Our time here was great. We enjoyed the corn hole, ping pong table, and pool table. We didn't use any of the beach toys but we did go down to the beach many times. Yes the steps are steep, but my husband and I made a workout from it by going up and down many times. As others mentioned the spiders all over were frustrating, but being so close to the lake brings them. We tried to wipe them away and the next morning they would appear. It's just the nature of being close to the lake and the foliage near there as well. Maybe getting rid of the tree that is in front of the kitchen window would help and also bring in that view even more.
A couple of recommendations would be to add some wall decor around the house to cut down on the echo. Especially in the dinning room area and basement.
Also I would recommend getting rid of the high top/bar style chairs. With families and you have older people, it's hard for them to be on the taller chairs.
Lastly more chairs to be able to sit and enjoy company in the basement. The ones there now just did not cut it.
Overall we had a great time with our family and friends and family that live by came and visited, it was wonderful!
Best part of the house are the lovely views over Malletts Bay from inside and out. House is on the main road around the bay and the bay is below. Some of our group (all adults) were disappointed with access to beach -- the steps down to the water are very steep. There were two paddleboards we wanted to use but we were intimidated to carry the paddleboards down. To be fair, the description of the property did not claim beach access was easy. The property manager communicated to us that there were issues with the stone patio due to recent rainstorms, and this proactive outreach was greatly appreciated. Bedrooms all as described; one is under a sloping ceiling. Kitchen could use more supplies. Our group enjoyed dining on the outside deck.
We would definitely stay here again. We had a great time, despite lots of rain. The house is just as pictured. It was spacious and perfect for a family of four with a teenage boy and girl needing separate rooms. All 3 bedrooms have comfortable Queen beds. The view is great. The house sits up above the lake. Great sunset views. The beach below is very private. We hardly saw anyone on it. The host was very responsive with any issues or questions. There are two paddleboards, beach towels, beach chairs. The lake was amazing to swim in and paddleboard on. The pool table, ping pong table, and cornhole set downstairs were amazing to have. The AC works great. They had shampoo, etc in the bathroom. And all the reviews are correct-the shower is worth the price of admission alone. It is incredible. That’s all I will say. You have to experience it.
Some small things to know about: There were cobwebs all over the outside doors and windows. The towel rack kept falling apart. There is no mirror in the upstairs bedroom and only a small face mirror in the upstairs bathroom. There are no small pots in the kitchen, only two huge pots. No cheese grater. The house is right on a main road, so you do hear and see the cars going by a little bit. The stairs down to the lake are steep and at the end you have to scramble down some broken up concrete. It was fine for us, but if you aren’t agile, you won’t want to do it. If you want to paddleboard, you have to get the paddleboar
This was my first time using VRBO and I had a lot of questions. The communication was A++. Everything about the house was exactly as described. Excellent experience would definitely recommend.
The property worked very well for us as a central location to Burlington, Stowe and other attractions in central Vermont. The property has been updated with a lot of nice features (shower is amazing) but the sunroom/patio could still use some work. Tall people may have some issues with the sloped ceilings in the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Overall very happy with the property and enjoyed our stay tremendously.
Very nice interior and great master shower/bathroom. Great with the dog with the closed fence…playing frisbee and chilling out. Comfy main couch and beds as well. Nice comfy place to stay especially if you are going to be out and about mostly but want somewhere comfy to land. A few things were not as advertised like the lower porch and stair way, also basement with pool table and ping pong table could have been in better shape…but not a big deal. Lovely view being right on the lake.
I would definitely recommend.
This home is wonderful! Spacious, clean, very updated, breathtaking views! Fenced in side yard for our pup. Minor adventure down steel stairs to get to the lake but they were very stable and it was totally doable. Fun paddle boards and kayak at the lake. Shower is out of this world. Location unbeatable. Highly recommend!

Nice house unless you want to go to the lake
My family rented this house to spend time on the lake with my 85 year old father so he could see his grandchildren and enjoy the lake. Due to issues with United Airlines my father and husband were unable to make it to Vermont to use the house. This was kind of a good thing, because my father would not have been able to use the 'stairs of death' as my children called them. The photos of the stairs to the lake in the listing (which were not there when I booked) seem to show that the stairs end at a deck which is ON the sand. It is extremely misleading. That deck is about 5 feet OFF the sand-with NO railing. The way down from the deck is to climb on some discarded cement that is rather randomly placed at the end. Literally CLIMB. Additionally, you must make sure not to get caught up in any of the vines from the plants all over the stairs and the end of the deck. My sister and I had to remove the vines from the stairs to make sure no one tripped. The stairs are steep. Did I mention 'stairs of death'?
I have more to write but I am running out of characters.
-nice house as pictured except for cob webs and spiders all around the outside of the house covering doors/windows and the porch
-kitchen has a billion things for grilling but nothing to use for baking/roasting in the fancy oven, I had to use a Christmas pie plate to cook a roast instead of the rusty metal pans
-the kitchen deck railings are horizontal wires and the screws are not covered on the ends.
House was clean, spacious, and had everything you could possible need. The fenced yard is amazing. The main shower was incredible but so was the outdoor shower overlooking the bay. We loved our stay and would definitely love to come back again.
First of all, the master bathroom has arguably the most incredible shower on the planet. That in and of itself is worth the price of admission for the home. The home is clean, beautiful, and hosts tremendous views. Would highly recommend to any family looking for a stay on Lake Champlain.
Beautiful home right on the bay. Views from every room. Comfortable and all we needed to host a dinner for our relatives in the area. Thank you for sharing your home.
This house has a gorgeous view of Lake Champlain and is located only a short drive from Burlington. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee with the great view and our dog loved the ease of going out the sliding glass door into the fenced yard. The rainfall shower head was also amazing! Definitely would come back again when it warm to enjoy the lake,
This home outshone many of the surrounding homes. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom is incredible (I have never found myself saying that before) and the location was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this home!
This property is a gem. Super comfortable with some very nice, high end touches. Kid friendly and right on Mallet’s Bay. Can’t beat this place for a true, Lake Champlain experience.
