Lovely setting of house

We had a lovely relaxing time with family. We had a problem with the hot water - no hot water in kitchen and intermittent hot water in main bathroom. In Trullo, hot water was fine, although would have liked a mirror in room for dressing. The only mirror was in the bathroom around the corner of sink making it difficult to use .

Trullo Stay

The main house is well equipped with very good AC. The Trullo was not in the best condition, cobwebs and dust in evidence. MayI suggest Hooks be put on the door to the Trullo as there is no way to hold them open. The area around the pool did not look as it had been cleaned when we arrived. The sun beds are tired along with the brollies. Only 2 brollies for a six occupants does not seem enough. The garden area needs more attention, overgrown to the rear of the property, and flower pots with dead plants. Perhaps more up to date pictures need to be posted on the advertising for this site. Although I have mentioned a few things we did enjoy the time spent here, the area is lovely and the town of Ceglie, has an abundance of well priced cafes and restaurants. This is a good base to explore this beautiful area of Italy.

An excellent place for a family stay

The property is excellent - fantastic facilities in every respect. We had no issues with the electricity when there (something which some earlier reviews flagged) and everything worked perfectly at all times. Location excellent for exploring Puglia. Unrelated to the property in some ways (and not something which can be helped), the only thing to watch out for is the mosquitos when out in the countryside - being repellant and cover up.

Where to begin…

We have been traveling to Italy for 30 years. This is our first trip to Puglia and the first time we’ve rented through VRBO. From the beginning, the property manager, Hazel, has been extremely helpful. We are careful people, and always work to prevent reading into things, hence several inquiries to clarify amenities. We needn’t have worried. The house is exactly as described, and the photos don’t do it justice. The kitchen is well done, with everything you need to cook a nice meal. The appliances are new and of high quality. The living room is nicely furnished and comfortable…if you spend a moment inside. The bedrooms have bedside tables with lamps, good storage for clothes, and are bright and cheery. The real stars of the show are the newly remodeled fantasy bathroom with double shower and sinks, and the enormous pool, surrounded by a stone deck with 6 lounge chairs and a conversation corner with 2 chairs, a love seat, and coffee table. The outdoor areas are made very private by the mature landscaping, including the night blooming jasmine hedges that deliver their lovely scent to the property each evening. The terrazza is large and offers a conversation area as well as a choice of 2 dining tables, each seating 6, one in the sun and one in the shade. The trullo is quaint and is as charming as you’d expect, and also offers a bit of real privacy as it’s not connected to the main house. Your only problem will be tearing yourself away…

Heerlijke plek om te genieten van het Italiaanse leven

Heerlijk verblijf gehad op deze prachtige plek. Fijn huis met oa een kamer in een prachtige Trulli. Prachtig groot zwembad met ligstoelen De ontvangst door Hazel was heel prettig en contact snel en duidelijk. Veel plekjes om te zitten We hebben een super tijd gehad.

Almost perfect

Offered everything needed with the special plus of a trullo stay. Great new kitchen and beautiful pool! Two main issues: Hot water a big problem in main house (heater not staying on, with need to reset often) and insufficient hot water in trullo. Structural problem with plaster left crumbling pieces and powder throughout main house. Perhaps not dangerous but not agreeable either.

Short moment in paradise

We had a wonderful stay - great house - great trulli - great pool and fresh figs everyday. Hazel the manager was absolutly fantastic and friendly. She even encouraged us to use the pizza oven. We would love to come back again sometime in the future.

Just wonderful!

