Newberry Springs Retreat “The Haven” NOW ! new! Ping Pong Table in the attached garage!
This is a one-of-a-kind desert home located on five private acres, with great views and plenty of outdoor space. Part of the house newly upgraded with vinyl flooring and a fresh paint! Halfway to Las Vegas, 20 miles east of Barstow.

The perfect desert retreat to explore or relax. Experience the serene landscape, breathtaking views, magical sunsets and eye opening starry nights.

The 3 bedroom, 2 bath home is surrounded by fencing. . This is the perfect place for hosting a getaway weekend for a group of friends, couples or family. There are neighbors out there, but they are far enough away to provide much privacy. There is a guest house on the property, but it is not available for use.

You will find 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, 1 with a full size bed. One bathroom in the master, and one bathroom in the hall for guests. There is also a game room that has a fold out couch. The home has a fully equipped kitchen and dining room, and a bar-b-q outside..

While we do accept pets, UPON APPROVAL, we also have a Pet Policy and a refundable cleaning deposit. And we would also like to know what kind of pet you have and how large they are, long/short hair, temperament for our review.

The home has forced heat and air conditioning, or evaporative cooler, to make you comfortable anytime of the year. There is even a wood stove for the cozy winter nights.

The large front porch area is wonderful to sit while you relax with your morning cup of coffee. When you step outside at night, you will be able to see the moon and sparkling stars in the clear, dark sky while enjoying the outdoor firepit (smores are a popular choice!). On the five acres you can enjoy enclosed ATV rides, hitting golf balls across the dry lake or simply relaxing at your own pace.

This home is located two miles off the popular Route 66 Historic drive. Several OHV areas nearby. Lots of Desert exploring: Calico Ghost Town, Afton Canyon, Lava Beds and much more. We have books to help exploring

At our home, you can expect:

No Wifi (sorry, part of the remote location, more peaceful!) but it available across the street at the Drifting Sands Cafe or if you have a 'hot spot' or other connections.
TV with antenna (approximately 7 channels)
2 Queen Size Beds, 1 Full/Double Bed
2 Bathrooms - one with a bathtub.
2 Blow Dryers
Fully equipped Kitchen, includes Spices, Full Size Refrigerator, toaster, Microwave, Air Fryer/
Coffee Machine (regular drip/Keurig)

Our guests are welcome to all aspects of the home, except for the garages and shed in the yard area.
No smoking inside the Home.
Parking, basically unlimited exterior parking on the five acres. Cars or RVs easy in and out , NO hook-ups or Dump for RVs on site.

The evap. cooler is efficient AND the best cooling in hot-dry weather... If the AC unit is on- it must be at 78 degrees or higher, or pay additional.

Electric rates are highest from 4 to 9p.m. Please conserve, especially in the summer.

Be careful of uneven concrete outside and landscaping, trip hazards. Remember Cacti are part of our desert..

Long-Short Term Stay

My family and I stayed here on a work trip for a month. The house was in great shape and everything worked well and was so much more spacious than what I expected. We had access to the entire house (no creepy locked room or closet lol), garage and 5 acres of fully fenced yard. The yard was so amazing for our pup, and Gingers landscaper does a phenomenal job at keeping up with the goatheads. I only saw one on our entire stay!Our daughter is a year and a half and the bonus room off the dining was a perfect area to call the playroom. Tons of daylight and easy to baby proof! Ginger was such a kind and thoughtful host. She was so responsive and always offered to grab us anything we might need from town. She did meet us at the house to let us in and show us around. I saw the review that had complained about that but honestly, I thought it was really nice. She showed us where everything was and made sure we weren’t missing anything.I have to admit, I was so not excited for this trip. Middle of the desert. Nothing to do. Oh how wrong I was! We had so much fun exploring the surrounding areas. The house is so close to tons of hiking trails as well as OHV roads and the sunrise and sunsets are incredible! And I can’t even with the stars! Ginger, we truly cannot thank you enough. You were an amazing host and I hope we have the chance to come back again someday.

Closest to Mojave

Chose this lovely house as it was the closest to Mojave that I could find, with three bedrooms. Comfortable and everything we needed. However the showers and sofa needed cleaning. And just an fyi there’s no self check-in like most places.

Mojave Adventure Launch Point

Property was as advertised. Comfortable, clean, and a perfect place to start a Mojave Desert adventure. Lots of space, we could have brought along a large group of friends and all been comfortable. The evening views and sunset was incredible!

Home Sweet Home

Ginger is a terrific communicator and ready to address any issue immediately, several times before we even realized they were issues. It is clear she takes great pride in this home. Plenty of linens, towels, dishes, pots, pans, crock pots, utensils, everything! The Haven truly feels like home.

Great Desert Property

Large well maintained property with access from a well maintained paved road. Lots of parking and turn around if you are towing a trailer. A few minutes drive will get you to Calico, Afton Canyon, Mojave Trail, Barstow and lots of other great places. There is a great fire pit for campfires and a wood stove for chilly nights. Great Kitchen and laundry facility. Great for stargazing as the evening sky is free of pollution. We love staying here.

I lived various places, coast-to-coast, growing up as a Military-Brat, but landed in this desert as a permanent home in the early 80s. There's so much to explore and enjoy, I get out as much as I can! I love the lack of traffic jams, the serenity, and being in a simpler place.
