About this property

Enjoy a secluded stay in a peaceful country setting. Our modern shipping container home is nestled on a hillside in the corner of our 160 acre farm. This unique space has 2 bedrooms, each bedroom has a queen bed and full closet. The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house, making it perfect for two couples. The home is complete with a fully stocked kitchen and a bathroom, a commons area and a deck overlooking the countryside. A beautiful 5 min drive from Viroqua and Westby, WI. Two quaint small towns with lots to offer. The Driftless region has a wide variety of year-round outdoors activities to offer. Spend the day trout fishing on nearby streams, biking the Driftless area, canoe the Kickapoo river, or go for a hike at our many parks, and return to the peace and quiet. Enjoy the scenery from the deck or have a bon fire.

Cool place

Wasn’t sure what to expect but the container house was very cool place. Quite and peaceful place to stay, we had a tournament on the river not to far. Owners were very helpful.

Unique space, good location

My wife and I had a wonderful time staying here. The shipping container house was a unique and comfortable layout. Location was quiet and peaceful in the country, but close enough for a short drive to Viroqua. I would stay here again.

Quiet, cute country stay

The house was so comfortable and cute! The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were very comfortable. It was great to be able to walk on the property and see the deer running through the fields. We loved the quiet country location but so nice to be so close to Viroqua, ( and the Driftless Cafe :).

Perfect in every way!

An old friend and I were in town for a few days to catch up and do some fishing. This place is simply amazing! Very clean and comfortable and private while being only minutes from town and as many trout streams as two old timers could handle! Would whole heartedly recommend and will definitely be back! Recent stay at the hillside hideaway

It was a great experience! We stayed here for a recent wedding at Vernon vineyards and it was about 5 miles from the venue. It was the perfect place for our family to stay and has accurate description. I have no complaints- only good things to say about the property and owner! Thanks for having us!

Quaint & Relaxing Place

Private quiet quaint homey place we enjoyed being close to everywhere we wanted to go. Loved the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe very beautiful. Met family in Cashton we definitely be coming back again.

My in-laws stayed here a few as a Christmas gift from us. They are both bikers and adventurous people who definitely had more than enough activities to fill a couple days. Close to a winery/brewery. Took lots of nature pictures. Also couldn’t say enough about how nice the VRBO was.

Peaceful getaway

Hidden Hillside was just as lovely as the photos! Everything was very clean and tidy, and the home was surprisingly spacious. The beds were very comfortable and the AC was most appreciated during this hot weather! Communication with the owners was very easy and efficient. Kitchen was very well appointed and the laundry room came in handy and worked well without being noisy. The dishwasher was great to have as well. There isn’t much room to move around the sides of the beds, but I’d rather have a large bed than more space to get out of it. Our relatives were all curious to see a house made of shipping containers, and were most impressed! Thanks for a relaxing, quiet, restful place where all our needs were anticipated.

What a beautiful place

I can’t begin to describe what a beautiful place this was. From the moment we drove up the driveway, we knew this home was going to have a special place in our hearts. This was our first getaway since having our son and it was everything we imagined and more. House was clean. It had everything we needed to cook ourselves a meal. Waking up to the birds chirping and the peace surrounding the home was exactly what we needed. Loved how secluded it was yet only 10 minutes away from the cutest town! Highly recommend! We came back from our mini vacay and couldn’t stop telling our friends and family how cute and perfect this home was. Already planning our next stay!

Beautiful little home!

Absolutely fantastic: well-appointed, clean, cozy, and very cool that it’s a shipping container construction! We were in town to check out a local school for our daughter. Served our purposes perfectly. We are pretty picky about beds too and slept well both nights! We’ll be back!

Lovely retreat!

I needed a quiet place to spend a few days working on a new work project and this place was incredible. It was just the right size -- plenty big enough for one person to spread out -- and it's situated on a well-kept but very rural property. It was so nice to be able to open the window and listen to birds chirping all around me! I wish it would have been warmer -- I would have loved to have sit on the deck. I hope to stay here again the next time I need a space and place to focus.

Relaxing escape

This unique get away is great place to stay. A little cottage made out of shipping containers. Check-in is easy, place is super clean and well supplied. There’s tons of wildlife to enjoy. While driving beware of the deer herds. This is our second time staying here, and we hope to do it again.

Comfortable stay

Why they chose this property

Our rental is in a peaceful and quiet setting on the back corner of our farm. You get a countryside feel but it is close to 2 quaint towns with great restaurants and grocery options. There is also lots of places to hike and bike and snowshoe or cross country ski in the winter in addition to word class trout streams with in a few miles. There are usually deer in the fields and plenty of birds. You can walk our farm, enjoy the view from the deck or build a bon fire.

What makes this property unique

Our rental is build using 3 refurbished shipping containers together to make a unique 800 sq foot space with a deck. The bedrooms are at each end of the home with the living room and kitchen in the middle giving guests some privacy.
