We had a family wedding in Gaylord. The house was perfect for my adult daughters and their family. Couldnt have asked for a better place or location. It was quiet at night.
The place is cute. You can see the lake right across the road and the public access beach/campground/boat ramp is great to be so close. The place itself is pretty nice, you can tell there’s been a compromise on updates vs cost but it’s totally livable and good for a week.
Overall my group (3 adults, a 6 year old, and a dog) enjoyed our stay. The house is very nice. We enjoyed sitting out on the porch (from which you can see the lake).
My only complaint is the check-in process. The listing says check-in is at 4pm, so my group planned for that. The owner sent me a message at 3pm asking for our ETA and said that check-in was at 5pm. I was not thrilled with this, especially since no explanation was given for the change. This did not ruin our stay, but was annoying.
This is a light-filled, well-proportioned house. The bedrooms and living spaces are good sized. The laminate dark hardwood floors shine. The stairwell has a high ceiling, large Palladian window and is full of light. The kitchen and living room are a single room which runs the width of the house, with large windows. The lake is visible behind the houses across the street. The views out of the windows are peaceful. The neighborhood (on a July weekend) was totally quiet. There is almost no traffic except occasional walkers or bicyclists. The lake houses in the neighborhood are much-loved and mostly vintage. There is a large sunny porch and comfortable chairs.
There are two bedrooms on the second floor (and a full bath) and a single bedroom with ensuite bath on the first floor, plus another full bath. The exterior photo is of the back? of the house. The front is has a welcoming white porch.
One might quibble that the downstairs hallway bathroom wall has holes that need repairing, or that the toilet handle has to be held down for a complete flush. The mattresses are a little squishy. But we found it clean and charming. Each major room has an air conditioning unit that sits on the floor and vents out of the window. The house was cool on an 85+ degree day when we arrived.
We found everything that we needed- ample linens, well-stocked kitchen. There is a TV in each bedroom and the living room. Thanks, Amanda!
