About this property

Half Moon Cabin at Cave Creek, tiny RRG glamping in a big way

Half Moon Cabin is a romantic outdoor escape in the heart of Red River Gorge. Just a stone's throw away from Natural Bridge, Miguel's Pizza, and much more. This cabin is newly and lovingly renovated using recycled and reclaimed locally sourced materials upscaled with modern necessities.

Features:
1 Bedroom
Kitchenette
Private Deck
Fire Pit
Outdoor Seating
Free On-site Parking
Private Trails
Scenic Waterfall

Our new tiny space is located near the center of the Red River Gorge, alongside the South Fork headwaters of the Red River. This exceptional stay offers beautiful views through the window wall or the deck overlooking the creek. It is perfect for 1 or 2 people looking for a relaxing getaway.

The home is furnished with a full-size mattress that can comfortably sleep two. Please remember this space is less than 150 square feet. So bring someone you love! :P

Inside the kitchenette, you will find silverware, pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, and mugs. We have also provided extra items you might need during your stay, including salt, pepper, olive oil, coffee, a coffee maker, a kettle (the sink in the cabin is cold water only), an induction plate, and of course, a bottle opener. There is also a mini-fridge to keep any beverages, bottles, cans, and food nice and cold during your stay.

Guests may access a private fire pit behind the cabin if they need to cook anything too big for the induction plate or want to cozy up and catch a fantastic view of the stars. (PLEASE NOTE guests should be cautious when using the fire pit. If it is too windy or you do not trust yourself to light AND extinguish a fire safely...please don't make one).

We haven't forgotten about the "bear" necessities! A private bathroom contains a toilet and an open-air heated shower. Guests must access the bathroom from the deck.

[BE ADVISED - during the winter, the bathroom is equipped with a camp toilet and is not heated. If you're like us and occasionally need to take a midnight trip to the restroom, please plan for the weather during your stay. ALSO, the shower water heater is unavailable on days below freezing due to potential damage to the heater. During warmer months, there will be a hot shower and a standard flushable toilet.]

While this cabin may be small, the adventure is anything but! Guests have access to the cabins' land, including a private trail that runs behind the glamping site and goes upstream to a woodland clearing where the creek turns and boasts a secluded waterfall. The entire property is yours to explore and enjoy.

If you like wandering under the canopy of pines, spruce, and oak, and waking up to the sound of the babbling brook, then this is the place for you.

We have loved transforming this small but mighty cabin and hope you enjoy your stay at Cave Creek!

Lovely rustic tiny house!

Half Moon was an amazing place to stay for our “glamping” weekend in Red River Gorge! It was a quiet and quite cozy spot. My partner and I enjoyed sitting around the community fire ring to make our dinner as well as playing trivia card games while relaxing on the porch and listening to the creek and birds. Our “neighbors” were all very kind and friendly, which was a plus! Half Moon does not have air conditioning, so we were very grateful for the multiple fans and dehumidifier the host provided. We were also grateful that the evenings were cool and we could open the window (with the screen secured tightly to keep out the bugs of course)! The outdoor toilet and shower were a quirky and enjoyable aspect to our stay. Sam was continually prompt with their responses, sometimes even responding before I closed the VRBO app! We truly appreciated their hospitality. We are hoping to find a weekend to gather friends and rent all three “moons” sometime soon (in the fall to ensure it’s not too toasty)!

Half Moon Full Joy

We loved our stay! I couldn’t rave about this property more. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and we loved how secluded and peaceful the space was. We can’t wait to come back with friends!

Wonderful place to stay

This is an amazing property!! We will definitely stay here again. Had everything we need, was warm at night, private location. All three cabins were rented out and it was still private and quiet. We enjoyed it a lot!!!
