About this property

This A-frame is surrounded by mountain ranges that you can enjoy from the many windows

This A-frame is surrounded by mountain ranges that you can enjoy from the many windows. You are close enough to Fairbanks to enjoy what it has to offer but far enough away to get privacy and tranquility. The A-frame is right at the doorstep to Ski-LandResort. In the winter enjoy an amazing northern lights display from your bed, or warm up in the sauna/shower or the private hot tub after a day of skiing. Cleary summit is renowned for some of the best northern light shows in Alaska.

All our properties are self check in. We are Fairbanks locals and are just a phone call away if any questions or concerns arise.

The A-frame is located on top of a mountain about 30 mins from Fairbanks. The small community of Fox is about 15 mins drive and has a couple great restaurants. We are a 1 min walk (across the street) from the Skiland chair lift and cafe. On a clear day you have 360 degree view.

Guests have a private driveway with parking. Guests have sole access to the A-fame during their stay. Skiland is a 1-minute walk away from the house.

The A-frame is 500 sq ft of a uniquely Alaskan experience. There is a large kitchen with a beautiful bathroom with a sauna that has a rainfall shower head in it. The living room has a full-sized futon, a twin bed in the ottoman, and a beautiful window-filled upstairs with a comfortable queen bed. There is a skylight over the queen bed and a deck right off the bedroom on the north side of the house that you can enjoy the Northern lights dancing in the sky. There is a private hot tub right outside where you can enjoy the view and the northern Lights.

You will need to have a 4 wheel or all wheel drive vehicle to visit the A-Frame in the winter. We get lots of snow and it can be icy on the roads.

Guests have a private driveway with parking. Guests have sole access to the A-fame during their stay. Skiland is a 1-minute walk away from the house. The stairs going upstairs to the queen bed are very steep, like a ladder, and will not be accessible to everyone. Guests will need to rent a 4 wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle to drive up the mountain.

If there are cones blocking the road go ahead and move them so your vehical can get through them put them back.
Guest are allowed to use the Skiland trails on the mountain for hiking during summer and fall  between 8am and 8pm.

Northern Lights Anniversary

We went to the place for our 20th anniversary. The views and the northwest lights were amazing. The A-frame was very well kept and supplies were excellent. I would highly recommend for a mountain getaway.

The perfect Aurora cabin

Absolutely stunning!! This little cabin on the mountain was perfect for my winter escape into Alaska. I traveled solo as a female and felt perfectly safe in the middle of what feels like no where. The cabin was incredibly cozy, the perfect temperature and fully equipped with everything I needed. The lofted space is gorgeous and exactly what you picture for an Alaskan cabin. I was so comfortable and in total peace. At night, you could see Aurora from bed, but do yourself a favor and go outside. They views were phenomenal all around. I was not expecting to see so many various views and sights based on the other photos but it was breathtaking. To my total surprise, the steam shower was also a dry sauna. But can be used simultaneously based on your preferences. I was in total heaven. I cooked daily and the kitchen was stocked with all of the cookware I needed. Various traveller's have left basic spices and condiments as well which was lovely. The roads to get onto the mountain were well maintained in typical snowy fashion, I had a AWD rented Subaru and had zero issues. They even have the electrical hookups for your block heater! Everything about this stay was lovely, a few locals I spoke with even commented on how amazing the property is and how lucky I was to be staying there. I would absolutely stay here again should I ever find myself in Fairbanks Alaska.

BEST VIEW OF THE NORTHERN LIGHTS

AMAZING STAY. Much better to stay a little away from Fairbanks to see the northern lights. Literally watch the lights dance over our heads from the hot tub. Don't think, BOOK.

Incredible views

This place was perfect. My wife and I enjoy being close enough to town to explore, but out enough to enjoy nature. We saw the northern lights 2 of 3 nights and the master bedroom upstairs is obviously built to ensure the best views. We loved the layout, just be aware that the stairs to the master are like climbing into an attic - a really cool attic though. The sauna is a nice touch after being outside in the cold. Clean, good communication and excellent location. Would highly recommend.

We stayed for a week and was blessed to see the Auroras one night but it was spectacular. When we got tired of being in the cold we were able to watch from bed 😍 The property itself is a cozy cabin with high ceilings that make the cabin feel bigger. The sauna and hot tub really add to the experience, there were a couple snowy days where we didn't want to leave and drive so we stayed in and enjoyed watching the snow (we live in Southern California).

