Home is just as pictured. We were greeted by the Kent when we arrived and he gave us a tour of the home. Quiet neighborhood and the outside courtyard is peaceful. A great couple of days in an amazing home.

Treetop - A Gem
The Treetop property was simply immaculate! The host (Kent) was a super-host as he warm, accommodating and even provided some fresh vegetables from his garden. The kitchen was very complete down to the coffee and multiple spices. The bedroom very comfortable as was the living room. The bathroom was spotless and had plenty of towels. Outside was a tropical paradise.

Tropical Retreat
This was hands down the nicest rental we have ever booked through VRBO. It was charmingly furnished, immaculate and well provisioned. We had a lovely courtyard with a fountain, hummingbirds, and lovely tropical vines to ourselves. The owner has created a beautiful, relaxing retreat that is located within walking distance of trails, Balboa Park, and a shopping district. Looking forward to booking another stay in the future.

Another wonderful visit...
Repeat visitor to Treetop. We love the location, property, and cleanliness. As always, Kent was a fantastic host, gracious and helpful. Don't hesitate if you are sitting on the fence or weighing a beach rental, it's a great play to stay and explore San Diego. You can get to the beaches in no time (or out East), and North & South Park are dynamic neighborhoods to eat, shop, and drink.

Garden Oasis
Our host met with us to show us the amazing gardens surrounding this stunning property. which included a porch off the living room and our own garden patio area. There were small oases cleverly tucked in all over the property, which was blooming with Bird of Paradise plants. The property was immaculate, and it had everything we needed, down to ice packs for a lunch. The location was fabulous, with restaurant suggestions from the host in walking distance. We would definitely return to the property, and we would highly recommend it to others.

WOW!
This place is simply outstanding. A 1920's craftsman home that Kent has lovingly restored to its full glory. He made a career of high-end rehabs and the quality, care, and attention to detail show in every square foot. A very large 1-br apartment with 2 decks, a big patio and front porch and complete privacy. There's a very interesting bookshelf and Kent even let me borrow one on the promise to return it the next time we are in town. Off street parking in a very quiet neighborhood, just outside of Balboa Park. Quiet, quiet, quiet. This is the place we will try to stay every time we come to town.

Paradise on earth!
Kent was an amazing host and has a gorgeous property that we fell in love with. It is a large, comfortable space surrounded by lush gardens he maintains with utmost care and precision. Open the windows to enjoy fresh air from the fruit and flowering trees while listening to all the exotic birds and zen fountains. Excellent location and wonderful neighborhood, close to the expressway, Balboa Park, and lots of delightful food and drink options nearby.

Wonderful property, with even more wonderful host
Obviously from all other reviews, this property and location are amazing, with beautiful gardens to enjoy, and easy walking to so many fun spots in North Park, South Park, Balboa. Kent was so easy to connect with, and communicated quickly at all times. The house is a perfect size for 2 people. Bed is comfortable and large! The shower has shampoo/conditioner/soap available, it has great hot water and pressure, and lots of fluffy towels to use afterwards. We grilled twice during our stay, and enjoyed the ease of the grill, the relaxing environment of the patio with water feature and pretty pergola over the seating area. It is also great to have washer/dryer available, as we were there for the SD 1/2 marathon and had clothes to clean after running! Kent and his home made for wonderful memories and experiences during our trip. Thanks!

From the moment we walked in we felt at home. All our needs had been considered and provided for. The location was outstanding. Kent's suggestions on dining and things to do were spot on. Everything about our stay was wonderful, from the personal greeting by Kent to the location (so close to the park and all the great restaurants and neighborhood of North Park) to the comfort and Craftsman elegance of the unit itself. We had mixed weather while we were were visiting. On the nice-weather days we really enjoyed both the charming porch and courtyard and ability to walk around the lovely neighborhood and to 30th street and all it offers. But we also loved just hanging out and reading or watching a movie during the rainy morning or two, from our private cozy nest looking out into the lush tropical oasis that Kent has created. It truly is like being in a magical tree house! Looking forward to our next visit already - and thank you Kent, for being such a great host!

Private Oasis
This beautiful home makes you feel like you’re in a treehouse, as you are surrounded by palm trees, flowering vines, succulents and many other plants. Kent was so welcoming and took time with us to explain the area. We were really impressed with his attentiveness. We felt very safe in the neighborhood. Many people had their homes decorated with lights everywhere for Halloween and there were lots of people out running or walking their dog(s). Walking distance to Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo, many restaurants and shops. So much to see and do. I really hope we can come back to San Diego and will definitely try to stay here again if available! Thank you Kent!

I purchased this property 25 years ago, spent several years renovating its 20 rooms and installing hundreds of assorted trees and shrubs. I was honored to have this property featured by "Save Our Heritage Organization's Tour of Historic Homes" in 2007. As a long-time house renovator and avid gardener - it has been exciting but daunting to maintain these sprawling gardens year after year.. My 25+ "Regulars" who visit annually offer encouragement and support. "Wow, Kent, the gardens have grown so much since last year." Some even lend a hand with Spring weeding. I'm pleased that nearly all Winter guests of 2022 returned in 2023.

The upper floor Treetop suite offers 4 - 5 private rooms plus its own walled tropical garden. There are two bubbling fountains on site, and dozens of visiting birds provide a peaceful backdrop as guests spend time on their sunny terrace. Some guests tease that they enjoy the gardens so much -- they neglect local attractions..." relaxing instead... at their own private resort."

Picturesque Balboa Park is located next door while Downtown is 5 minutes away, the Airport about 15 minutes west. Hidden among lush greenery - visitors are startled to discover such a sprawling oasis in the central core of urban San Diego.
