I take my adult children on a vacation over Labor Day in lieu of Christmas presents. This location was perfect for 6 adults with plenty of room to spread out. The balcony was spacious and overlooked the water. The neighborhood was quiet and somewhat secluded. There were plenty of utensils to cook breakfast and lunch. Of course, we ate dinner out to get that tasty Maine seafood. I highly recommend the Dolphin Marina restaurant and their seafood risotto. YUM! We had a couple of communications with the Douglas family that were immediately addressed. We also like to play pickleball (as the whole world seems to be doing!) and there was a court not 10min away. I would highly recommend The Soundings as a great Maine get away!

Spectacular water view, surrounded by green lawn with flowers. Quiet area, with easy access to small beaches, walking trails & harbors.
We really enjoyed staying at this home. We were 7 Sisters on our annual getaway and each had a bed on their own. We appreciated having a washer/dryer and dishwasher. The kitchen had all of the things we needed including all the dishes for a lobster feast. There was plenty of room on the porch for us to gather. The kitchen table had 6 chairs but we easily fit a 7th chair with plenty of room. There was plenty of hot water for all of us to shower. This home has 2 kitchens which was great because we brought our own meals to prepare. Between the 2 refrigerators, we were able to keep our food chilled until we were ready to use. Two of the siblings are always up early, They stayed at the lower level. The rest of us stayed at the main level and on the 3rd level where the master suite is. The basement bedrooms didn't have air conditioning but it was cool enough at night to open windows. The water from the faucet was yellow but the owners provided us with a tank of spring water. You could get cold or hot. We drank one of these tanks and more were provided in the front closet. We found a cupboard with several spices including salt and pepper. We used the fire pit one evening. The chairs around the pit are plastic and the ground uneven. It made it difficult to find solid ground to sit and enjoy each other's company. One of my siblings fell sideways causing a domino effect. We had a good laugh and decided to reconvene on the deck. Would definitely stay here again!
We were all very comfortable at our stay. Was a perk to see the water!

It was a perfect home base to explore the local area. The property can accomodate many people, 3 washrooms with showers, fully equipped to accomodate our needs, and more. We loved it! Highly recommend.
We were 11 who stayed at this house for 4 nights. The house is wonderful and has everything u need including large garage that is empty in case u want to park your car in there. There were some stuff we had forgotten to bring but the house had it!! While we were there we contacted Pamela for some issues and she responded very quickly at all times. The Douglas family who mange the house are wonderful people! We were there while it was very hot. Note that not all bedrooms had AC and so it made sleeping difficult with the hottemperatures we had during our atay
This home was home base for our family during a perfect trip to Maine to visit our daughter. Everything in the home is lovely and well appointed. Pammy is hospitable and responsive, while respecting our privacy. We are so grateful to have been able to stay here!
It's funny looking back at the pictures after staying there. Aside from some Adirondack chairs on the deck that have since been replaced by a table and chairs, they pretty much sum this place up.
We have 9 adults and a 6 year old that stayed there. Unlike other places we've stayed, everyone who needed it had their own room. The kitchen had everything that we needed for a wide variety of meal prep. There was plenty of sitting areas for people to read and so on.
One room is located at the bottom of the stairs to the downstairs, but my daughter can sleep through a lot so that didn't bother her. Once you get downstairs, it amazed me how much space there was down there. Two other bedrooms, lots of closet space, a full bathroom, a second kitchen and living area and a separate door out to the yard.
The owner also owns a local ice cream business that we had visited last year and this. She was very nice to talk with. She even includes coupons for the ice cream place (which we forgot!) Her son checked up on us and dropped off some jugs for the water cooler (bubbler). The place (along with so many other places up there) is on well water and has a strong iron content to the water, so it is nice they provided this for drinking water. This is pretty common for the area.
If I was to nitpick - the color of the house in the photos seemed a bit more blue than it actually was. Really, the place was that wonderful and we've already booked for next year.
We loved this place
It is safe and clean and quiet.