We spent 13 very wonderful days in the beautiful, clean and very well maintained house! The welcome by Heather was very friendly. Although our flight was quite late, she was there and welcomed us with her warm manner and a cold Prosecco in the fridge (top!!!) and also gave us some good, interesting tips. The house and the whole complex are well maintained, the equipment/ furniture in the house mainly new and really nice and tasteful. The kitchen also offers a lot of things you need for cooking, many spices and also vinegar/ oil available. The pool is fantastic and the trullo was also very lovingly decorated. We also loved that the pool was cleaned twice a week and there was a change of linen after a week - although as there is also a good washing machine - we did some of the washing ourselves. The house is a bit out of the way, which we knew and was okay for us, but without a (rental) car it is not possible. You can drive about 30-40 minutes to various beautiful beaches and there are many great restaurants, nice little towns and good shopping opportunities in the immediate and wider surroundings. We have already recommended the house to friends and family and can imagine returning. That says it all... :-)

heerlijk verblijf tussen de olijfgaarden

Mooie villa gelegen tussen de olijfgaarden dicht bij Ostuni. Alles is aanwezig in de Villa, zijn er problemen kun je direct opnemen met de beheerder waarop ze direct reageert. Heerlijk zwembad, mooie slaapkamers en enorm leuk om de Trulli te slapen.

Enjoying Puglia with Friends

Had a great time seeing Puglia and the property, the property was magnificent for our daily relaxing after traveling to the many wonderful towns around. Made a few meals in the wood oven, took some practice but it made for a fun evening and good food.

Slice of Heaven in Ceglie Messapica

I didn’t know what it would be like staying in an authentic trullo. What a delight I was in for! The whitewashed limestone walls and stone floors were gorgeous. The four poster bed was lovely and super comfy. The sitting area provided bonus space and the bathroom was the perfect size. Beautifully decorated. I opened the cute blue screened door windows every morning to start my day and soak in some Italian sunshine. Afternoon napping was equally delightful as the bed faces the outside and I opened both doors to get my Zzzs and enjoy the breezy afternoons. Note that many Italian shops close in the afternoons- it’s the Italian version of siestas, so explore early! Quiet neighborhood. Good for morning walks. Great base location. Every day I daytripped and explored beautiful and historical nearby cites like Lecce, Ostuni, Martina Franca….hope to come back soon and stay here again.

Relaxing and Peaceful country retreat

The property was lovely, very clean and well presented. The bedrooms were spacious with, generally, good storage for clothes; however, the Trullo had nowhere really for clothes (we used the bedside tables and brought through the coat stand from the main house). The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, plates etc. Our one reservation about the kitchen was the cooker - it is an induction - if you've never used one of these, do make sure you get a full demonstration when you arrive: it is fine once you know how. The outside space and swimming pool were fabulous. The surrounding area was gloriously tranquil and picturesque. It is a short drive on quite narrow roads to get to the property, but it is very straight forward and after the first trip, not difficult. The nearby towns are lovely, with lots of nice restaurants. We would definitely go back!

Beautiful home and great location for vacation!

Beautiful home and pool! Location is awesome about 10 minutes to town( restaurants , cafe, groceries and many more) and a hour away from many beautiful other cities! Long day doing sightseeing and back at beautiful poolside with glass of local wine 🍷! House manager is very friendly shared lots of great tips throughout our trip! Highly recommend!! Can't wait to go back!!

Perfect escape for peace & quiet.

Thank you Heather & Alex for sharing Trullo Dolce. Taking our parents back to the region after nearly 50 yrs, peace and quiet was the order of the day. Trullo Dolce was perfect for our needs, located amongst Olive groves, accessed via single track roads but 10/20 mins drive from Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica and their amenities. The outdoor lighting, when returning back after an evening out is very efficient, but remember to turn off, lay back on your lounger with your 'nightcap' (of course!) & look up! Hazel, thank you! Your great comms started prior to arrival to ensure a smooth journey to the Trullo. A great welcome and explanation of facilities and very good local recommendations (incl. San Marzano Cantine!) and thank you for your offer of contact throughout our stay (which so helped with our revisit of family history near Rosa Marina, a personal thank you from all our family) Trullo Dolce has all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay. We required minimum steps/stairs for parents and with everything at ground floor level, and therefore Trullo Dolce was ideal for us. Between the Villa & Trullo you have a choice of modern or traditional living with everyone coming together for an indoor or outdoor dining area, serviced by a well equipped kitchen. Take heed of Hazel's advice on electricity when cooking and you won't go wrong (It's the same in all rural areas) WiFi helps with the restaurant location & review checks and nice touches like the bluetooth speaker, compliment poolside relaxation time. TV (should you require it) has the Apps for your own log-in. Outside, as previously mentioned has not only the seating area but 2 traditional Pizza ovens, lounge area and an amazing sized pool. There is plenty of poolside area to spread out and gardens to walk and identify the flora & fauna. Thank you again. Liam

