Enjoy the peace, quiet and security of a log cabin with all the amenities of home along with lots of privacy. Whippoorwill Ridge is a hand hewn log cabin nestled in the mountains of Eastern KY. The cabin features a gorgeous hand built fireplace and chimney of sandstone which was quarried nearby. There is one bedroom and a loft area partially overlooking the living room. There is a passageway, but no door between the bedroom and the loft area. The loft area has a queen bed, and a small balcony which is ideal for watching the sunset. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room. and the kitchen is fully equipped. The large wraparound porch is an ideal gathering place especially during a rain. There is a fire ring in the back yard and even a wood shed if you get mesmerized by the fire and the weather changes. Soak in the hot tub after a hike around the Gorge. We are just 25 minutes from Natural Bridge and the Red River Gorge Geological Area. Enjoy the beauty of the area in a drive or a hike and come back to a cozy evening in our home.

We had a last minute weekend getaway with friends. The cabin is very cozy and clean. The view was gorgeous. Hot tub was clean, warm and ready to get in. Beds are very comfortable as well. We would happily stay again
This cabin was just what we needed! It was away from it all and a cozy place. Very clean. The fireplace was running out of gas, but was quickly fixed by the owner. Perfect for a family of four. We truly enjoyed our stay!
We all know what we like, pictures tell a 1000 words. So you know what your getting when you stay here... It's rustic and relaxing. This old house was somebody's dream and I like to imagine what they were thinking when they build it. That's just me, I like old structures and the history that follows. If you're staying here it's because you're probably hiking through Red River Gorge. So that jakuzi after a long day is refreshing, thanks.
Great little cabin! Host was awesome, great communication. Easy drive to every attraction im the Red River Gorge, and an easy drive to Richmond if your looking for a bit of "city" action. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the oven door is falling off if you simply touch the range and the stand that the microwave and toaster sit on is ready to topple onto someone. In all fairness, I did report to the host and told them that we would be ok to not have it repaired during our stay, but still a bit of a flaw that keeps this cabin from being 5 stars. All im all we had a great time exploring the gorge and it was nice to have a comfortable hot tub, cozy cabin and nice bed to recover grom the days hiking, snd not have to drive too far to get "home".
The cabin was nice and as advertised. My only exception was at all times of the day a pack of dogs would come through jumping the fence and leave us a smelly present on the porch. I had to be careful with our dogs I’m sure they are neighbors dogs all 6 or 7 of them.

Very uncomfortable couch,no tvs in bedroom and hot tub leaked had to keep adding water
This was a lovely stay. Often times WiFi doesn’t work at these places and there is no phone signal. I had no trouble with that at this cabin, which was a relief.
The cabin is up a steep hill and we were there when it started to sleet. We have 4WD and we were fine but left a bit early so we didn’t get stuck, it got dangerous on the hill quickly. If you book this place during winter, be aware of the risk of snow or ice on the hill. Otherwise, lovely.

Overall my friend and I enjoyed our stay. However, the add or owner should have mentioned the neighbors pack of dogs before we arrived, not by the in-case-of-emergency pepper spray container on the table on the back porch. Both my friend and I are dog lovers and we managed the neighbors pack of, at least, six dogs. But if someone who is not familiar with pack mentality rents this cabin I cannot imagine how terrified they might be.
Thanks for listening,
Lucinda
Please fix the nail sticking out on the banister going up the stairs, my friend ripped her finger open on it.
We had such an amazing stay at this cabin. It is secluded and quaint, simply perfect and beautiful. My husband was in the hot tub every day. It is about 20 mins to kroger so keep that in mind. There is not a mixer or potato masher but we just altered our sides when we realized that. Grill was clean and had an extra tank. We couldnt figure out how to work the fireplace but decided it wasnt a big deal. We will be back! About 40 mins from the Red River Gorge ...if you go- stay on the trails lol its easy to get off them and we ended up crossing the red river on foot with a baby on my back😳 We conquored it🤣
I really loved the privacy of this cabin. The bedrooms were very cozy, The metal roof made for a super relaxing time for me and my daughter over the weekend considering it stormed really hard. We enjoyed the large front porch. It actually became our stage because I brought our karoake machine and we sang Miranda Lambert one night. Luckily the cabin is private because our singing voices are less than par.
I did have to call about the grill but the property manager was very helpful in walking me through hooking up the new propane tank. It was my first time and I appreciated her patience. She offered to send her son to help me out but stated he would be a 45 minute drive so thankfully I was able to get it going without having to inconvenience him. I do think maybe the cabin could use a cleaning in the corners of the rooms and behind furniture also some cleaning of dead bugs in the windows but also my house could probably use the same. I just don't rent mine out ;) lol. I would definitely stay here again. I look forward to it!

We travel to the gorge every year, sometimes twice and this will will be our least favorable. When we arrived, trash was all over the yard from the garbage cans, the hot tub cover and housing were deteriorated and the gray water inside was not appealing. It didn’t improve much inside as we were greeted by roaches , stink bugs and an apparently a rotten section of the floor between the living room and kitchen. The ice maker was broken. There was no relaxing in the den. It’s more like office furniture than den furniture. In all the cabin looked like it was not kept up. The discomforts and unwanted surprises continued to total up the longer we were there which resulted in cutting our trip extremely short. Would not recommend.
Beautiful get away rustic cabin, it was perfect for my husband and I, half hour from Daniel National Boone Forest for hiking, zip lining and Red river gorge.
Check-in and check-out process is simple and easy. The amenities were great including the hot tub, fireplace, and firepit. The kitchen was well equipped and the two loft bedrooms were lovely.
The cabin was very nice, tucked away in a beautiful area. My gps took us to a set of cylindrical structures. For the life of me I don’t know what they were but the property was a short drive past them. The only issue I had was that some of the pots and pans had a fair amount of burned on food. We stopped to grab a heavier scrubby and made them look much better and usable! Other than that the place was great and just what we were looking for.
