About this property

Glacier Nat'l Park A-frame w/ hot tub- ElkCalf Mountain A-Frame, GNP basecamp!

You'll love this Glacier National Park A-frame basecamp! Located just 7 miles from the western entrance of the Going-to-the-sun Road, this brand new (May '22) cabin features a wonderful rustic feel with modern touches. Completely finished in locally-sourced aspen, you'll cherish the mornings waking up with coffee in the handmade Adirondack chairs to the rising sun shining on Teakettle Mountain. Escape the elements on the covered porch, or drink in the rain from a seat in the hot tub!
The A-Frame is 18'x24' with a 6' covered porch. Parking is shared with other guests and about a 50 meter meandering walk from the cabin- please come prepared to use our handcart to haul your suitcase. Enter the cabin from the porch, open the glass door to the interior beauty of locally-sourced aspen. The kitchen is well-equipped for all meals and cooking, with built-in cooktop, microwave, toaster, and under-the-counter refrigerator. We provide spices, oil, utensils, cookware, plates and bowls. The living room is spacious and inviting with a large convertible sofa bed. A steep ladder leads to a sleeping loft where you can sleep on a wonderfully cozy memory foam mattress surrounded by the local aspen. Downstairs there is a small, full bathroom with everything you need to refresh after an adventure in the park. Outside is a full-acre yard shared with other guests in the house (ElkView) and neighboring A-Frame (Flattop Mountain). Tucked behind Flattop and next to the cabin is a hot tub shared with guests at Flattop. Plan on an evening dip to enjoy the stars, or a morning of coffee. There is a separate propane grill for each cabin and a communal firepit area for evening recreation. Don't forget to keep your eyes and ears open for elk- the animals from the ranch next door make frequent visits to the area faced by the cabin. Wi-fi can be spotty but is generally useful. It can sometimes be out for a couple of seconds or even up to a day or two- so please plan accordingly.

Great Getaway

Comfortable cabin with all the necessities, and the neighbor's elk were a fun addition! Property managers communicated readily and the stay was fantastic.

Cozy and clean

Loved this place overall. Great location near the park-6 miles and 15 minutes. Some quirks: metal roof that creaks in the afternoon sun, railroad tracks not too far away with regular trains into the wee hours, and a moderate but constant hum of traffic from nearby highway 2. This was so much better than staying in the park at one of the lodges and well worth the minor inconveniences. The hot tub is a delightful amenity after a day in Glacierlsndia!

Glacier Getaway

This was a very nice property. The kitchen was great and the grill was awesome to have. There was plenty of room for our family and even though it was hot, there was an air conditioner to keep the room comfortable. I really liked the chairs on the front porch.

Great location but needs work.

This A frame is in a great location for adventures in or around GNP. It could be extraordinary but I feel it has had a lack of attention to what the property needs. Here were my issues -Water heater must be going out. The heat cuts in and out from cold to hot. The first day I took a cold shower because it just wouldn't turn on. -No coffee pot. -No cleaning supplies. Paper towels, Broom, dustpan ect. -Dishes were not cleaned good that were put back up. -Hot tub GFCI was tripped because the bubble cover is busted off. So it got wet and tripped so it was off when we tried to use it. I would usually let things like this go. This place is in a awesome location but for $325 a night I hold a property like this to a higher standard.

Great location

This was a very nice place for our family of four. The clean and cozy A frame is in a great location to access all that Glacier has to offer. The weather was too hot while we were there, but the hot tub would be great on any cooler day.

Great stay in an A-frame

My family had a great stay! This new A-frame was designed very well and had every we needed. My 2 boys ages 12 & 10 fit nicely in the lofted bed and the couch was very comfortable for my wife & I. The host was very responsive and the location to Glacier NP entrance is excellent!

Great launch point

Elk Calf was a perfect location and launch point for our adventures between Glacier and Columbia Falls. When we weren’t hiking, rafting, or exploring, we were back at the A-frame relaxing on the Adirondack chairs, having a bonfire or in the hot tub. The amenities were perfect. Our favorites were The comfty /cozy bed and pillows, French press coffee for early morning reads on the deck, and heat/AC to balance mother nature. The hosts were super responsive and we had no issues. This is a special place with the closeness to nature and distant train horns that will make us return

Hi, I'm Nate. My wife Chelsea and I live and work as scientists just outside of Glacier National Park, and just finished building our cabins and our house from the ground-up with our own four hands (2022!). In effort to give credit where credit is due, we have also enlisted the expert assistance of our young children, tool belts and all. We've also started our own business to conduct science in the Glacier area!
