Indeed rustic to the good old days of a hunting cabin! If looking for a Hilton this is not it. Great setting. Had a issue but was taken care of immediately.
Ideal setting. Nice shady property and fantastic view of Lake Michigan. Historical cabin in good condition and located ideally amongst cherry orchards and view of the lake. Great location to access Northport, Leland and Sutton's Bay.
This is a beautiful, rustic cabin in the woods. The location is perfect. Right on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan with the solitude of being in the woods with the convenience of being 6 minutes from town. Northport, Sutton’s Bay, and Leland are all great little towns to explore as are the area beaches. The kids loved cooking dinner over a camp fire and listing to the waves hit the shore.
We enjoyed a lovely week on the Leelanau Peninsula based out of the Evening Glo Lodge. The cabin is charming, historic and well-maintained. The kitchen and bathroom are older but clean, functional and consistent with what one would expect from a vintage cabin. There is a nice breakfast area in the kitchen with windows on three sides and natural light that is uncommon in older log structures. The living room is large and nicely laid out with a couple of couches, a dining table a desk and a massive stone fireplace that we enjoyed on a cooler summer night.
The primary bedroom downstairs is small but comfortable with views over the bluff and Lake Michigan. The loft has two sleeping areas which suited our sons (ages 11 and 15) well: the smaller, enclosed bedroom in the loft is quirky but fun for a kid. The sleeping arangements are perfect for a small family, but might be a bit constrained for multiple adults.
The cabin is outfitted well: plenty of pots and pans, cutlery and utensils. There's a charcoal grill outside, a washer/dryer and plenty of wood for the fireplace or fire pit. There was a bookcase of board games and an a selection of books that incded novels and local guides. The wi-fi was a bit spotty but that didn't bother us. We didn't even think about turning on the TV even on the rainy day we spent at the cabin!
The setting is truly spectacular. The cabin is set back from the edge of a towering bluff over Lake Michigan, with views out to the Manitou Islands.
This is a gorgeous property: lots of trees and a bluff overlooking lake Michigan. It's great for viewing the sunset. It's a big lot and the feeling is of near complete isolation from other people. There is a house visible on the other side of the neighboring orchard, but it's far enough away they it doesn't feel like a next-door neighbor. The cabin is very rustic. It is over 100 years old and has been modernized to be livable. The shower is awesome! The living room is nice and big with two comfy couches. It's so relaxing to just hang out. Our bed (downstairs) was very comfortable. It doesn't have a dishwasher, so I feel like I spent all of my time washing dishes. Also, the dishes had not been properly washed by the person before us, so we had to wash every dish, glass, mug, and piece of silverware before using. The kitchen is well stocked with the exception of pan lids for the frying pans. We just used another frying pan, lol. If you are freaked out by bugs, there were earwigs, lots and lots of earwigs. I used to be very freaked out by earwigs, but by the end of the week, I was becoming inured to them, lol. We were two couples and one teenager. That worked out well, but the celings upstairs are very low and you are bound to bang your head at least once.
