The beach there is almost stone-free and it goes wonderfully flat into the mostly very clear water - a swimming and play paradise especially for children. In a few minutes you are in Grossenbrode, Heiligenhafen, Grömitz or Fehmarn. Even the popular Hansapark is only a 30-minute drive away.
