The property was just as described and was perfect for our family get together. While quaint its dining room and parlor were great for our meals, game times and general catch-up conversations.
Great stay in Thibodaux for Christmas to visit family. The home is older and rustic, with lots of character and many original features. We looked it up and found it to be built in 1908. It was VERY clean, nicely decorated and filled with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Kitchen has everything you need. Plenty of extra towels and bedding. Nothing was cheap, like you find in many rentals. The host was great to communicate with and answered any questions I had before and during the trip, almost immediately each time. As for location, it is located off the main street in Thibodaux, and close to most everything. Rental homes are slim pickings in Thibodaux, so we were very fortunate to find this one. Would stay again and highly recommend.
This is my first negative review EVER! The house was precious. It was clean and exactly as pictured on the listing. We had a long list of mishaps. Door knobs basically all fell off. Someone came out to fix this but for whatever reason left them untouched. Frustrating but we were going to make it work until my children got locked in the bathroom and could not get out. Luckily no one was hurt but it was very scary for the girls. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Here’s what happened prior to that: The toilet was broken so we had to attempt to fix it ourselves and had to buy a plunger. The sink in the only full bath was clogged the entirety of the trip. We of course knew there was only one full bath but when it doesn’t function properly it posed a problem for our two families staying there. We had no hot water most of the trip. The front door doesn’t stay closed unless it’s locked. The pull out couch snapped in half in the middle of the night and we couldn’t get it to fold back in. The queen mattress upstairs needs to be changed as the head area sits lowers than the feet. Not very comfortable to sleep even with two pillows under your head. I contacted the host early that first morning to make him aware of all of the issues and someone was sent out but the only issue that was fixed was the couch. It was forced back in so we had somewhere to sit. They brought an air mattress as replacement which was much appreciated. None of the plumbing issues or knobs were fixed. We paid a premium as it was for Mardi Gras. We are happy to pay 1000k a night any day for a quality stay. If the issues would’ve been addressed I wouldn’t even be typing this review. Im not really sure if this was a whole lot of bad luck or just bad management or a combination of both. Sincerely hope that this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
When I found this property in Thibodaux, I was excited because there aren’t that many houses for rent for short periods there. We enjoyed our stay. Everything was very clean. I don’t remember reading anything about the bedrooms being upstairs, which would have been good information since some of my party are elderly. There are a few minor things that could be improved: no electrical outlet in bottom floor bathroom, outlets in second floor bathroom and in first bedroom on the right not working, lamps not working in living room, light over bathroom sink on second floor not working, light over stairs not working, no dishwasher detergent available. Even though these issues arose, we still enjoyed all being together and the ease of communicating with the owners. Thank you.
The host was very responsive with my questions. The house is a charming! Five of us stayed with room to spare.