The property manager lives right across the street and is helpful and kind and welcoming
It was the perfect place for a family reunion and Harpswell is just the most wonderful town .
It is walking distance ( one mile) to the most lovely coffee shop and bakery and the ocean views are lovely we saw bald eagles and osprey every day.
The grass backyard allowed for lots of outdoor games
And the fire pit was a great way to unwind at night
The kitchen has every thing you would need to cook for 14 people for the entire stay.
Good landlord good house good location.
We are so grateful to the Douglass family!
We had a family reunion in Harpswell and filled the house. We couldn't have asked for a better location and Pammy was an attentive host. The view is spectacular from the back porch, and we spent many relaxing hours out there. Don't miss the opportunity to visit Pammy's Ice Cream Parlor just down the road either!
The house is on a hill overlooking a dock and the bay, which is very beautiful. It's a great location to go exploring around Harpswell, Brunswick and coastal Maine in general. We were a big group (12+ people) and everyone fit comfortably, although it was hard to get everyone at the same table for meals. The deck and fire pit are awesome, and so was the grill and set-up to boil lobsters. Host was communicative and answered our questions quickly.
A few things we wished we knew before going. The well water was pretty rough for drinking, and while a water dispenser for big, 5-gallon bottles was provided, we ended up having to buy a bunch more to make it through the week. The kitchen also has the basics, but the pans/knives were in rough shape, and I'd definitely recommend bringing your own if you can.
A lot of the rental houses in the harpswell, orr's island, bailey island area are "magazine pretty". This one is just a basic house, on the water. Everything feels a little dated, and some things are a little rough around the edges, but honestly, it's fine. If everything was perfect, they'd be charging twice the price. As it is, we were able to have 11 people there for 5 nights and every couple had their own space. Plenty of parking. Nice firepit. Giant deck with nice outdoor seating. The only thing I'd point out is that the pictures kind of make it look like it's right on the water when in reality, there is a road below you and a working lobster dock. Personally, I kind of enjoyed seeing the lobstermen coming and going throughout the day, but it does mean that there is some occasional noise from trucks or boats, and it also means that the view from the deck has that working dock in your way. Again, I was OK with it, but the pictures were not accurate in that sense. But it was so much cheaper than anything else this size, it was worth it to me. Go to Salt Cod Cafe in the morning for coffee and breakfast sandwiches and blueberry muffins. Get your lobster rolls at Erica's or Garrett's. Have a nice lunch or dinner at the Dolphin, or Cook's. Rent kayaks at H20 Outfitters. Great trip.
Beautiful property with amazing views! The hosts were easy to communicate with, beds were comfortable and the house was spotless. Great place to relax and unwind!
The house the perfect for our family and friends coming together from around the country for daughter graduating from Bowdoin. It not only accomodated everyone comfortably but also served as an ideal gathering for celebrating with friends utilizing all the indoor and outdoor seating with beautiful Harpswell Sound as the backdrop.
Over four days in late October family members from across the country gathered for a series of events. The house provided plenty of sleeping and gathering space for group dinners during that period. The view from the deck across to Orr’s Island was wonderful.
My friends and I rented this house for a long weekend and could not be happier to have picked this spot. The hosts were kind, considerate, prompt in their communications, and full of useful tips and ideas for how to spend our time in Harpswell and the surrounding area. The house was clean and lovely, and had everything we needed (and then some!) to fully enjoy our time.
A+++, would stay again.
On a family holiday from the UK to see and experience the Maine coast. The house had fantastic views over the sea and a large wrap around balcony seating area. Spent a lot of time there soaking in the views. The house was large and spacious, just as we wanted, we all the facilities we required. We travelled around quite a bit but to be honest the surrounding area was as good as anywhere. There is quite a lot of useful info provided in the house by Pam, the host. We also met Pam and her husband at the Ice cream parlour she runs, had a good chat (and ice cream) and they were extremely approachable and engaging.
Overall had an extremely relaxing enjoyable holiday at this amazing property.
