flat screen TV (total of 3), separate bathroom with shower, electric piano, pool table and foosball table, and has large windows/sliding glass doors facing HWY 1 and ocean in distance. Location is great with easy access to all areas without feeling the closeness of city living. Minutes to grocery store, Carmel Mission, and restaurants, beach, and scenery of Point Lobos and Carmel Highlands. Adjacent cows and geese were great company.Rich was a superb host, and took an interest in us enjoying our stay. We had a great time and look forward to staying again.

Book for the cows... stay for the hosts
The most unique property we've stayed at and one that we'd love to re-visit! Morning walks to Point Lobos and Monastery Beach were our highlights. We were beyond fortunate to enjoy 3 perfect weather days in Carmel and cars begin to line up across the street on PCH to walk into Point Lobos. It felt like such a privilege to be able to leave our car and walk there from the Barn. Playing pool and foosball with our daughters was great entertainment. We all needed R&R and all slept so well in the very comfortable beds. The heated floor in bathroom was a very nice touch. We like picking up local coffee and there were multiple options a short drive away. Most importantly, Rich and Daryl are like your new favorite uncle and aunt--there for you if needed. They have their own active lives going on, so you might see each other in passing. We are very grateful they've chosen to share their slice of Heaven in Carmel.

Fantastic Carmel Stay
What a great place and location! The remodeled barn was spacious, comfortable, stylish and unique! Perfect for our family of five. My husband and I did beautiful morning walks while the teens slept in. One day we explored Point Lobos and saw breathtaking views of bird island and the next day we walked through the nearby beach and found an ocean trail to Carmel River Beach. It's just a few minutes drive to downtown Carmel as well. The hosts were wonderful and even brought us some hay to feed the adorable cows before we left. Highly recommend!

Excellent property and superb location.
The home is much bigger than the pictures, and it has something for everyone, a piano and guitars for the musicians, foosball and a pool table and games for the kiddos. My kids loved playing foosball and playing with the dominos. You can tell Rich put a lot of thought and consideration in the house, from the heated bathroom floors, the firepit for roasting marshmallows, the high-end appliances in the kitchen, and the really nice bedding. My kids liked even the decor, trinkets and various artwork throughout the home. We were just a family of four but this place could comfortably accomodate 6 people. The location is awesome, you can walk to Pt. lobos state reserve. Its only a short drive,15 min to Monterey Aquarium. The kids loved feeding the cows too. I was able to cook nice meals for my kids each day and grill too which is a huge plus. Overall, the place greatly exceeded my expectations. So happy we booked this place.

A Dream Property
This was an amazing and unique property. Really great space for the entire family. It does not offer privacy for parents but neither does a hotel room. Beautiful view, fun family time.

Lovely barn in a great location
We enjoyed our stay. The barn was more spacious than the photos show. Very clean, with all you would need for your stay. A great location, close to the beach and beautiful hikes.

Beautiful spot for a family getaway
We couldn’t have been more comfortable or relaxed, and enjoyed the beautiful property and views. The space was fun for my 10 year old son and in walking distance to great beach views and hikes, and a short drive to Carmel’s village. Wonderful hosts and an excellent property!

Staying at the barn is such a unique experience. We were able to enjoy S’mores overlooking the ocean, feed and pet miniature highland cows and enjoy everything Carmel and Monterey have to offer. Plus, playing pool kept and foosball kept the kids entertained during any downtime. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Unique property, amazing location
We stayed for a full week at this super fun & unique property. Our family of 5 fit perfectly and had an amazing time! The barn itself feels very modern, with a fully-stocked kitchenette, large TV’s, and plenty of comfy seating. The kids played foosball & pool non-stop, ran outside to pet the cows, sat around the fire pit to listen to waves crashing while making s’mores, streamed their favorite show easily on the main TV to watch together… this house facilitates so much family bonding time. It’s also right across from Point Lobos, a short drive into downtown Carmel, and grocery shopping is less than 5 minutes down the road. A wonderful place to stay in a beautiful location - definitely a gem!

Barn in Carmel
Highly recommend this property. Great family and place is new and built with love. The barn is amazing and great place for family with lots of space, fun things to do, great outdoor seating with water views. The kids had a lot of fun and it was only a few minutes drive to downtown Carmel for the adults. Highly highly recommend and will be returning soon.

Wonderful stay!
My family had a lovely couple of days at this spacious, impeccably clean restored barn! The location was perfect...just a short walk to Point Lobos and a short drive to Carmel/shops, 17 mi drive, Mission, Aquarium, etc. I'm not sure what the kids loved more - feeding the two resident Scottish Highland cows or competing in cutthroat rounds of foosball. Rich, the host, was super friendly and helpful with restaurant and other points of interest recommendations. When we realized the Nespresso machine wasn't working, he had it descaled and up and running in no time (while also leaving us a box of sea salt caramels for the inconvenience). All in all, we'd stay here again in a heart beat.

Great property. Specially location which is right in the art of nature. Beautiful natural reserve park right across the street and really nice beach within 10 mins walk. My 6 year old son had so much fun just running around the house in the huge farm style yard. We git a nice weather and the sky was magnificent at nights. Rich, the owner is very nice and always available to help. We appreciate his friendly welcoming at the start.

Location location location and so much more!
Everything about our stay was lovely. Hosts are friendly and accommodating. Location perfect within walking distance to Point Lobos and beach. Driving distance to shops and restaurants and beautiful Big Sur. The barn building is comfortable ( love the heated bathroom floors) fire pit and electric fireplace added to cozy feeling. The views of the coastline and Pebble Beach was lovely. The cows are adorable!!

Perfect location! Very comfortable space.
This was our 29th anniversary and my husband and I had a glorious four days around Carmel, Big Sur and Point Lobos. You can literally walk across the street into the point Lobos park. We highly recommend the flying Fish Café in Carmel, one of our best meals ever. Rich, the host was very interesting and pleasant. Overall, it was just a wonderful trip.

Carmel Stay Extraordinaire!!!!
We were looking for an ocean view property for our special 50th Anniversary stay in Carmel......Well, we found it at The Brown Barn!!!! This is a family fun rental, and also a great stay for a romantic couple. The views are spectacular, ocean to forest, and easy walk to Pt. Lobos and Monastery Beach. We took full advantage of the spacious outdoor seating using the firering each evening. The entire property is immaculate and extremely private for a casual stay. Taylor & Bella, the Hyland cows, are adorable and loved getting a hand full of alfalfa feed. Rich, the Host, gave us a warm welcome tour and has wonderful recommendations for any kind of activities in the area. We instantly felt at home. We highly recommend The Brown Barn for a short or long stay. This is one of the most beautiful and unique, properties we have discovered!!!

Ein wunderschönes Haus!!!
Die Scheune ist ein wunderschönes Haus, liebevoll hergerichtet und sehr schön dekoriert. Es ist sehr viel Platz. Unsere Söhne hatten viel Spass beim Tischfussball und haben Billiard gelernt. Die Feuerstelle draussen war sehr gemütlich, da es abends immer etwas kühler wurde. Man erreicht viele schöne Plätze um Carmel herum sehr gut. Zum Point Lobos kann man sogar laufen, der Parkeingang ist nur wenige Meter von der Scheune entfernt. Rich ist sehr nett und hat uns viele gute Tipps für Ausflüge gegeben. Vielen lieben Dank nochmal, wenn wir wieder in Carmel sind, buchen wir auf jeden Fall die Scheune!!!
