Our red barn cottage apartment is a unique Nebraska experience. Our sweet little getaway is only minutes from I-80 and sits between both channels of the Platte River. Access to our pond, trails, and the river through the woods is the perfect way to experience the best of Nebraska's wildlife. Come enjoy our small-town communities, offering wineries, museums, and shopping. Then come back from your adventures to a warm fire. Play a few rounds of pool or enjoy the stars by the fire pit!

A Gem!

Myself and two friends stayed for a few days to relax and catch up on life. This place was wonderful! Very pretty, nice place with several bed options. Kitchen had everything we needed. They have goats, chickens, trails to the Platte River, pond to sit on the beach or kayak. Anne is wonderful! They have farm fresh eggs and homemade honey that was left for us - delicious!!!

Platte River

It was wonderful to be able to walk down to the Platte River. Although the Sandhill Cranes had already left for their nesting territories, the Bald Eagle was a delightful substitute.

Perfect for crane viewing time …. Or any time !

Lovely , modern , clean accommodations complete with piano and game room ! Wildlife galore , geese glided in on the pond after arriving , walking trail down to the NP river , 5 min away from the crane watching blinds ! Nice host !!

Came to See the Cranes

This was a perfect place for the 4 of us to stay in crane country. It would be great other times of the year too, but we were on a mission to experience the great migration. It is close to the river and there is a public viewing deck about a mile away. As 4 women in our seventies, safety is important. We felt safe there and the owners sprawling farm home is very close by. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Layout of beds probably better for a family with kids, but we made it work. One of the bedrooms has a queen and bunk beds. Although we didn't use it there is a game room with large screen TV available in this converted barn. Anne, the host, was very friendly. We bought some farm eggs to take home. We'd definitely come back.

Nebraska Paradise

The cottage is lovely, and in a gorgeous location. It was perfectly located for our first crane watching adventure! Anne, our host was wonderful and finding the cottage was easy with her directions. The cottage was immaculate, warm, comfortable, and beautifully stocked. Fresh eggs from the farm's chickens were left for us in the fridge. We enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders and the pair of geese on the pond. We can't wait to visit again!

Perfect Getaway

The only reason I hesitate to give a five star review is so others don’t find this place. A hidden gem for sure. Great set up for both winter and summer fun. The place was clean, spacious and taken care of. Both beds and furniture were comfortable and so not get me started when it comes to the steam shower.

This place is understated in the description. This is one of the cutest places we have stayed at and hope we get to stay again! Only regret is we didn’t get to stay longer.

Relaxation in the Country

This is a great place to stay; it is a property in the countryside, near a small town, with a two-bedroom apartment in a converted barn next to a large pond, with the owner's modern farmhouse nearby. The Platte River is a few minutes walk away (unfortunately, so is the highway, but it doesn't interfere with enjoyment of the property). Everything was clean and comfortable and the decor was tasteful, with a nice welcome basket of snacks and honey produced by bees on the property. Although I was there by myself, it would be a great place to take kids, as there are tons of things to do - a pond with kayaks and a rope to swing off of, chickens, goats, etc, as well as a large game room connected to the guest apartment. Don't miss the Pioneer Village museum in Minden, a small nearby town - a fascinating, enormous and idiosyncratic collection of 19th C buildings, carriages, antique cars and lots of other historic artifacts. Red Cloud, the town where noted author Willa Cather grew up, is also a short drive away.

Beautiful property-

At the expense of sounding cliche, I will say the pictures of the property do not convey how beautiful the property really is. Our time was short, but we really enjoyed our stay. Thanks for everything!

Slice of Heaven

We had the most wonderful staycation at this property! Our 12 and 15 year olds loved everything from the pond to the short walk to the river to the game room in the barn. Very well appointed and peaceful. We’ll be back!

Excellent country experience

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay of 3 nights on the first leg of our driving tour around Nebraska. Beautiful and expansive property with outdoor activities. Large, luxurious living space with fun game room. We plan to return.

Nice weekend get-a-way!

Our family really enjoyed this nice peaceful get-a-way. The pond was perfect for our kiddos to swim the day away. The kayaks and paddle board were a huge plus! The evenings we enjoyed the rec- room and playing games as a family. The owners were home while we were there, but let us have privacy at the pond. Looking forward to visiting again!

Pleasant Stay

Hidden Gem with isolated location including pond and trails that our entire family enjoyed. Zipline over the pond including water recreation (kayak & paddleboard) was a major plus.

Perfect Getaway!

This property is beautiful! The house is well furnished and decorated so cute. Location is peaceful with nice walking paths to the river. The goats and chickens are adorable. Fresh eggs and honey were a great welcome gift and Anne answered any questions we had promptly. We've stayed at several vacation homes and this is definitely one of our favorites!

A lovely place to visit!

Lovely property!

A group of us that form a leadership team rented this property to meet for discussion and planning. It was so peaceful, beautiful and lovely. We are already planning to rent it again. The communication with the host was great, the building was very clean and inviting. Super great!

Great getaway

We had a 3 generation weekend away and we enjoyed all the amenities! Picturesque sights from the kitchen window and great views on the short hike to the river. We loved the game room and playing rummikub. Will recommend to others!

Great spot

This property exceeded our expectations! The apartment is true to the pictures and was clean and well decorated. The games room was a great bonus. Our kids loved watching all the bird life right outside the window and on the pond. Being able to walk to the river and be on trails just out the back door was also great. We will visit here again.
