Communication nightmare

The house was great, unfortunately our check in process was horrific and ruined our first day there. We drove 8 hours to arrive to maintenance and cleaning in the house—and it was at check in time. When I knocked on the door they let me know no one had the place reserved and the owner was due to check in the next day, and stay for the next 5 days. I showed him my reservation info and he told me they would need 20 more mins to finish. I texted the owner and tried calling him during this time with my concerns. He never responded. Maintenance and cleaning finished and I asked them if they could please wait until I checked if my code would access the doors. Thankfully they did because my code would not open any of the doors. If we hadn't shown up while they were there, we wouldn't have been able to get in and it was snowing very hard.I asked him to call-I had no code to the house, no access to the digital instruction book or shuttle info but he chose to just text and take up more of the time I was supposed to be enjoying my time off. He finally offered that if I wasn't happy he would let me stay the night and refund the rest of my stay or I could leave immediately and he would refund me the entire stay. Convenient since he was to come the next day originally and there were no other places to house a party of 10 at the last minute in the area. Just a very bad way to run a business and not good overall customer service. My worst experience with an owner/manager ever.

Perfect Family Friendly House

What an incredible house. We had 3 families stay for a two day ski weekend and had a blast. The kids loved the twin bed room and the kitchen was well equipped to prepare meals. These hosts truly thought of everything - plenty of towels, games, etc. we didn’t utilize the shuttle but Crystal was only a 3 minute drive away.

Best appointed home ever

The house was very comfortable for our family of 11. The owners thought of everything - games, boot dryers, hot tub, sauna, comfortable beds, nice bedding, heated garage, ski storage rack and so much more.

We Visited For One Day

We visited property for one day. Beautiful, clean, well maintained, and very cozy. We went outside to the car, and i got an email about we were being loud. I felt that was kind of ridiculous since we were just walking to the car but other than that, perfect stay. Will visit again with the kids for sure.

Guys Golf Trip

Nice house and very clean, not as spacious as advertised. The sleeping arrangements were not great for 8 guys on a golf trip. Did not like the cameras and decibel level monitor outside on the back patio. Owner contacted me about the decibel level with a screenshot of the meter at 8:00 PM on a Friday night.

Awesome Stay

What a wonderful house. Our Golf team had a great stay. There was plenty of room and plenty to enjoy. This was the perfect group getaway for our team. We enjoyed the cabinet of games, the hot tub, firepit, and the sauna. The time spent bonding in the living room and around the dining table was priceless. The house had it all. This would be a great place for a family to hang out in all the seasons. The communication with the owner was great. They answered all our questions and helped in every way possible. We can't wait to head back next year.

Fantastic location and accommodations!

We came for a long ski weekend with another family - kids of all ages - and could not have been happier with this property. From the kitchen and baths to the game closet and laundry area, everything was incredibly well stocked. There was even coffee waiting for us! House was spotless. Owner always responded within minutes to any question or inquiry. Location was perfect - just a 2-minute drive to Crystal Mountain. Oh, and all beds were some of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in. Great job, JT!

a perfect winter getaway!

The lodge was the perfect getaway spot for our ski vacation. A two minute drive to the slopes and everyone appreciated the hot tub / sauna after a day of skiing! It is a wonderful space for 2 families to share. Our kids loved all the games and the adults appreciated all the nice finishes. It has a very well equipped kitchen. Would 100% recommend!

Great spot for the boys

Decided to go up north with all the groomsmen to have an overnight stay at this place to celebrate a bachelor party over in TC, everything was great! Place was very clean and organized just like in the pictures. The massage chair and the arcade games were a nice accommodation. It’s even got a hot tub outside in the back patio. We had absolutely no complaints aside from the wifi not working but it was no biggie, it’s a perfect spot to hang out with friends and family. It was 8 of us and we all stayed very comfortably. 10/10 definitely recommend and will be coming back.

The pictures do not lie! Absolutely amazing place to stay!

I stayed with 4 older teens and it was fantastic! Everyone had space to spread out and places to gather. This place has amenities galore! The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and utensils and everything you needed to have some great meals. I used the grill every night and cooked breakfast every morning for my crew. There was even a game closet that had a great inventory to choose from. The host was very attentive and definitely went the extra mile with everything. It made our vacation so easy and comfortable and I just can't say enough good things about it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

An up north oasis

My boyfriend and I recently spent a week at this property with our niece. There are so many superlatives to share about our stay. We were immediately impressed by how incredibly clean the entire home was, and how well stocked it was with paper towels and toilet paper and dishwashing detergent and anything else we might possibly need. Getting into the home was a breeze. The home has an open floor plan, which makes it feel airy and light. The kitchen was well stocked. In the backyard, there was a barbecue and a fire pit that we used regularly. Even though there are a few homes in the same vicinity, we felt like we were in our own secluded little piece of heaven. There were a couple of times before, during, and after our stay that we communicated with the homeowner. In all the years we've rented properties, I cannot remember an owner who responded more swiftly to our inquiries. The house is within striking distance of Traverse City, Manistee, and Frankfort, but there were a number of fun places to visit and eat at closer to the property. Lots of outlets and chargers scattered throughout the house, plus the internet connection was very strong. All in all, a wonderful stay.

About the host

Hosted by JT

Host profile image
We, JT & Julie, our daughter Claire (6) and our son Grant (3) started this business in 2021 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was driven by the burning desire to get out of the house where I had spent over 1 year staring at a computer screen in a dark room and contemplating what's next in life. Missing the days of socializing with family, friends, and other humans, we started to look into AirBnBs as a way to get people together again in a meaningful way. When we launched our first property, it was the summer of 2021 and the societal need to get people together and move on from the pandemic was at its peak. The summer sun vitamin D in Michigan was giving people an extra boost in their step. We worked very hard to get everything in order in our 3 AirBnBs spending many weekends setting up and improving the properties. Each of us had a role in setting up the properties. Some people would call me an EngiNERD, which shows in the many tech improvements throughout our properties. Julie was the queen of the details, including the kitchen, bedding, and putting those little stickers on the light switches. The children took great pride in their contributions such as the hammock at the Chalet Getaway, bunk beds at the Thompsonville lodge, and movie room at the Birdhouse Bham. We truly enjoy enabling groups of people to reconnect and have a fantastic time. The best, yet unforeseen, benefit has been the amazing reviews from many fantastic groups. They are often screenshotted and passed around our family for the pure joy that it brings to hear of the wonderful time people are having. The impact that it makes on their (and our) mood, happiness and general wellbeing is truly energizing. We will go to great lengths to ensure that your time is fantastic and we look forward to hosting you.
