Off the beaten path

Liked being away from condos and other beach goers, but still within an easy distance for food and supplies.

Seas The Day

The floors were really dirty when we got there and few other small things randomly broke on their own, like a sliding door handle that wasn’t actually attached and the dishwasher, but all in all it was a good place to stay. This is our second time staying at Lost Colony and will keep staying. We had a great time.

Enjoyed our stay

We really enjoyed this house. We separated the house. The group who liked to stay up late and the early to rise were able to be separated so not to bother anyone, but still close to enjoy each other throughout the day. The house is close enough to the beach and to town. If you don’t like stairs, do not stay here. It is a good walk to the beach, probably about 10 minutes but totally worth it. The small pool was clean and comfortable for a small group.

Short walk to beach

We enjoyed the house that was just a short walk to the beach. It was in a nice neighborhood that felt safe. The house could use a good cleaning and maintenance. We recommend.

Great house given a weekends worth of work

Let me specify the house was nice, but it could use some overdue maintenance. The downstairs air grill is holding on for dear life, the downstairs bathroom door was damaged, and at the upstairs bar a previous guest shoved a chair into the dry wall. Other than that, the house was in good shape and I had a great time. Just hard to pay this much for a weekend and see damaged property out the gate.

Looks better in the pictures

The Home needs work and it was not comfortable. Upstairs the patio door handle was broken the outdoor furniture was ripped and broken. Downstairs the one of the sofa bed was broken and the other had pet hairs. The 2 queen beds are very old and you can feel the springs. The restroom door had a big hole on the bottom the hanger close to the door was broken also and there is no bug control whatsoever. The mosquitoes were very very bad. It’s also farther out to town than mentioned.

The home was beautiful and spacious. The air conditioner was great! The neighborhood was nice and quiet. The beach access was amazing. We actually met with a realtor during our stay and discussed investing in the area. That's how wonderful this area was. The home would be great and we would rent it again, if these minor hindrance were to be improved. These were minor inconveniences and we worked through them- it didn't hinder our stay, but adding all the minor inconveniences becomes a major problem, maybe not for us but others. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your wonderful home! 😃🙂

Fun time

Great stay overall a wonderful time was had, however many dishes were dirty when we arrived and several of the ones that were put away were also dirty, no problems with getting in and a beautiful well lit home however when we arrived we noticed sand already on the floor and old snacks left in between seats of the sofa. The convenience of the boardwalk was nice and help for beach excursions and the kitchen was well stocked with tools and cutlery.

Not quite what I thought

The top story was nice and a nice porch but not very scenic. The walk to the boardwalk to get to the beach was farther than I would like. The bottom story has no access to the top floor which makes it hard to be available for children of a certain age. Swimming pool was directly across from this property. Spiders were a problem on the bottom story. Hairdryer was broken and sparked up a small flame. Construction was next door so always noisy. Will not rent here again

Beach getaway

Great location. Walking distance to beach. Nice pools in the community. AC works great and back porch set up nice for relaxing with ocean breezes. Plenty of TVs. Stairs and side porches needing some repairs. Getting unsafe. Floors in upstairs unit very dirty. Found hair and tar left from previous vacationers. Units need updated bath mats and dish towels need to be in kitchens. Upstairs refrigerator door does not stay closed well. But even though few inconveniences, we always have a great time in Port Aransas Lost Colony.

Listing is deceptive

This is actually 2 separate units which makes safety and adequate supervision of children staying downstairs difficult. Over 3 hours to get access to the property. Codes change without notice and dont match what was provided. Nowhere near beach front and you cant even drive to the boardwalk because it is gated.

Misleading

Property was not clean- we had to sweep the floor, the countertops were greasy and there were a few areas where spills have occurred and nobody even used a Clorox wipe to clean it, it was sandy and dirty. The deck, the outlets, the power cords are all unsafe. The beds are nowhere near comfortable- There is NOT a grill- the “beach access”- is not even this property’s access. We had to walk through another property to get to the beach. Even communication including the unsafe issues and the cleanliness… I was sent a “Thank You” text in return.

Problems left and right

One of the upstairs sliding doors didn’t have a handle, it was just set to the side of the counter. The dishwasher didn’t even work. the downstairs was much worse. The downstairs bathroom door looked like it had been kicked in one corner of it and wouldn’t stay closed. The handle was almost pulled out of its housing. The sliding door was also almost out of its housing, it was so loose. The front door was falling out of its housing and barely latched. The beds had a huge dip you could see even when made, they say there is bedding for the pull out and the futon but we had to supply some of our own and blankets just to cover up at night. The hideaway just dropped to the floor when you barely pulled it out. The vents dripped and had blackish mold/mildew on/around them. That is not clean or healthy. This home was not as advertised. Everywhere we turned, something was broken or rigged or not working. This house as not the enjoyable stay we expected, after paying what we did to stay here.

Stink, stank, stunk

Cons: Horrible smell. Fishy, stale, with air freshener on top. Home is in disrepair and filthy. Stained throw pillows. Stained sofa downstairs. Stained sleeping pillows. Food spilled on walls, food spilled on cabinet doors, broken kitchen drawers. Broken dishwasher, filled with nasty water. Broken towel holders. Shower door won’t close. Rain shower head won’t function. AC condensates and drips/blows water. Stove top burners broken/not functioning. Door handles broken or not functioning. Sliding doors cannot be closed except by adult they are so stuck. Mini refrigerator smelled like week-old fish. Bathroom faucet spews water out like a fire hydrant. One sofa downstairs was covered in hair or some kind of fibers. Decorations are broken/chipped, then glued or taped back together. Not enough paper towels, or toilet paper, not enough bathing towels for our stated group size. This is a sad standard for a rental home. Home needs deep cleaning and laundering of throw pillows. Some new items- a sofa being one, and a multitude of repairs! Pros: Had electricity, hot water, and was close to the beach.

Mustang Island Seas the Day

I wish there was 21/2, 3 works. We like the house location. A little far from town but doable. No golf is a bummer but not really a good place for that. The house has great potential. We did have a few issues, starting with getting in the lower level. I am assuming the guests before us broke the lock pad so we could not enter the code. It best way to communicate with Vacasa is via text, that being said it took almost and hour and a half to make them understand what the problem was. I will say on a positive note when the “online/text” group finally had someone local call me she had the issue taken care of in a very short time. The house had some issues, again not sure if it was the guests prior or existing issues. Kitchen window kept falling out, we finally put a plastic knife wedged in to hold it closed. Kitchen outlet didn’t work, water pressure in the bathroom sink was super low. Little wooden chest was broken, floors had been swept but not mopped. Towel rack fell off the wall with one towel on it. Hair dryer didn’t work. Downstairs, shower head was coming out of the wall. False nails in the bathroom floor. We did request a late check out because we had issues getting in and were denied. I truly hate having negative feedback because I wanted to love it. We did make some good memories but the house, for the price, could have been a little better.
