Altamont Lodge provides a unique authentic experience as it was constructed using reclaimed 100+ year old timbers from log cabins in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and consists of a large 3 bedroom, 3 bath main house with a colonnade connecting it to a two bedroom, two bath guest cabin. The guest cabin portion of the Lodge is an original 100+ year old Tennessee cabin which was disassembled, reconstructed and restored to its primitive beauty.
The Great Room has a soaring 30’ open timber ceiling, a stately wood-burning fireplace, oversized and comfy furniture, a large flatscreen TV, grand piano, card table, wet bar, pool table, and half bath. It is the perfect area to congregate with family and friends, to relax and play.
The main level has an open concept kitchen and dining area. With granite countertops, a professional Wolf gas cooktop with griddle, stainless double ovens, and a large side-by side refrigerator, you’ll find everything you need to cook the perfect meals during your stay. The kitchen bar seats four comfortably, while the dining table seats eight and just outside the covered deck you'll find additional dining space.
Upstairs, you’ll find a large master bedroom, french doors overlooking the Great Room, and an anteroom with daybed, which leads to a spacious upper porch that overlooks the captivating view of the mountains and beyond. The ensuite master bath has a large jacuzzi-style jetted tub and a glorious walk in shower with two shower heads.
The second floor also has a beautifully-appointed bedroom with queen size bed, many windows overlooking the front yard with rolling hills, and fabulous mountain view. Hall bath boasts a clawfoot tub, spacious shower, and a unique vanity made from a wooden barrel. The bunkroom holds three twin beds and one full, large windows, a spacious closet and is ideal for kids and adults alike.
The guest cabin is attached to the main lodge by a wide colonnade with reading nook. The cabin has a fully appointed kitchen, breakfast area, living area with pull out sofabed, fireplace, flat-screen TV, and quaint front porch with swing. Upstairs are two comfy bedrooms and well-appointed bath.
The Lodge boasts a vast, wide wraparound front and side porch, with comfortable seating for both relaxing as well as dining, with steps down to a firepit area that is perfect for enjoying smores on cold nights. Guest access:
The home is located in a small, gated community. The homes in the community have large private lots.
Other things to note:
The home has central heat and two fireplaces. One fireplace is woodburning, and the other is gas. It does not have air conditioning, which most people are used to; however, the climate in Avery County tends to be cooler in the summer. Just opening windows and french doors provides a lovely breeze and tends to keep the temperature in summer just right inside.
Please be prepared for icy roads during the winter months. 4 wheel drive during colder months is advised as the driveway to the Lodge is fairly steep.
