8 of us came here with my dog for the weekend and it was a perfect trip. The photos don’t do the property justice and the host was super helpful with any questions we had. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Arrived to no power due to the storms the day before. We had received a call after we were on the way warning us. No power also meant no water. Fortunately, the power company arrived shortly after we did, and power was restored. The house was a nice rustic old farmhouse. It was comfortable, but we were very glad the weather was not too hot. There were two A/C window units upstairs which was adequate for the weather outside. The kids enjoyed exploring the grounds around the house. There was a lovely area with a fire pit which we did not have the time to enjoy. Loved the towels, sheets and other items provided for our comfort. The caretaker was awesome and extremely helpful!

Pros and Cons
I have mixed reviews for our stay at The Lorca. The pictures that are shown online do not paint a true picture of the inside of the property. In my opinion, it is very rustic with minimal updating. In many of the rooms there were no baseboards so you have gapping between the floor and the wall.
The room that I slept in had holes in the planking where you could see the lighting from the first floor.
Most of the windows in the house are original and are quite drafty as well as the front door. I know we visited on a very cold weekend however, there was frost on the inside of all the windows as well as the INSIDE of the front door.
The house is advertised as having heat. The upstairs was warm. The living room and kitchen area had one tower heat fan and one small vent that blew warm air. The main source of heat is the wood-burning stove however, wood is NOT provided for your use. Meaning that if the wood burning stove was not burning, the downstairs was freezing. There were three space heaters left for use. However, when we used them downstairs, the electric kept tripping so we were not able to use those as a heat source.
There was a strong odor coming from behind the refrigerator area (which I was told was probably a dead mouse in a non accessible area of the home) and over the course of the weekend there was a strong septic smell inside and outside of the home.
At night you could hear mice inside the walls and there were mice droppings on the kitchen counter, and on the floors upstairs. We did not leave any food out and cleaned up crumbs and put plates in the dishwasher before retiring for the night. I understand that mice are prevalent in the winter time however, this was uncomfortable for me.
Some positives about the home were that the beds were very comfortable, including the linens and pillows. There were extra throw blankets which was a nice touch. The layout of the home is also nice and the rooms are a good size. Lots of windows downstairs which provided a lot of natural light. The lighting was nice and most had dimmers.
I would not recommend staying here, especially in the winter time unless there were some updates made to keep the home more insulated and wood provided for use.
In my opinion, the home is not priced for what you get and is not described accurately online.
This was a perfect house for a group of friends in the area for a wedding. It has nice open living and dining room spaces for hanging out. It’s a beautiful house!
Very well maintained house with excellent kitchen, awesome porch and good space for 4 couples. Would definitely rent again

Rustic cabin with a few issues
First, I’d like to say that the caretaker was very nice and extremely responsive when we were startled from our beds multiple times the first night when the smoke alarms began to go off for no reason and woke all of our kids. She immediately texted back and stopped by to try and remedy the situation. Also let us know we could go on in when we arrived about an hour early to check in.
I feel that for the price and considering the photos of the listing, there were some issues. Firstly, the outside of the cabin does not look like the photos. It’s very overgrown. When we arrived, there was a large bucket and broom propped against the door although it doesn’t appear the front had been swept or cleaned off in some time. The furniture was also very dirty. It is clear that the kitchen, bathroom sinks and linens were very clean, so that was good. However, the floors needed to be tidied up and I ended up running the vacuum in all the bedrooms and sweeping out under the beds as there was buildup of dirt, dust, and a lot of dead beetles.
I feel that the listing was possibly made awhile ago and that the property maybe has just not been kept up to reflect it? There were some broken windows patched up with plastic and the couch had food particles in all its crevices. Also just some odd items left here and there on the property. Overall, I’d it were just adults staying, it probably would have been fine, but with kids it was not exactly what you would want. The location is good, and the coffee provided was very good. Overall, just way more rustic than the listing would appear.
The house was very warm and inviting, clean, nice kitchen and stove, and conveniently located to skiing. The property manager was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this home for a family or relaxing gathering of friends.