Aurora Viewings

Our family of 4 had a great time staying at the Mountain Top A-frame, directly across from Ski Land. We were blessed with a Northern lights show 7 out of the 8 nights we stayed. The house was perfect with small kids. The hot tub and sauna were great for Aurora sightings and the location of the house was top notch for this reason. Highly recommend!

Glad we explored more than we stayed

While this cabin is very nice, it leaves much to be desired. I am happy I stayed here for the views, the cabin itself is uncomfortable in almost every aspect. The lower living area is so smashed together its not really possible for two people to sit comfortably or even enjoy without hitting your head. The upstairs area is nice but getting both up and down is a complete inconvenience. The rickity ladder is noisy and God forbid you have to use it while anyone is sleeping because it is impossible to sleep through. The downstairs heater quit working one night and the temps got down to 42 degrees inside before it started working again. The hot tub is pretty much unusable as there is no way to get in or out safely and you have to trek through the snow to manage the cover and trying to get in is just a climb... there are no steps to get in. The dishes all looked dirty and had to be rewashed as dog hair appeared to be throughout the kitchen. The shower is pretty much terrible as the drain doesn't line up properly so you end up standing in cold water for most of the time that never drains. This poorly effects the sauna too so we never really got to use that the way we wanted. The electric front lock broke our second to last day there so we couldn't even lock our belongings when we left. The best thing about this cabin is the bed which was soft and comfortable. Outside of that the only good takeaway is the view. I expected much more for the price.

Best Friends bucket list trip

This was the perfect place to stay for our trip. It is tucked at the top of a small ski resort. We went in mid April, and there was over 1-2 feet of snow on the ground towards the top. You definitely won’t get up here in the winter without an SUV. The place was very clean, the check in process was easy, the hot tub was a huge bonus and makes this place worth it even more. I don’t think it could comfortably fit more than 2 people, it’s pretty small but perfect size for 2. The sauna in the bathroom was also a cool addition. The views from the balcony were beautiful. It was all around a great stay!

Figuring out when I can come back

This was probably one of the most amazing trips I've ever had in my entire life. The views were amazing, the cabin was fully stocke, and we saw the northern lights from the hot tub all 4 nights. We couldn't have asked for a better trip.

Best vacation ever

This place was absolutely perfect for my husband and I for our week long winter getaway. Cozy and comfortable, though a bit on the warm side as there is a very powerful heater so make sure to pack a few tshirts for hanging around indoors. The stairs going up to the bedroom weren't as challenging as I thought they'd be. Very clean and well appointed, kitchen had all the essentials and then some. Comfortable bed and there's even a TV mounted on the ceiling above the bed. Great aurora viewing from all angles of the house, we watched from bed one night which was a plus when it was really cold. Also conveniently located to town (only 30 min), and across from Ski Land which is open a few days a week. We went over for lunch one day and another for a beer around the fire on the back deck. Amazing views all around, can't beat those morning sunsets over the mountains. Highly recommend staying here. If we ever venture back to Alaska, we would not hesitate to stay here again. One thing to note: we pre-reserved a 4WD vehicle through Alamo to pick up at the airport on arrival. When we arrived, they asked where we were staying as they have certain highway restrictions. They refused to rent to us when I told them where we were staying, and told us all the other car rental companies at the airport use the same guidelines. I called Devin who was very responsive and kind who said this has never been a problem. We ended up renting a Jeep through Alaska 4x4 which was great but expensive.

All good things. This really wrapped up our trip in the best way. Just the essentials here. Really ideal for us (2 adults). Can’t imagine it would have been nicer with more people. I love this place. The host was also super easy to get in contact with and everything went smoothly.

Panoramic Views are amazing

Our favorite place to stay while in Alaska. Loved the views and windows. We saw the Aurora the second night there and I believe we say Denali as well! Up on a ski mountain and views are absolutely stunning.

Perfect Get Away

This little cabin had everything we needed. The hot tub was the best for viewing the Northern Lights. The Skiland resort right across the street is only open on the weekends so it was so quiet the other nights. Definitely, recommend staying here. We will be back. Thanks so much for all the extras like the spices and a few basics like oil and popcorn. It is about 45 minutes to Fairbanks so stock up and cozy in.

Beautiful A frame under the Northern Lights

We loved this cabin! The location was great forAurora viewing! There is a balcony right off the bedroom and a hot tub where you can see the sunrise and sunset. Loved the shower sauna! Used it every day. We saw the Auroras on our second. The cabin was well stocked, and the bed was super comfortable. The only thing worth noting is the stairs up to the loft where the bed is. The ladder goes straight up, and it's a little narrow. Probably wouldn't work for elderly or someone who is really big. It wasn't a problem for us!
