About this property

Sunset Point Houseboat, a gem of a place

Our awesome location offers peaceful living above the tides, with ocean views, swimming, beautiful birds, kayaking, starry starry skies and of course fantastic fishing, making the houseboat a must stay holiday rental. Here on Andros island our guests enjoy our wonderful accommodations, relishing the simple elegance of the houseboat, while basking in the outstanding natural environment, clear horizons and unbeatable fresh air.
We are definitely far from the crowds.

This unique wooden two storey houseboat has three air conditioned en suite bedrooms, each with a private porch which overlooks the creek. There are two bedrooms upstairs and a king sized studio bedroom downstairs, the beds are comfortable with 100% cotton linens and hand crafted quilts. There is a well equipped kitchen, pleasant lounge, breakfast bar, plus a dining and social area. On the decks we have loungers and adirondack chairs, a picnic table and shade umbrella. The houseboat has decks on three sides so you can always find a spot to fish and bathe in the sun or the shade, read a book, paint the scene, play music, it's a wonderful spot to give yourself the time and space to unwind and enjoy.

The houseboat stands permanently and securely moored in the tidal waters of Fresh Creek, Andros and is connected to the land by a small bridge. It's a rejuvenating place to spend a vacation, a unique gem set in a natural aquarium. The ocean flows under and all around you, marine life swims right by, you'll enjoy a swim or snorkel, fishing and star gazing while relaxing and having fun in this lovely spot.

The houseboat is located on the bone fishing flats of Fresh Creek, you'll be able to wade for miles and fly fish to your heart's content, or enjoy just sitting on the houseboat deck and throwing in your line, bringing in your catch and popping it in the frying pan! If you would like to have a fishing guide we can help you find one of our professional 'best in the business' guides for either fly fishing or reef fishing, snorkeling or bird watching, just let me know and I will connect the dots for you.

Andros is renowned for being off the beaten track, here the Eco tourist can enjoy the fishing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, kayaking and beaching.

Andros is famous for scuba diving and snorkeling, the third largest barrier reef in the world lies just a mile off the eastern shoreline. Our favorite day includes a snorkel in Fresh Creek, if you watch the tides you could ride along with them as the water floods through the creek you will be swept along!

The blue holes of Andros are a must to visit, they are fresh water holes where swimming is a treat and are found deep in the heart of the island in The Blue Holes National Park.

Birders delight in the wildlife experience that Andros has to offer, this island is a destination of choice for North American migratory birds, and our island birds are impressive too.

The island of Andros has at least a hundred miles of unspoiled deserted beaches, I know you'll find your favorite sandy spot. The island is a super destination for walkers too, you'll enjoy great hikes through the National Parks and along the deserted beaches.

If you would like to explore the island a rental car can be arranged to meet you on arrival or picked up mid stay.

Kayaks are also here to explore the creek.

Other things to note:
There is air conditioning in the bedrooms only.
WIFI is available in the main house located just across the garden or the WIFI box can be rented for $10 per day.
There is NO bank on the island so please bring some US $ cash along with you as although most businesses do accept cards some can only take cash.
Please smoke outside the houseboat.

A gem
The house has a great atmosphere as a vintage houseboat with the wood finish and decks off every room. The weather was poor during our stay so our ocean activity was limited, but swimming in the tidal creek was always fine. Gabrielle is a great host, responding to our requests quickly, with extensive local knowledge and contacts. She and Peter even found and gave us extra diving gear we had left at home.

Awesome Andros Island property.
The house boat is really a house on Fresh Creek. It's not floating but is solidly on poured concrete pillars. Great accommodations. We caught multiple fish species right off the deck. We took out the kayaks and tooled around, and even caught some bonefish in the nearby flats. We swam in the creek and watched the stunning sunsets from the back deck. Andros is a gem of an island, undisturbed by the normal commercialization of the Bahamas, and this houseboat is a gem of place to stay when you're ready to relax and really get away from it all. I'd like to give a huge thank you to Gabrielle for her help making our stay great. She was readily available to help out with the small things we needed (like getting the internet hooked up or a water jug refill) at literally a moments notice.

10/10 Incredible!
Three of us stayed in the house on Fresh Creek and we’re counting down the days until we can go back with more people to experience it all over again! The house was everything we could have wanted and more! Everything we could have needed was already in the house - towels, soap, even spare blankets. Both Gabrielle and Peter were so welcoming and kind for the duration of our stay - ensuring we had everything needed and answering our questions throughout the week. There was an incredible book with a list of all Andros activities - it was like a travel agent had written everything to do on the island specific to the house and your stay there! We found this really helpful and picked out several ideas for our week long stay. The book had specific directions from the house to the Blue Holes which we took pictures of and followed. Gabrielle also recommended specific reef fishing guides and fly fishing guides for our group. We took both recommendations and had an experience we’ll never forget! They were so great, we all swear we’re going to only go back to the same guides whenever we make it back to Fresh Creek. We utilized kayaks almost every day, fed the bright fish that live under the house, enjoyed many sunsets and the incredible view! We can’t speak highly enough of our stay with Gabrielle and Peter or the many incredible people we met throughout the week. We will be back!

Serene and Wonderful Paradise
We absolutely loved staying here. We were attracted to the idea of being entirely surrounded by water and we were not disappointed! There are beautiful views at every hour of the day. We loved snorkeling under the house where all the fish hang out. Honey, the owners dog, came by to visit and swim with us many times. You can tell the house has been filled with love for a long time. The owners left some materials in the house to help us navigate the island and know what sites to visit. This was immensely helpful since it was our first time and we really had no idea what to do other than go diving at Small Hope. The island has so much interesting history that we really enjoyed learning about. Our hosts also helped us arrange a car rental which was much appreciated. They communicated clearly and in a timely manner. Most importantly, they are simply lovely people. My only words of advice for future guests is to be prepared for bugs. Long pants, long sleeves, and socks will save you in the evenings. Covering up will allow you to watch the sunset in peace. Bug spray also helps. If ever we return to Andros, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thank you Gabrielle and Peter!

Why they chose this property

It's wonderful to wake up refreshed and take a dip in the creek while your coffee brews.
We found this houseboat living appealing many years ago, it had been towed from the Miami River in the 1960's, and we lovingly restored it to the wonderful place you'll enjoy now. For many years we lived here and raised our family within her walls, it is an awesome place to call home and now we are thrilled to share our lovely spot with you and your family.

What makes this property unique

Located on the Fresh Creek inlet, which is the largest creek system in the Bahamas, this houseboat is right on what we call the bonefish highway, there are flats and a deeper channel within easy reach. Fresh Creek flows inland for upto thirty miles of untouched waterway, you'll find no houses or marinas but you'll see all sorts of marine and bird life. You can fish right off the deck or go wade on your own, hire a bonefish guide or use one of our kayaks to explore.