Lovely quiet villa with great pool

lovely pool, great stay, really enjoyed our time here. You need a car to get anywhere as the villa is on the outskirts. There was enough seating areas outside the villa, including a hammock. The pool was in need of a clean when we arrived but after a few days, the pool man cleared the bottom and it was again maintained once more during our stay - it was pristine. The pool really is a fabulous size and we loved lazing on our sunbeds around the edge. Being in Italy, the electrics cant cope easily when there are more than a couple of plugs in - so for a family of 6, we found cooking tricky at times as the electrics regularly shorted. A storm also left us without electricity in the villa for one evening and night which cant be helped. Hazel was in touch early the next morning to try and fix it. There were plenty of plates, cutlery etc but we raised there were no baking trays/crockery to use in the oven - as we did not eat out for every meal, we did need to cook, so that would have been useful. We bought some disposable trays instead. We usually have a few extra towels when we stay in Villas, and as a family of 6 adults, we could have done with more, especially as we were in and out of the pool and showers. A spare set of bedding would have been useful - we stripped the beds and washed them ourselves, not a big problem. The trullo was beautiful, however the water pressure was so low, it was hard to wash when the water only comes out in a trickle in the sink, and the shower was also similar but a little better. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and Hazel was really helpful. We are aware the villa is due a refurbish and only mention these niggles due to the high price of the villa in comparison to others we have stayed at in italy.

Fabulous time in Trullo Dolce

Great location for Ostuni and the coast. And a wonderful base for exploring the wonders of Puglia - from Otranto & Lecce across to Matera. Very happy with house and pool - exactly as advertised. Fabulous care from Hazel at check-in, check-out and for super advice/recommendations and help with restaurant reservations through the week. Would wholeheartedly recommend!

Trullo Dolce, What a magnificent find

The villa and Trullo are nestled nicely in Puglia countryside, situated between Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica, 10 min drive to fabulous restaurants, cafes, shops and the local Famila supermarket is glorious. Brilliant welcome with plenty of local info. Perfectly kitted out house and cosy Trullo, everything you could need for a home away from home. Well equipped kitchen, big table inside and out, clean and spacious. Plenty storage in bedroom and huge beds for everyone to sleep in especially when the little ones get up early to clamber over you. The garden and pool are simply gorgeous, super clean and so well maintained, every corner has a little nuke, great for chasing the sun or shade. Thank you Heather and team, we loved it and will definitely return.

Cozy holiday in beautiful surroundings

At first we were a little surprised that the house was so far out in the countryside, but pretty soon we appreciated the winding little roads (which were perfect for morning walks or runs), the olive trees, the beautiful nature and the silence. Although the house was isolated, it didn´t feel deserted, there are several houses nearby. The house has a lovely large patio and nice large pool area. The house has all the comfort you will need for a wonderful holiday. The local host - Hazel was very helpful and ready to help us any time. We would love to come back, Puglia is a fantastic place for a holiday.

Trullo Dolce Vita

Trullo Dolce is absolutely wonderful. Its beautiful setting with blooming flowers and olive and fruit trees, a perfect pool and all the amenities you need for a private and relaxing stay in Puglia. We spent a week at Trullo Dolce and traveled to nearby towns and beaches and often cooked at home. The home is spacious and clean and comfortable. The Trullo is adorable and the amenities are plentiful and useful. We felt we were a world away and look forward to many happy returns.
