Here's what guests say about this vacation rental: "We LOVED our stay at the Buffalo Thunder Lodge! We booked the lodge because it could sleep 23 family members that we were meeting for our Family Reunion. We wanted something that we could all stay in but have enough beds for all of us. We were so pleased with our stay. The lodge was central to all the things we were interested in seeing and doing. It was quiet and the men in the family loved the pool table. The deck outside is a wonderful addition and we spent most of our evenings outside."

This is the perfect lodging for large and small groups. You can rent the whole Black Hills vacation home, which will sleep 26 people. Or if you have a smaller group, you can rent the lower "Bunk Suite" with one large bunk room that has 3 queen beds and a sofa sleeper, 1 bedroom with a queen bed, 1 full bath, washer/dryer and a kitchen/dining room with another sofa sleeper. This can sleep 12.

The "Executive Suite" has 2 King beds, 4 queen beds and 1 sofa sleeper and can sleep 14. It also has a spacious living room, large kitchen/dining room, 3 bathrooms, washer & dryer and large deck with patio furniture.

The suites are adjoining and can be opened to each other - the total sleeping includes 2 king size beds, 8 queen beds, 3 sofa sleepers to sleep 26. Other amenities include 3 full kitchens, 2 laundry rooms, TV's in all the bedrooms areas and living room, A/C units in each suite, gas BBQ Grills for each suite, wifi and cable TV.

The Deadwood Thundercove has easy access, located on the south end of Deadwood, paved roads and plenty of parking. It's 1 mile from main street and you can walk on the Mickelson Trail, right across the road or you can take the Trolley downtown, which stops right in the parking area.

Great Location!

The location is great and is on the Deadwood Trolley route, the check-in code was confusing because there were a few different doors and the code only worked on the one. They are slow to responding if you text. The propane was empty for the grill and the hot tub thermostat must be on the fritz because we had to lower the temp down to 98 before it was a temp we could sit in.

Christmas with all our kids!

We have children and grandchildren living in Kansas and Montana. This was the perfect "meet in the middle" to have all our kids under one roof for the holidays! So much fun was had and we will definitely be doing it again!

What a great place

Large house plenty of beds for our family reunion (16 people) griddle on the deck perfect for cooking breakfast for a large group. Great location for visiting the sites. The garage large enough for big groups of people perfect evening meeting place.

Great house and great location!

This is our second year in a row staying at the Buffalo lodge and we loved it yet again. Convenient to everything including walking to Deadwood, hopping on the Mickelson trail, or grabbing the trolley. Highly recommend!

Family reunion (10 siblings)

Especially loved the large covered deck. Spent hours chatting, laughing, cooking, eating and even enjoying the motorcycle traffic. The game room was lotsa fun. Being close to the downtown area was a big plus, too. It was perfect for our family!

The property was just as described. Easy check-in. Great location. Being able to access the trolley from the property was wonderful! The property managers were wonderful to work with and helped us through a couple of minor items right away! Would definitely rent again!

Good vacation spot

My overall experience was enjoyable. Plenty of things to keep us entertained while we were there. The only downside was it was pretty icy under all the snow so a few of my friends wiped out at the bottom of the stairs. Ice melt wasn't provided, but we could've went to the store to buy some too. Good experience otherwise.

Repeat stay!

This property works so well for our family reunion. Absolutely love the hang out space not attached to the main building. Hoping that the sliding door is fixed and the room dusted next time! We look forward to next year.

Perfect for families

Location was great, easy to get to town. So many sleeping rooms Beds were good, kitchen well stocked The Game/man cave was perfect for the kids. Hot tub was great for our cold nights! Highly recommend for families, snowmobiling, and big groups!

Great group stay in Deadwood

Great place for large group. We had 10 people total and everyone had a room. Right at a trolley stop and a trail going downtown. Adjoining game room was an added bonus. Great place!

This place was awesome! Everything you need is already here and it's huge. One negative is the beds.

Wonderful place. Only negative would be the beds were not comfortable. Would recommend upgrading them. Everything else was great!

Big House Crew from Buckman, MN

It was perfect!. We had a group of 16 friends in the 60ish age group. We were there to do a little utv riding. That we did. The house was a perfect for our needs. The Mann Cann was perfect for realization and entertainment. The trolley made it an easy trip to main street. The house was loaded with stuff. Definitely would stay here again.
