When you walk into Emerald Grande you are greeted by the front desk ladies who are so sweet and knowledgeable. After getting our room keys we headed to the room and our excitement quickly turned disgust. As soon as we opened the door a terrible musty smell filled the entire room. We decided to keep the patio doors open for a while to air it out hoping it would get better… no change. We tried spraying perfume to cover. No help. My daughter found an empty medicine bottle in the room that we stayed in- not a huge deal but then wondered how clean the room was. We got in late so I messaged Vacasa at midnight about the issue and didn’t hear back until mid day on the second day of our trip. Room still smells and it won’t budge. Vacasa emailed and said they would let their maintenance team know. I made sandwiches for my family and a small black bug scurried across the kitchen counter. I ended up calling Vacasa after not hearing anything and they said they would have someone call me to set up a time to come to the room. That evening we decided to take matters in our own hands and bought car air freshners and clipped them on a fan that was in the room as well as sprayed other room freshners. On the 3rd day of our trip Emerald Grande called after 12pm and said the maintenance man was there asking what time we could meet. We were in Okaloosa island and I asked if 2:30 would work and that didn’t work for him. Our trip was 3 nights and 4 days so I told them to forget about it.
