We frequently use VRBO and rely on reviews to plan our trips. When I booked this home, it only had one review, but I took a chance. I'm sharing our experience in hopes it will help others regarding this property.
What we liked:
The home is spacious and there was plenty of room to spread out. There is good lighting through out the house. The linens were clean. Our kids loved the porch swing and the the property has a nice game room. The location itself is beautiful.
What we Didn't like:
When entering the home, we noticed a musty smell (like your great Aunt Helen's). Parts of the house are remodeled, but not others. The towels were older mis-matched green and brown (not the white pictured in the listing), the kitchen is old (sink is stained, cook top cracked). The master has a large window without a covering and a glass shower. The owner said it was two way glass, but we tested it at night and it wasn't. When I called again he offered to come put up a temporary curtain, but we opted to use a different bathroom to shower. The patio was nice, but covered with spider webs. Although there are things we liked about the property, the subtle musty smell was a strong enough deterrent that we wouldn't book again. Upon arriving our first night and noticing the smell, I called the owner to see if he would refund our money. He said he couldn't because it was too late to rebook the property. We opted to stay because we didn't want to risk not being refunded through VRBO.
