Rent this cabin if you want something secluded, but yes, other cabins in area. For evenings it has a huge covered deck with a swing, a glider, and lots of chairs and tables. AND a hot tub to relax aching muscles. Turned air conditioning to 70 & it cools house even if 80F outside, maybe bring a fan to move air upstairs. Fit 4 adults & toddler comfortably with plenty of hot water available for all.
We had a wonderful time here! The outside area was wonderful and it was well appointed. A few more cups for coffee, extra pillows would have been great, but we were comfortable.
We enjoyed our overnight stay at this lovely cabin.
Highly impressed with how clean the cabin was. Great communication from the kind owners. Highly recommend.
A short drive from the Red River Gorge. The cabin sits on a dead end gravel road on top of a hill. It's very quiet and nice place to relax after a day of hiking.
We had a great time staying here! The host was very welcoming and helpful. Would highly recommend. The only issue was that it is difficult to find, but following the directions provided (not google/apple maps) you'll get there safely.
Loved the place.. apparently amazing... the only thing that was bad about the cabin was the beds.. way to hard of beds... thats would be the only thing keeping us from coming back...
Super clean and quiet location
Quite large hot tub leak and the steep stairs to the second floor could use some lighting… shower head has very low pressure…
Just as advertised rental, check in /out times are not very agreeable with most schedules…but if you want a cabin way up in the mountains this place is for you!

The cabin was fantastic for me, my bf, and a friend of ours to stay in for 2 nights while visiting Red River Gorge for hiking! It’s a good size and has all the necessities. We even had the ability to cook a nice breakfast each morning.
Everything was in working order and the check-in/check-out process is easy.
It’s not as close to restaurants or the RRG trails as I had expected it to be however. But the location was very quiet and peaceful so we didn’t mind the 30-40 minute drive to places.

We were so glad to find this cabin for our dog and ourselves for the fall weekend in Red River Gorge. It was very clean, and included all amenities we needed. It was very peaceful and comfortable. The shower was a nice size, and good water pressure, but it could use a shower caddy/shelves, as there was nowhere to put soap and shampoo (other than the floor) while showering. We were also impressed that hot water was almost instant from all faucets. We also liked the heater. The beds were comfortable but most of the pillows were bigger and harder than desired.
The cabin setting was beautiful. The drive up was a clencher. I was with my mom and elderly aunts though and I will say the stairs to the loft were unmanageable for 3 of the group and the couch is not a comfortable sleep. The hot tub needs some work also. Otherwise the cabin is beautiful and perfect for a family gathering. We had a great time. Plenty of towels and the kitchen is stocked. I would definitely stay again.
Getting to the cabin was difficult but the location was worth it. Very secluded, private, quiet and relaxing. We ran Into some issues. The stairs were a bit steep and a little scary for one of the members we had with us but thankfully there was a 1st floor bedroom. The directions were a little bit confusing still and when we contacted the owner we heard from him at first right away but then didn't answer my last question until the next morning, other than that the man was awesome and accommodating. We are so appreciative to be able to stay in this cabin.
We went to RRG with friends for my wife’s birthday. This property was super cool! One of the best cabins I’ve been at. You’re really (emphasis on really) up in the mountain. If you’ve read any reviews on the area/other cabins in general, an AWD car is honestly super helpful. I thought people were being dramatic. Our little old Mazda really struggled up the roads. But if you’re looking for a genuine cabin in the woods, minimal people around (enough that you’re not scared though), this is it. The only thing I would say is to bring your own pillows. The ones at the cabin were thiccc and hard - made for very uncomfy sleeping for all 4 of us. But a lot of fun! Really great communication! Highly suggest
Nice hottub and kitchen/living room windows and porch looks off into woods. But they are building a cabin close by so not totally secluded anymore.
Nice downstairs bedroom. The 2 upstairs bedrooms are on steep stairs so not for young kids or if you have mobility issues. They were awesome to allow us to take our 2 dogs! Take food so you dont have to go out after dark. The road is long and twisty w clifts dropping straight down in parts. I wouldnt drive it in the dark. I recommend this wonderful cabin with a beautiful view of woods and great customer service.
Pictures of the cabin were pretty accurate. A few downfalls were that there was one heater and it was a struggle to keep the bedrooms upstairs cool and the downstairs warm. Additionally, we tried to use one pan that was either dirty or not cleaned well & it smoked a lot and we couldn’t use it to make our dinner. The cabin was mostly clean but you could tell it was a quick clean with some cobwebs in the doorways. We were disappointed with the quality of the cabin overall given how much we paid for it. The beds & pillows were rather hard too. We did enjoy cooking on the grill, having a fire, sitting in the hot tub and being able to bring our dog! The view is also super pretty. Communication with the owner & directions to the spot were amazing!
Hickory Hilltop was such a cute place. We had a lovely time. The only recommendation for them would be to have better utensils and kitchenware. There were no hot pads, rubber spatulas or even mixing bowls for salad. The skillet was horrid so we ended up using the cast iron on the glasstop. That's not good for glasstop, but we had no other choice to cook our food. Hitting a few garage sales would be helpful to stock the kitchen better. The mattresses were really bad as well. Very hard and we could feel the springs. One bed upstairs was good, the other 2 left us hurting and hard to sleep. It's nice to get good rest on vacation, an upgrade on those features would do well.
Overall our stay was fabulous. The cabin is remote and in a beautiful location. We loved it! We would stay again!
