About this property

10 mins from Shenandoah National Park ~ Cozy Cabin

Welcome to the South River Falls Cabin. Cozy up for a romantic getaway featuring a hot tub (operated year-round), gas fireplace, & three-headed shower; or bring the family to bond under the stars. We are secluded enough to see the Milky Way, but still close to town. Only 10 minutes from Shenandoah National Park’s Swift Run Gap Entrance, you can be hiking in no time. Enjoy all the valley has to offer from this central location; drive to Luray Caverns, Shenandoah River, Massanutten Ski Resort, etc

Located in view of Skyline Drive, this little cabin is full of comforts inside: gas fireplace; gorgeous, oversized tile shower with a rain head, as well as two heads on each end so you don't have to share; well-equipped kitchen with deep sink and quartz countertops; in-unit laundry; queen sized memory foam bed; and blankets galore.

Once you get outside, chill out in the hot tub, show off your skills on the grill, or read a book on our private deck. On clear nights, you can see the Milky Way.

The sofa bed allows for double-date trips to the Shenandoah Valley, or you can bring the whole family along.

We have the highest speed package available from Viasat. Download speeds are comparable to what you have at home, but upload speeds will seem a bit slower. During inclement weather, we may lose some performance. That is why we supply so many offline entertainment options - just in case!

The space is small, so we offer a laptop stand in lieu of a large desk. You could use that indoors or outdoors. There is a table you can set up as well; it is located in the kitchen's eat-in area but can easily be used anywhere in the home.

For dining, you can cook in our kitchen, out on our grill, or check out the local eateries as close as 6 miles away. We benefit from being in a secluded location that is a quick drive away from conveniences like restaurants, grocery stores, etc. Our kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, dinnerware, and basic oil and spices. Our grill is a propane grill.

Outdoors, we have a lounger, hot tub, gas fire pit, outdoor dining table, and dining chairs. There is a hummingbird feeder back there that stays busy with activity; it is one of my favorite things about hanging out on the deck.

We love animals and welcome pets. Our pet fee is charged through the platform when booking when you add pet guests to your reservation. If you need to add a pet to your reservation, please submit an alteration request or reach out, and we can send you an alteration request.

*Update* as of January 10th, 2022: We finally received our full-sized fridge! It is not currently shown in the listing photos.

You very much have your own space to enjoy, but you may see our handyman between 11am-early evening at our barn stocking items like propane, wood, etc.

We have two parking spaces dedicated to the cabin. The beginning of the driveway is shared with our neighbors.
For GPS, use Goo gle Maps. Do not use Apple Maps.

Our 14.5 acres come with some chores. I will be on-site frequently, but may not always be around. Feel free to text or call. There is limited service at the location so messaging through the app is the best way to get ahold of me. Cell reception picks back up as you leave Hensley Hollow.

We ask that you are respectful of the rural nature of this property and be courteous to our neighbors while you are our guests.
You can use the outdoor amenities any time of night, but please be mindful of volume as the sun is rising and after dark to help preserve the serenity of the woods for our neighbors and your fellow guests.

Our home is located on a private, gravel road. We are in the mountains so our road/driveway is not flat, but you do not need 4x4 vehicle outside of winter months. We do encourage 4WD or AWD during the winter. There is signage indicating which way you should go on the loop to reach us; go straight following signs for the Hensley Hollow Lodge. Once you get up the driveway, do not turn right toward the lodge, but instead drive straight until your reach your designated parking area.

We are in the woods. We share those woods with critters of all kinds. Chiefly, stink bugs are rampant in the entire Shenandoah Valley right now. If you are not from the area, they are brown and flat in appearance. A professional service treats our home monthly, but we cannot prevent bugs from entering the cabin during your stay. It is a product of being in nature. We cannot spray the entirety of the forest, and we wouldn't want to - our local pollinators are important! Thank you for your understanding.
Our home is located on a private road. It is pertinent that you follow the photo directions to arrive to our location. Do not use Apple Maps or Waze as they will take you the wrong way.

Please do not wander off of our property while staying with us. Our neighbors have a right to privacy. If we receive a valid complaint from our neighbors for road damage or trespassing, you will be charged a $100 fine per violation.

We require that guests have their ID verified with Airbnb before they arrive.

We have a $40 per hour unapproved late checkout fee.

Enjoy yourselves! Our amenities are for you to sit outside and relax 24/7, but please do so quietly. Our quiet hours are between 10pm-10am to help preserve the serenity of the woods for our neighbors and your fellow guests.

Please shower before using the hot tub. No pets, spilled alcohol, excessive lotion/sunscreen, bubble bath, or foreign objects in the hot tub. Close the cover when not in use. Any hot tub non-compliance that requires a drain and fill after your departure will result in a maintenance fee of $75.00.

Outside of quiet hours, please refrain from yelling or playing loud music outdoors.

Please keep doors and unscreened windows closed as much as possible. We are located in the woods, so bugs will make their way inside if given the chance.

Our high speed internet has a data cap every month. If it is exceeded, we pay a premium for 10GB at a time. Please refrain from large downloads/uploads such as software updates.

Please do not connect security cameras to our wifi without informing us first. If it does not passively consume data we may need to charge for data usage.

Pets:

We love animals, and welcome pets on a case-by-case basis. Our pet fee is charged through the platform at the time of booking when you add pet guests to your reservation. If you need to add a pet to your reservation, please submit an alteration request or reach out and we can send you an alteration request :)

Please keep your pups on a leash outside for their safety.

Please clean up any pet waste in the yard.

Relaxing stay near Shenandoah

My family and I enjoyed staying at this cozy cabin near Shenandoah. It’s near a lot of the best trails the park has to offer and is also conveniently located near town. The house itself was incredibly clean and exactly as described. We would stay here again if we find ourselves back in the area and I wish more places like this existed.

Perfect for the 2 of us

Cozy cabin. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals in. Hot tub was a nice way to unwind after hiking. If only the weather was a bit warmer, we would have enjoyed the back deck more, but the inside was warm, especially with the gas fireplace on. Would recommend.

Fabulous spot

Beautiful, secluded location. Perfect for staying in, lounging, cooking, reading, and relaxing! We took a few day trips to Monticello, Richmond, Montpelier, and Luray Caverns but also got a day to hang in the hot tub, take walks, and visit the local brewery. Would definitely return.

Cute hideaway in the mountains

This remote cottage in the mountains has been extremely well renovated by the owner. Bed is firm and extremely comfortable, kitchen has all the amenities and that shower, wow! Loved the hot tub after a long hike in the Shenandoah Valley. The entrance to the Skyline drive is only 15 min away. Would definitely rent again if in the area. The owner is extremely attentive to renter’s needs. Thanks Lindsey.

Great mountain getaway

We so enjoyed our time at this cabin! It was very clean, even nicer in person than in pictures. Loved stargazing from the hot tub and watching deer along the driveway on the way to/from the cabin. It is pretty remote, which we loved. The host was great about checking in on us. Made for the perfect place to relax after busy days hiking in Shenandoah National Park and exploring Luray Caverns!

Cottage in Rockingham County

There were some supplies missing that may be related to the owner learning what is needed? No bowl for popcorn, no matches/lighter, no AAA batteries, gas fireplace did not work with full propane tank, and no peanut brittle! But the owner was very responsive to requests and that made a big difference. There was a trashy building and vehicles right next door and a tent nearby. Not as private as we had hoped. Drive to cottage a bit rough.
