About this property

Cozy Cottage Now Booking all Dates! Winter included!

ONLY 3.5 HOURS FROM THE NORTHERN SUBURBS OF CHICAGO!! Sturgeon Bay is as much as an hour closer and more convenient than many other Door County towns. In fact, from 94/294 all the way to Sturgeon Bay is now all (at least) four-lane highway.

Imagine yourself in this clean and upscale cottage in the woods across the street from Lake Michigan's beaches.................

Hidden Glidden Cottage is a charming and clean and cozy two-bedroom, two bathroom cottage romantically hidden behind a sand dune on scenic Glidden Drive, east of Sturgeon Bay in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin! Glidden Drive meanders peacefully along the Lake Michigan shore. The house is nestled in the woods across the street from the lake and you have beach access rights to a wonderful sandy beach only 250 steps up the road.

You will find that the private, picturesque location boasts decks on all sides of the house, as well as a peaceful screened porch. Since this is our family vacation home, you will find it equipped with all of the niceties and conveniences we like to find when we arrive. In the kitchen you have a microwave oven, full-size oven/stove, full-size refrigerator, disposal, toaster, blender, coffee maker & grinder, small food grinder, pots & pans, glasses, plates, bowls, cups, cutlery, etc. In the main bedroom you have a pillow-top queen-size bed, attached full bath with marble-topped vanity, a Toto toilet and a bathtub, and a television with Roku. The second bedroom features a queen-size bed, a television with Roku and small, secluded and private outdoor deck with a porch swing. Both beds are furnished with upscale linens for your comfort. The guest bath features a cheerful sunflower motif and a walk-in shower. The bedrooms have Berber carpet. The great room has Hickory hard-wood floors.

The kitchen is conveniently located in a corner of the great room, which also includes a dining area with a rustic table for six as well as a lounging area in front of a large, wood-burning, fieldstone fireplace. There is a CD/Cassette stereo as well as a television over the fireplace. We have also included a small selection of games and books for your enjoyment. The sofa in the great room is a queen-size sleeper with a memory foam mattress. Off to the north of the great room, through French doors, is the peaceful screened porch, which is furnished with comfortable white wicker furniture. Through the wall of windows to the east of the great room is a large deck with adirondak lounging furniture and dining chairs and a table, as well as a gas grill--perfect for outdoor dining and also for curling up in the sun or shade (depending on time of day) with a good book! Nature lovers will adore the view, and there are bird feeders near the deck, as well as a bird bath.

For your convenience, there are a full-size washing machine and dryer in the closet adjacent to the entry hall. There are beach towels in the linen closet, and the garage is equipped with beach chairs and toys, tennis racquets, an ocean kayak, a basketball and a couple of children's bicycles.

The rental fee includes all listed conveniences, normal cleaning (no dishes or pots left in the sink), washing of used linens and towels (one set per person staying), and WiFi. We request a Damage/Breakage Deposit, which will be returned to you after the house has been turned over in good condition and we have received the keys back in the mail (if applicable).

Rustic cottage
The cottage setting was pretty, and I think would be even more so in the summer. With all the trees surrounding the house this time of year, it felt a little damp. The housekeeping could use some improving. I know the owners use a service but things were not as clean as I would have expected. The beds were very comfortable.

Awesome Hidden Gem
Great little cottage in a perfect location. We had plenty of room to relax and enjoy our time in Door County. The screened in porch and table tennis in the garage were highlights. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. Beds were comfy and the great room had plenty of room to watch a movie or ball game. It was a short walk to the lake and we could actually hear the relaxing sound of the waves while sitting on the deck. Thank you for sharing your cottage!

Peaceful Cottage
What a relaxing week! We had a vehicle breakdown just two days into our stay. (reached out to Kevin and he went out if his way to try and get us a good local repairman) We had brought our bicycles so we rode them up to Whitefish Dunes and Cave Point right from the cottage. Walked to the public beach at least twice a day to stroll along the lake or sit in our chairs to soak up some sun while relaxing to the sound of the waves crashing. The cottage had everything we needed. We brought our own spices and other necessities for cooking. The grill was great. We are missing the peaceful sounds of the owls, various birds and the Lake Michigan waves. Highly recommend!

Sturgeon Bay Stay
We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We had everything we needed. The walk to the Lake Michigan beach was not far, though the directions were not super clear. Here are our directions: Just walk down the driveway, turn right onto Glidden Road, look for Arrowhead Lane, turn left and follow the drive to a path in the woods on the left. You will se the lake and beach from there.. (The sign for Arrowhead Lane is hidden by the bushes on the left side of Glidden Road. It says "private." Does that mean we have access because the owner's property has access?) We went anyway, and really enjoyed walking on the beach both days. The guys enjoyed using the pingpong table in the garage. Are there lights in the garage? It was a bit hard for them to see as they played, and we didn't see any lights. We also thought it would be nice to have an additional receptacle for the recyclables under the sink, since we were asked to separate them from the garbage.

Coming home to Glidden Dr
As a family we are very familiar with Glidden Drive. I spent many Summer and Fall Days playing in the waves and on the beach of Old Mich. Our dear friend lived only 1/4 mile further North on Glidden Drive until she died. We knew the area and the nature of this part of the Lake Michigan Shore and thoroughly loved every moment. This lovely, well appointed home looked and felt much like our friends home. I remember driving by "Hidden Glidden Cottage" as a child and young adult and knowing we were almost there. The screened porch and cozy living room provided comfortable spaces for our family to relive the amazing experiences of living within the cedar forest and on the beach of the "Lake Michigan side" of the Door County Pennisula.

I was looking for a location away from crowds, this cabin was in a perfect spot for that!
Inside, this is a super cute and clean cabin. But, no floor fans provided, we needed to move the air conditioned air to the bedrooms. I'm glad I had brought my own lawn chairs. The outdoor furniture and decks needed power washing. My favorite thing was the easy accessory to the beach!! Beautiful!!

Late September Early October
The Hidden Glidden was perfect for us. I especially enjoyed the fireplace. It was too chilly and rainy to use the firepit. but we did use the grill a few times. It was great to see it was very clean. A couple of suggestions only 1) how about a bucket for cleaning ashes from the fireplace, and 2) label the trash cans so you can tell which is for recyclables, WE'll definitely be back.

Cozy Cottage - Nice Beach Access
Perks: Short walk to nice beach access. Good outdoor space for kids to explore. Spacious indoor fireplace was great for chilly nights. Beds comfortable. Pretty low price point. Two big sea kayaks, if you can transport them. Owner was very responsive via text. Good wifi and limited cell service. Drawbacks: It's and older cottage and shows it's age. Technology a bit old and took some time to figure out. Many of the recreational amenities weren't really in any condition to use, but not a big deal. All in all a decent stay in a fun location for a fair price.

My wife and I and our two young adult daughters live in the northern suburbs of Chicago. We would love to have you and your family as our guests in our home away from home.

Why they chose this property

My family and I have traveled to Door County since I was a child. My wife and daughters so loved spending time at my parents' home down the road, that we all decided that we wanted to own our very own slice of paradise.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the very homey feeling that our property has. It is a very comfortable home with many places for relaxation.
